So they normally have $2/$5 LIMIT hold'em games going? That's very interesting for me, where I live it's hard to find less than $4/$8, which isn't horrible but since I'm still a relative beginner at live LHE it can be an expensive learning experience.

Anybody playing the $500+$50 Deep Stack event at Brantford on Sunday, July 27 with up to $50,000 prize pool? I played in a freeroll for the $550 buy-in in a Mississauga legal poker room, which also has rake-free cash games.

However, I also won online satellites to this Sunday's Majors, so I had to sell my $550 certificate. If anybody wants to join the next freeroll for a big casino tournament, you may PM me.

Typically for the 15k starting stack they give out 16 25s, 21 100s, 19 500s, and 3 1000s, which is insane and way too many small chips (and 59 phyiscal chips total). Even if they don't want to give out 5ks at the start and want plenty (too many) ante chips, something more in the realm of 12 25s, 12 100s, 7 500s, and 10 1000s would result in 41 physical chips to start and make stacks a lot easier to count as the tourney goes forward. In reality 8 25s/8 100s/4 500s/12 1000s would be ideal.
One possibility is that Brantford thinks that players will have less money after Christmas and Boxing Day so the $550 was postponed for January - March.

Personally, I'm ecstatic when I get 15,000 chips at Brantford so I don't care about the chip configuration. You can fill out the green feedback form to give your suggestion. Please include the suggestion to submit our results to Global Poker Index (and other online databases) so that we can see our cashes online.

Do you play 10-20 much? If you do I think I've played with you numerous times.

There were 93 players in the $550 Deep Stack on February 22. My buddy won the $14,415 first prize.

Nice... I wanted to play in the Satellites but the vig is just stupidly high. $100 + 30?? 30%?? really??

I would rather have 10 guys over to my place, top 2 get seats, $0 vig. (Maybe bring me a coffee or something)

I wonder if anyone regularly running these types of 'home game satellites' in the Brantford area.

It's actually $110+$20, but you're correct that rake-free satellites (RFS) would be even better. My friends and I were able to run three RFS in Georgetown for WPT Fallsview and will try to run more for the WPT Canadian Spring Championship, but it's very difficult unless you're an owner of an illegal club. Please post if you get enough players interested to satellite into a $550+ event.

Anyone have any details on the $200 super bounty on September 1st? Is it 50% of funds go to prize pool and 50% is bounty? Is there really a $50 fee to enter? Seems really high as that only leaves $75 towards prize pool and $75 as bounty?

25% rake makes no sense for a $200 Brantford tournament, so contact a poker supervisor (1-888-694-6946) to hopefully get it corrected before the Super Bounty $125 + $20 bounty + $50 overcharge on August 9. Its $180 tournaments have a fee of only $25, so it's either a mistake or they think Brantford players are stupid and don't care about the fees doubling. I was at Brantford on Monday, but I'll be travelling to a WPT event & don't know when I'll be back there next.

I called and was told the following... $125 for prize pool.... $25 for bounty and $50 fees.... Seems excessive so I won't go... Plus was hoping it was a super knockout structure instead of just a regular bounty tournament

There is a labour disruption at Brantford and Woodbine.

Quote:
OLG and UNIFOR Local 504 were unable to reach a collective agreement. As a result, OLG Casino Brantford will be closing at 10:00 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2015. OLG Casino Brantford will reopen at 9:00 am on Saturday, September 19, 2015 and will resume operations 24 hours per day, seven days per week throughout the labour disruption with the following operations affected:

All Table Games Operations will be closed, including the Poker Room
Retail & Coat Check will be closed
The Getaway Restaurant will be closed
The Express Bar will be open with limited menu options
The tournaments for next week, including the $230 Deep Stack I was thinking of playing on September 24, appears to have been cancelled for now.

Interesting to see how many regs make the trip down to Niagara for the extended period of time Brant remains closed.

Played there tonight and enjoyed it!!! To answer BuzzKillington's question, there were 3 tables of 2/5, one of 4/8, and several of 10/20. There may have been a 20/40 I'm not sure - I think they have 11 tables in all and only 3 were empty.

I'm exclusively a fixed-limit hold'em player with a limited bankroll so I was thrilled to see that they were spreading 2/5. That's what I sat. The first four orbits were the softest game I've ever sat it in my life. 5 to 7 people limping into every pot, chasing everything to the river, and never betting unless they can beat one pair. I raised KK UTG and got three coldcallers plus the BB. (Of course, I didn't win the hand, but that goes without saying hahaha). Sadly, after about four orbits it was like someone flipped a switch and everyone started folding! That was disappointing. At the beginning of that game I was like one of those cartoon characters that has dollar signs in his eyes when he opens them. After another four or five orbits, 4 people all got up from the table at about the same time. I got up too because I don't like to play shorthanded.

I have nothing negative to say about the casino. Reasonably easy to get to, easy to park, restaurants within walking distance, dealers are friendly and professional, other players were friendly - don't know what else one realistically asks for in a casino.

I will go back whenever I have the chance. I hope I get to go on a weekend sometime.
