I played at The Orleans a couple years ago for a few months and Loved the room and they gave great cashback promos for hours played. I see this month they are doing top 100 hour earners recieve cashback. Do they usually do something like this or like when I used to play there cashback for certain amount of hours played per week every month still? Really appreciate it. Thankyou

They usually have the kind of promo you mention running where the top hourly in a month or week win contest money. The winners always play an insane number of hours.

They also often have a separate hourly promo for whatever game they are particularly promoting. For quite awhile now it has been the 8/16 limit holdem.

Yeah those winners seem to be the same group of 5 people who grind these promo hours at Orleans and Southpoint. One of them is this 70 something year old lady, in which I can’t seem to understand how someone that age has such stamina.

The first time I remember them having it was two years ago in December. The winner averaged over 17 hours a day. In December, which of course is a slow month for poker and has the holidays.

They had a big cashback promotion in August but I thought it made the games worse.

Worse compared to when? They pretty much always have some time in the game bonus promo going.

Worse compared to any other time I’ve been there. They were awarding people for playing a certain number of hours in the room. I can’t remember the exact number but something like 120 or 140 hours would get you $1k. And you needed a lot less than that to qualify for lower prizes like $500, etc. I think the minimum number of hours for a prize was 70 or 75 hours.

They also had some other hours played promo going that awarded the people that played a ton of hours in addition to awarding 8-16 players for playing a certain number of hours.

But when had you been there before? I think they have been doing that kind of promo pretty much constantly for the last two years.

This week and last week. I also was there in July. They definitely are not running the August promo now. Players were talking about it like it was a big deal.

They have some other promos now but they are harder to win because you have to compete with other players. With the August promo if you got your hours you qualified. You didn’t need to worry about how many hours anyone else played.

Oh, I see what you mean now. Although I'm surprised the two types of promos would have much different effects on the games.

It was 200 hours in August got you $1000
But 8/16 limit holdem got like time and half towards that promo and if you played any game between 2am and 10am was also time and half.

Gotta say, the place was mad house around the clock, but you’re right as it seemed play was much tighter because people were just putting time in.

I live nearby and it’s the first poker room that shows on bravo, remember them having like 14 games at 5am. Pretty sick for Vegas

It's not stamina, it's patience. It doesn't take stamina to sit in a chair. But today's ADD-riddled kids don't have the patience.

Also, the big determinant in game quality is where the bad beat jackpot is. When it gets up into the $90k range, people are just there to be taking up space when the jackpot gets hit.

Playing anywhere from 3-5 days straight with no sleep is not stamina? You’re insane.

It's a hi low room and people in there don't have the bankroll to play that game.

And I don’t see how they’d be able to afford paying $20 an hour on a 20 hour week basis. No way.
I remember 4/8 Omaha Hi back couple years ago they were paying $5 an hour of rake back, think they were trying to steal Boulder stations game

So 60 hours if you played all different games, so about 6.70 an hour.
