Tried calling and phone auto disconnected :-/ 2/5 is 9 or 10 handed? How long can I be away from table if I want to eat AT Jake's rather than at the table (more comfortable and relaxing to me). Someone can sit behind or no?

So how much softer are the 2/5 games here than Tampa? I wouldn't say the games in Tampa are tough but they are heavily reg infested and the absolute fish don't buy in deep enough and it makes for a very hit or miss game imo ime of ~ 200 hrs.

All games are 9 handed - you can be away from the table (as long as you have a stack) for 45 minutes before they'll pick you up. Someone can sit behind, yes.

I wish I could tell you. I've only played the $2/5 here a couple of times but never at Tampa.

I can tell you it's a minimum $200, max $800 BI - I believe that's different from what Tampa offers.

Haven't played there since April, that being said 2/5 games were on the nitty/standard bad tag style. Not much different from when I played in Tampa. The PLO games however, were very good.

Could somebody outline what the rake is on 1-2 and 2-5 NL? Also, is there any comp system worth speaking of? Thank you!

Rake: "The Poker Room takes 10% of the pot up to a maximum of $5 per hand. We also offer time raked games." (from https://orangecitypoker.com/poker/rules/)

Comps: They just doubled the amount of comps earned per hour beginning Jan 1st, 2018. However, it is still a very, very low amount - .40 cents/hour with the only withdrawal amounts being $20 & $50. Unfortunately, the stake/game you're playing has no impact on the comps, like it does at Hard Rock.

Additionally, they have begun running tournaments on off-traffic days, usually Mondays & Tuesdays.

I can’t seem to find the thread for Daytona Beach Kennel Club & Poker Room.

I would like to know how the Daytona poker room compares to Orange city in: rake (I play $1/$2), cleanliness, safety, competition, food, staff, and general atmosphere.

Has anyone here been to both rooms/have a suggestion for me? I only have time for one.

Thanks in advance.

I've only played at OC once and Daytona twice.. so take that into account.. I'm sure there are others that have been to both a ton.

they are both being ran under the same license, so I'd be shocked if the rake was different between the two rooms... especially seeing how the high hand promo's are shared between both rooms as well. that being said, I'm not sure what the rake is but I 'think' it might be a max of $7.

I went to OC once because I was already halfway there after taking wifey to the Orlando Airport. It's nice. Food is good, chairs are great, usb charging at the tables, and very very clean and spacious between the tables. The only negative would be the chips. They are very plastic-y and feel very cheap. It's a new room so the chips are clean/slick and they tend to fall over if stacked to tall, and a couple of times I saw them fall over the rail on to the floor.

Daytona is old. The chips are gross..dirty and just ugly. I didn't even bother to keep any to add to my collection. the player pool seemed to be a little on the ghetto side and at my particular table, EVERY SINGLE PLAYER that came to my table, over a 4 hr session, bought in for the minimum. From what I've been told, the action here is supposed to be great but was not the case for me. That being said, I only played cash there once and the other session was a tournament. Also, food was horrible. Got a grilled cheese sandwich because I figured you couldn't mess that up but was proven wrong when I was served toasted bread with cold cheese in the middle. No USB charging at tables. Also in my cash session, I found myself waiting on the dealer to tell the other players that the action was on them. I didn't know anyone here or had not played here before or else I would have been more direct. This kind of tilted me a tad as I felt like the dealers weren't keeping the game moving like they should.

Servers at both locations were not pleasing to the eye at all.

Both rooms have card shufflers.

Another room to consider that's kind of in the general area is Club 52 in Melbourne. That's my 'home' turf. Fri/Sat the servers provide a good view.

Looking to play around here in mid-May, glad you made this comment. Club 52 looks around 20 minutes from where I am staying and Datona and OC an hour and 15 drive. Do people buy in at Club 52 for the minimum or do you see 1-2 tables get a bit deep on a Friday/Sat night?

I'd say the 'average' buy in would be for half max, so $100. the other handful of players will come in for $200.. and then 1 or 2 buying in for something stupid, like $60.

as the night gets later, typically a 1/2 tables stakes game will open (it's really just a table that was previously $200 max that got deep and everyone agrees to make it table stakes). This will play more like a 2/5 gm.

Saturday Night there might be a 2/5 game that gets going but it's really hit or miss. Personally, I've stayed away from that game just because it only seems to last long enough for a couple of players to shoot their load and then the table breaks. 5/5 PLO took all the action players so now 2/5 has a hard time running.

any more questions let me know.. I've only put in 703 hours their over the last 2 years

Noles you must be a reg at Melbourne?
I've stopped in there 6 times over past 2 years and won't go again
very few games, OMC rock-pile short buy-ins
you raise pre they all look like they wanna beat you with a cane.

Daytona has gone down hill, all short buy-in High hand bingo players wanna see a flop for $2 and hope to hit HH promo
but many more tables going and after 5pm and weekends action much better
dealers and floor do lack direction from above and it shows
did lose players to OC as its 1/2 the drive from Orlando.

yeah I'm a reg there for sure. there are some OMC's but I think that's true for most places. if you go there during the week, you're right, there will be only a handful of tables running and typically all 1/2nl.

as far as the raising and getting beat with a cane.. I don't see it. maybe because everyone there knows that I'm betting my hands and going to be aggressive, but I've also befriended many of the OMCs there and if nothing more we're cordial with each other.

Fri/Sat nights, like most places, is the better nights for more tables to be running.

I actually went to daytona this past weekend and my experience hasn't really changed much.. it's simply not worth the drive for me.

a couple of us club 52 regs are going to be checking out west palm and coconut creek in a couple of weeks so that will be a nice change of pace.

anyways, if you/anyone else happens to stumble into the melbourne room and hear someone called by DJ, feel free to holler at me.

will do, and if you run into a middle aged guy with a heavy new england accent
firing away that'll be me.
I would agree weekend action almost everywhere is better than midweek mid day.

Not a bad room. The comps are pretty terrible, but that is to be expected when they're the only cardrooms in any direction for 100 miles. I've been playing weekends since May at 1/2 building a roll since I quit playing regularly after black friday.

Does anyone know if the cash game action is better at Daytona when they're running the big tourneys up there?

It's in the middle of nowhere, but plenty of action at the 2-5 and 5-5 here (several games going, especially on weekends), and it's always enjoyable. Players aren't as skilled as South Florida and Vegas. Food menu is varied but mediocre. Inconsistent application of the rules by dealers and floor. But overall no worse than other Florida rooms. Go check it out if you happen to be in central FL.

How is the 1/2 plo structured? Have a feeling would have to jump in for a Lil bit while waiting for 2/5 unlimited.

One thing to keep in mind for the 2/5 gm.. there is a player that goes there a lot and she is the most fake toxic person I've ever encountered. To the point that I avoid playing with this person because I feel dirty for fake-being nice. She goes by Tam or Tameka.

What are the pros and cons for choosing Orange City vs Daytona for 1/2 or 2/5 , assuming equal driving distance?

OC - new chips, better chairs, much better food, games are better (daytona very nitty at 1/2).

daytona - located in daytona.
