I went to Punjab Palace across from the Taj a few weeks ago for their buffet with a friend who was craving Indian food. The naan was the best we'd ever had, but the rest of the food was uniformly terrible. If anyone has had a different experience there, please let me know because I'd be willing to give it another try if we just caught them on a bad day.

EDIT: I second reyzor's question. Are those Asian $15/$20 for 20 mins places on the Boardwalk legit or just fronts for rub/tug? If they're the former, it seems like a decent deal.

Sadly, on July 15 or thereabouts it went from being a 1:1 on comps to a 2:1 for comps. Thus, all prices effectively doubled if one is using comps to pay for it.

Good food, and it is a nice lunch menu - if only the prices hadn't increased!

And it's not a good deal otherwise?

It didn't even cross my mind to pay for it with comps! That would have been a great idea.

If I'm using comps at Harrah's I'm going to the Deli, which is horrifically expensive but quite tasty with killer portions.

What's the best illegitimate massage parlor in AC?

If I had the answer to that one I'd be rich...

lol. Got my first fatburger the other night (late night when leaving borg, obviously) and just barely made it down to Sea Isle, exit 17 -- about the same hike in the opposite direction. Seems like you're on the clock as soon as you get your bag.

Also, I have some friends doing a bachelorette party in AC in a few months. They're on a budget and looking for suggestions of clubs/nightlife, good place to stay, etc. Obviously Mixx is the number 1 spot, but these girls are a little older (most around 32) and are looking for something a little more chill. And pretty much every waking hour I'm in AC, I'm either at a card table or at the Irish Pub, so I don't have much in the way of suggestions...

Send me their pictures, I will choose one or two to stay with me in my oceanfront apartment, complimentary of course...

Planet Rose (karaoke in The Quarter) is actually pretty chill and there's plenty of other options within a stone's throw of it if that's not their thing or it's too crowded.

How is AC doing?
Is it making an positive turn around?
Is hotel occupancy rates up ?
New restaurants ?
More shows?
Is there positive news about the delayed and canceled casinos projects , additions to casinos?

Or are they just waiting for full casinos to open in Philly before turning off the lights?

How is AC doing? It's still there

Is it making an positive turn around? Can anything in this town trun around positively?

Is hotel occupancy rates up ? Don't think so, it looks a tad slower.

New restaurants ? None I noticed in AC

More shows? Depends on what you like, I like boxing and there hasn't been any major fights lately

The Revel project keeps starting and stopping. I suppose some group of investors will pony up the money to get it finished. There is a great deal of money to be made for whoever opens the next new casino

Or are they just waiting for full casinos to open in Philly before turning off the lights?

God only knows...

August weekend bump...

I got four days comp in AC.We will use them the end of Sept. I have a pick of Harrah, Bally, Showboat and Caesar's.

We want a place on the Boardwalk so Harrah's is out. We would also like to have the use of a pool. Is AC too cold for an outside pool in late Sept?

If it is, we will pick Bally, if not Caesar's.
08-28-2009 , 10:43 AM
I've never stayed, but I think Caesar's is better than the other options, overall.

What would you guys do if you had to host a Bachelor Party in AC?

Im the best man in a friends wedding, and I think AC is the best option. There will be 10-12 of us, ages 28-32, and we all live in an around the Philadelphia area. The way I figure it, if I go anywhere else, I have to plan and pay for transportation all night. Going to AC puts the all night transportation money back in our pockets (which of course gets funneled into the hotel room cost), but also it can be an all night party and the fun takes care of its self more or less. I dont have to be worried about time schedules and I think having it in AC takes some pressure off of me in general.

So, gambling and extra service stripper money (personal lap dances, etc) excluded in the cost calculation, what would you do and where would you go if you wanted to budget a max of $200-250 per person? That would include hotel room, titties, and drinks. Gambling costs and extra stripper money would be on top of that, but thats each individuals concern. Out of deference to the budget of some people that may want to attend, I have to make it possible to participate for around that amount, even if I wanted to spend more.

The only thing that I can think of off hand is dinner first at Mortons, and then gambling, and of course some titties in the mix somewhere.. The last time I was to AC was before the Borgota was built.

We all like to drink, to puff, and whatever else, so don't hold back.. The only thing that I can say is that, in general, we aren't quite the 'clubbing' type of crew(especially the groom) but we like to party and would take any good suggestion to maximize our debauchery and fun quotient... including clubs, or whatever...We actually have a mix of stoner types(most) and type A personalities(a few) in the group..The groom is extremely mellow, but a lot of fun..

If in the same situation:

How would you maximize your fun?

What would be your Itinerary?

Thanks!

Lots of drinking and gambling. Bare Exposure. Ginsu Massage.

This should maximize your fun.

Good suggestion!!

But where should we go throughout the night, that will have the right mix of low stress for me in logistics and keeping everyone happy, and everyone having a good time?

I know it'll be hard to have a bad time, but what places do you like for this?

Should we go to a strip club, or have strippers in the room?

What Casino/Hotel?

Other Bars/Clubs?

Mortons, or a better option?

Ginsu massage sounds sweet. Id like to get one for the groom. Where?

Anything else?

In other words, if you were planning it, what would you do?

Thanks!

Casino and bar hop. The quarter at the Trop is fun -- Cuba Libre for rum, Red Square for vodka. Grab dinner anywhere: the Quarter has some places, the Pier by Caesars has a bunch too, theres a Hooters in the trop, or even just pizza on the boardwalk.

Bare Exposure is a strip club. Buy booze at the liquor store next door.

Ginsu Massage is an Asian massage parlor. Ask a cabbie. They'll know where you're talking about.

EDIT: It's Ginza massage.

Ate dinner Thursday night at Nero's at Caesars, suprisingly very good.

Ahhh...got it. I though 'Bare exposure' was a euphamism! Thanks... We can bring our own liquor into the club? Are the girls quality?

Im thinking we'll try dinner at possibly Mortons, unless I can find a quality place, that might be cheaper, on yelp...

So, the massage parlor is a Washy washy joint? lol..that question is almost rhetorical...Sounds good tho, its good to have options..

Do you think its better to hit the strip club, or to hire private entertainment in the rooms? I've never done the latter, and so wouldn't know about what might be better for 10 guys....

Man, I hate sausage fests of this magnitude, but its the nature of the beast I guess!

Thanks for the recommendations...

If it was my bachelor party, I would ask my boyfriends to take me to Carmine's in the Quarter at the Trop. Morton's is very good, just not bachelor party material, since I crash after eating a great steak dinner.

Carmine's pasta gets the carbs working for strippers and puffing...

Condo / place to stay 2 weeks for 6 people, is there a good place to search for these? Six of us coming there from Finland at 15th of November just to chill and play poker. It should be semi-cheap and near the casinos. Only found http://www.vrbo.com/ to be helpful so far.

Also are the poker games running 24/7 at the casinos and wich offer you the best selection of games? Thanks in advance!

Really? Everytime I eat at Carmines in the city I'm basically comatose for the next 12 hours.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the big carb load before drinking either. I like to coat my liver in a nice thick slick layer of fat first.
