Also are the poker games running 24/7 at the casinos and wich offer you the best selection of games? Thanks in advance!
yes the poker rooms are all night long and if your on finland time there are the best games during the middle of the night especially on weekends.

The best selection of games is The Borgata (does not compare to other hotels and not on boardwalk but a mini bus runs there regualrly) on the boardwalk the best ones are the Taj and the Showboat which are right next to each. on the other end is Caesars, trop, and a few smaller rooms with little choice over 2/5 or even 1/2nl

I would suggest look up hotels on www.hotels.com www.orbitz.com www.travelocity.com there is also an extended stay hotel (i forgot the name of it but I think it's in mays landing) with a kitchen, and also the best deal in town which is an old fashioned room with a bed and a shower at The Irish Pub.
but basically if you have a car just stay within about 15 - 20 min from the casinos and call up the motel and ask if they have a weekly rate (you might have to google them for the direct phone number).
I have done this alot before I got a seasonal rental down here and most the ones I called gave me a weekly deal.
if you want an upclass place, you can try the flagship hotel or even call some of the strip hotels like Trop or harrahs and ask if they have any specials for two weeks since that's not the busiest time of the year (you can even call a host, tell him your stock brokers looking to relieve some stress on a "gambling" holiday and you have large bankrolls he might give you the casino rate which is about the same as a cheap motel. I can even give you some names just dont mention my name lol)

The Hilton doesn't really have any poker. Maybe 1 or 2 tables somewhere on the floor.

And I for one certainly wouldn't say that the Showboat is 3rd best!

Hilton used to have a "real" poker room -- just an underfrequented one. Now, it has made the former poker room into Asian gaming tables and has moved like 2-4 poker tables to the main floor. Poker runs (I kid you not) from like 7p Friday til sometime Sunday.

well thanks to everyone for their help on this thread, just to give advice to anyone that's looking to move to AC for an extended period of time, definitely get an appartment / condo! theres shed loads on craigslist. basically looking at a grand a month in the midst of all the casinos by the water, still way cheaper than any motel, and the pads all seem to be really nice (have to still see them personally).

heading there tomorrow to spend a couple of nights at caesars with my girlfriend, 2 year anniversary....as well as choosing a place and signing a lease on one (nice cheap couple of days) then moving into my chosen appartment and starting full time grrrrinding - drop me a line if u have a place for rent because like I said im going to see them all tomorrow, has to be fo rimmediate move in on the 11th though.

anyway, thx for all the advice re: restaurants, casinos and everything, really good thread even though its tucked away in the travel section ;0) no doubt i'll be contributing a lot more as my adventures begin, just cant wait to get started, good luck.

Headed down there this friday for my bro's bachelor party. We're staying at the Taj, hope that there will be some good games this weekend if i can get away for a few hours (most of the other guys going are mainly into bj and craps).

Any tips on cheap but good food we can check out during the day? Also, any fun place on the boardwalk or off that we can have our official send off dinner?

Also, any tips on other thigns to do? originally we were going play 2 rounds of golf once on fri morning and once on sat morning, but the weather is not looking too promising.. just want some back up plans in case golf falls through.

thanks

Irish Pub on St James. Awesome place for a bunch of guys to hang out and right by the Taj.

I'm heading down to AC for the long weekend. I may give Flying Cloud a try as I've heard good things.

Went to Carmine's for a bachelor party a couple of weeks ago and it was solid

http://www.tropianotransportation.com

I think it's like 15ish each way to any casino in ACY. A taxi is 27 to anywhere in the city.

I searched the thread and the following questions have not been answered...yet.

(1) What is the best place to get breakfast in AC?

(2) What is the best place to get breakfast at the Borgata?

Thanks!

My experience in AC is limited. The quality of the breakfast meal at the small restaurant in the front of the Resorts is great. Crowded.

Depends on what you like. The Borgata has a really nice breakfast buffet. Bread & Butter at the Borgata has good breakfast sandwiches. Personally, I prefer the buffet.

Elsewhere in the city, 6ix a Bistro at Bally's has a really nice steak and eggs special for $7.77.

And Bill's, on the boardwalk with all the money taped to the walls, is also an excellent breakfast (or any other meal in a hurry) place to go.

Hey guys, currently in AC, wondering where is the best place to watch a lot of NFL games (Sunday Ticket)? Preferably Borgata (pokering there) or Trump Marina (staying there)... thanks

Today I watched the games at Game On! at the Caesars Piers. We had a good time. Lot of fans there. Food was OK, beer was cold. And a few decent waitresses walking around in small shorts doesn't hurt either.

I'd go there again.

HI guys planning a trip to ACY for this New Years with my gf. I have my plane tickets booked. I'm just wondering if there's enough stuff to do in ACY for a week with maybe one or two nights saved for gambling and one other for the David Gray Concert and partying. If not I'm probably gonna try and catch a shuttle to either Philly or NYC.
Thanks guys

Take the train to Philly for a day. It's not far at all.

bad advice

dont do this

Not sure about a whole week if it's not summertime, but there's definitely enough bars just in the Quarter in the Tropicana to spend an entire day hopping around.

There's enough bars and restaurants in the rest of the city to have another great day just walking around and chillin, especially some of the places in the Pier @ Caesar's. PM or post here if you have any more specific questions.

If you visit NYC and Philly, there will be more than you can handle for a week.

I would stay overnight in NYC though, since its two and a half hours each way between NY and AC.

Philly is about an hour, so you can stay in AC and hit up Philly...

bump for Christmas in AC...
