Does anyone know if you get any extra chips for more hours played over the min qualify ammt?
I work there, and at the time you asked, they were still discussing the amount of chips players would receive. It hadn't been decided yet.

That has now been finalized so you can ask the TD again and he'll tell you.

I would tell you myself, but I don't know the answer.

Also, there's a very slim chance they changed this again and didn't tell us, but I'm fairly certain you do get the extra chips.

I have a question about the Orleans. Maybe someone actually knows the answer and/or others have good guesses.

How did the Orleans manage to "corner the market" on limit action at all, much less without actually being on the strip?

It's long established that NL and PLO are far more popular in general than LHE or O8.

But somehow Orleans has managed to attract a huge, consistent share of limit players in Vegas.

How did they do it and how are they able to maintain it?

They're off the strip which is attractive to locals. Many of us hate going to the strip. Their drop is slightly less than most rooms. They take $2 per hand for promotions, attracting a certain kind of player and repelling another. There's no parking fee, no gates, plenty of shaded parking and traffic/parking is almost never a problem. Many locals are retirees and thus were limit players when that was a thing. And finally, because limit poker is dying, the limit players are congregating together where their peers are, and out-of-towners follow suit.

If you're not already on the Strip, you don't have to deal with the traffic nightmare on the Strip. Also, although they have been moving upmarket (which saddens me) with their restaurants and bars, there are still relatively affordable places to eat in there.

As for why the grip on limit games, the answer is inertia. People go where the games are and it's extremely hard to displace them. The Venetian has tried multiple times with incentives to get the medium stakes LHE market, without success. Bellagio has the high limit LHE market sewn up. Ballys has 3/6 a lot because of promos, Flamingo had 2/4 but I've heard it's changed, and Mirage has 3/6. Kinda wish there was regular 6/12 and 8/16 somewhere.

There has been a regular 8/16 at Orleans.
Reasons why is someone else has explained.
Nobody goes to the strip to play 4/8 Hold’em (Bellagio) with parking fees, insanely expensive food options. Vegas is becoming a complete rip off, the greed keeps getting worse.

It really doesn't have much to do with not being on the strip. Don't forget the O8 action was at Venetian not Orleans and when Venetian cut the room in half. Raised the rake and lowered the comps the 100 or so players that play 4/8 8/16 O8 left and went to Orleans.

Well, given that I’d estimate 80% of the player pool is local, I’d think off the strip plays a significant part in that you can’t park free on the strip anymore. Plus getting there/back is just a traffic hassle many locals avoid.

I’m not saying if a Strip room made it worthwhile the games wouldn’t go back there, but I’d figure they’d have to offset the hassle and extra cost with reduced rake and better comps/promos than Orleans for most locals to relocate.

With all the Omaha that runs here, how come I never see PLO on Bravo? Does it ever run here, and if not, why??? I don't think I've ever even seen an interest list for it on Bravo. Seems strange.

I don't think that O8 and PLO share much of a player pool.

Is it worth making the trip from the strip to play 4/8 LHE. I like playing in Bellagio, the game there is plenty of soft for me but the problem is that it doesn't seem to be running daily anymore like it did 3 years ago. How's the competition in Orleans vs Bellagio?

Only Omaha high I have seen is 4/8 limit. They don't get the players for PLO they are at the Aria and Wynn and Bellagio

Does the room accept callins? If yes, how much time does one get to show up before being removed? Thanks for any help.

Hey guess I was the last one who posted here as well. Hehe.

First time I came out to Vegas to give it a **** at a living this was my home casino and I'm looking to give it another shot.

Was wondering if anyone knew the shirt stay month to month place that is like a 10 minute walk from here?

I think it may be called Emerald Suites? Tyvm

Maybe try LVL? The Vegas casino threads don't get much traffic since there is an entire subforum dedicated to Las Vegas.

Emerald Suites is across the street next to gas station at Cameron/ Tropicana intersection, basically if you exit the doors next to poker room to parking lot, it’s across the way.

Now the 10 min walk ones, are Budget Suites down on Tropicana driving towards the Strip.
