, And pyramid yes i should have elaborated but im lookin from the 1000 to 1300 area for an apartment or a house to rent.. seen some that looked nice on craigslist im just suspect.. maybe its cause im from NY and u dont get much for the money around here, so im figuring theres gotta be a catch to some of these places..I have to say i do need to take a trip down there to play and look around...never been to flo for poker..just looking for a warm year round climate where there are as many poker rooms as possible.. seems like its florida or vegas but since im a east coast guy florida is a lil ahead of vegas right now..thanks for the responses
There's no one answer to your question about how good or bad the players are because there's such a range.
I like to play at the Tampa Hard Rock, and occasionally make it down to South Florida where I'll play at Palm Beach or the Isle, usually. Mostly 1-2, 1-3 (that's at the Hard Rock) and 2-5.
On any given night I can see just flat out horrific play -- you know, people limping utg and then flat calling a 5 x BB raise with napkins, people floating with overcards and then not betting them when they hit one ... that kind of thing. Poker that is just gross to watch. (And I'll make money if I play well, get cards, and figure out who you can't bluff).
The next night you can play at a table that's full of strong, internet-based players, who understand and utilize position and chip stacks, can size a bet, and are fairly accurate in spotting weakness.
I can say the same exact thing about Vegas and California.
The point: Anyone who tells you that the play in Florida is "this way" or "that way" either doesn't understand the difference or hasn't played enough down here to see the difference. All I can tell you is that there are plenty of places to play and if you are in Tampa or the Lauderdale-Miami area you won't hurt for a game.
