Lol, by "experienced" I'm guessing you mean that someone in their mid 40s might be the youngest player at the table by a couple of decades?

One way to minimize this experience is to play at the Orleans on weekends when it attracts a younger out of town crowd and local occasional players. On weekends it is common to see someone buy and re-buy and spew off their chips on bad hands. That behavior is rarely seen during the week.

LOL, the Orleans has over 1800 rooms. There are bound to be a number of non-locals playing. You'd probably find a higher percentage of locals grinding at places like TI.

With the rave in town, the room definitely skews younger at the moment

Depending on how mom feels we may be there Tues-Thurs next week. I love The Orleans poker room w/ it's 'just right' seedy/fun/degen feel. The 4-8 game is terrific, too.

Sadly, I can't make the time commitment for the tourneys which is too bad.

Can you get two or three hours? If so, get over to the WSOP and try some sng's (1-1.5 hours) or the 7 am turbo satellite. It's $75 to win a $500 lammer plus 40 or so cash and the one I played finished in 3 hours.

I was just over at the Orleans last week. Be sure to ask for a remodeled room. Since they started the remodel about two years ago I assumed all rooms had been remodeled by now. Bad assumption on my part.

We stayed there last week and I played several sessions. Enjoyable experience; I think it worked out to an average of about $26 a night for the room. Pretty generous comp rate in terms of what you get for points playing poker, also. And I have to say...the BEST TGI Fridays I have ever eaten in, by far...wish they were all that good! We found that being off the strip was actually a plus, as we didn't have to deal with crazy traffic when we were going out somewhere else...Red Rock Canyon & Mt. Charleston were pretty amazing, especially Mt. Charleston being 35 degrees cooler than LV.

That being said, there were MANY complaints about the new jackpot promotion, which is pretty ridiculous. You have to have AKs as your hole cards and FLOP the royal. It's something like 65 million to 1.

They were also giving away random $100 each hour...just a drawing, not connected to anything other than you were at a seat and signed in on the Bravo system. No complaints about that one.

I generally like the room and the near strip location. Somehow I think that a 65 million to 1 jackpot is not a promotion at all in the sense that it will do nothing to actually promote the poker room until the distant day in the future when the jackpot is huge, but between now and then it is just a jackpot rake that has no benefit to the players.

Anyone have an information about their Friday evening MTT events - in terms of the number of runners and about how late the MTT ends - if lucky enough to get to the final table. I'm planning a trip in the fall and my friend heard good things about it.

Rake was recently increased from the best anywhere $3 + $1 to normal $4 + $1

Played in one last year and it had about a hundred entries iirc, played during the WSOP and it had 270+, lol. Never got anywhere near the FT, but since I played 5+ hours and still didn't cash, I would think it's going to be pretty late. The structure slows down after the first break. The whole point of a good structure is for it to take a long time to finish.

Yeah, they also lowered the comps. The good news is that an evening's play still comps enough to buy a nice meal at Fuddrucker's, etc.

Good tournament. Always 100+. Plan on being there until 3-5am.

Just wanted to bump the thread since I'm planning my March Madness trip to Vegas and I'm thinking of playing at The Orleans again since I had a great time on last year's trip. Just a couple of Q's:

I have been looking at the Bravo App and I have not been seeing too many 1/3 NL games going (Only 1-3 games on a regular basis). I was just wondering why this was the case? I realize Limit Holdem and Omaha are huge at The Orleans, but you would think they would have a few more NL tables going...

I'm planning on staying Tues to Fri night in Vegas and I wanted to play either the Tues night or Wed night tourney. How many runners do they usually get? Best structure for the buy-in besides going to the B/A/V/or W?

That's awesome and sad at the same time. One could say that it about sums up the Orleans in a single sentence.

Edit: Not gonna stop me from playing there.

I left out some details.

He put a $100 bill flat on the table. He poured the coce on it. He took out another $100 bill to roll up. He deemed that $100 bill too dirty to use as the straw, asked aloud if anyone had a brand new $100. No one answered. He used the somewhat dirty $100 and did the line.
