I don't know about stone crabs, but I dined there a week ago and had a really nice (but somewhat pricey) lobster dinner.

If not, is there a decent Italian joint not in a casino? I'm bringing my wife down on monday (thanks borgata for the room) and want to dine at a non-casino/chain spot, if possible.
LaVola is the one downstairs, but its like a clique, and most likely you will be denied access.

Angelo's or Angeloni's which is on Fairmont and Arctic, respectively, up near Missisippi, both are operated by the same family.

I'll be at Bally's next week.

I tend to like getting OUT of the casinos to eat to get some fresh air.

I can't believe there is no mention of Tony Baltimore on Atlantic Ave behind the Trop. They have a very good pizza and an old-school barroom. The drinks and food are very cheap.

I like Angelo's by the Sheraton for low/mid priced Italian food. They have good pasta and fresh seafood.

Irish Pub, as mentioned, is good for having a bunch of drinks and obscenely cheap food. It's located sort of between Bally's and Resorts on a side street, IIRC. It's also a very good place very, very late-night, because there are sometimes female casino employees drinking after work, despite the dingy interior of the bar. There is also a porch.

Bill's, by Bally's, is good for cheap Greek food, dinner food, and take-out beer/booze.

White House is good for subs, but the line is a pain in the ass.

Dock's Oyster House on Atlantic is fantastic, but pricey.

I would second the mention of Adam Good Sports Bar in the Trop. The $5 40s Sun-Thurs are a great deal, and there are plenty of TVs.

Dock's Oyster House is excellent for seafood. If you want Italian, Il Mulino in the Taj is at the higher end of the spectum. Angelos and Angeloni's II are excellent for more morderately priced, red-sauce Italian food with old-school service.

JoJo's Italain Grill in Ventnor is really good. It's bring your own botle too...

I'm pretty sure I saw something like this before, but searching didn't turn anything up.

We'll be at the Borgata for a few days this weekend - with the kids unfortunately. What are the better beach areas in AC? Personally I'd just do the pool at the B, but the kids want to bury me in sand.

While we're at it, how is Steel Pier in the evenings? We've been there during the day (it's kinda almost nice and they have a BOGO on ride tickets on-line), but not after dinner time. Or should we just drive to Wildwood and take the kids to Moreys Pier instead?
07-21-2009 , 01:01 AM
Any of the beach areas are good - from the Showboat to the Hilton and on southwards.

It's really all the same beach, anyway. All purty sand and water. Some/most areas have lifeguards, so you'll probably want to stay in front of them for the kids sake, if nothing else. But lifeguards are in front of all the casinos and much of the rest of the areas as well.

Traffic/directions to AC is fine for the low-content thread in B&M if you want it in B&M.

As I mentioned to another poster via PM, you might notice that directions/traffic issues to, for example, Winstar, are OK in threads re Winstar because it's specific to Winstar and there aren't seven other poker rooms within a mile. Can anyone explain to me why it would be OK to derail a thread on Borgata poker with talk about generic directions/traffic info for Atlantic City (or a Venetian thread with traffic/directions info on how to get from LA to Vegas)?

If I asked where you guys normally eat during your poker session at the Borgata should that be posted in the Food and Beverge fourm or the Borgata?

Great question. You should post in the Borgata thread of the Food and Beverage forum. But wait! There's not a Food and Beverage forum. So the proper place for this question would be the Borgata thread in B&M, or the Atlantic City About Town thread in the Travel Forum, or even the low content thread in B&M. (Hopefully you'll see the distinction between asking for directions to AC and asking for the best food at a particular cardroom/casino.)

That's all I'll say on the issue in this thread; any future traffic/directions stuff to AC posted in AC poker room threads will be moved to low content or deleted. If you want to discuss further, please PM me or take it to ATF. Thanks!

Just found out that this thread was moved after months of not seeing it. I never would have found it here if there wasn't mention in the Borgata thread to come to this forum for AC traffic posts. I'm glad to see it's still alive, but I'll probably forget to check here for it and rarely see it again.

imo, way too many threads are getting locked or moved to where I would never look for them. A thread about AC belongs in B&M. I have no reason to go to a travel thread when everything else about AC is in the B&M thread.

It should be in B&M, otherwise AC should be its own forum in 2+2 communities, just like Las Vegas Lifestyle...

I have laid out my reasoning on the issue and your approach does not make sense. Just because you say that you are too forgetful to check the Travel Forum and/or are incapable of using the Subscribe to Thread option does not mean that the Brick and Mortar Forum becomes the Travel Forum.

Al, I personally would support and contribute to a 2+2 Community like LVL for AC. I don't spend an inordinate amount of time in AC, but I probably go at least six times per year for three days or so each time and I'm at the point where I have branched out to exploring areas other than just the casinos. (E.g., went to Chelsea Pub the last time I was there with some friendly locals I met in the Quarter. It was cheap and fun.)

The problem with just starting up a new AC "communities" forum right now is that I don't think there is enough traffic to justify it. It's sort of the same argument that is surfacing in the live strat forums debate, which I know Epon is privy to: once a topic has enough traffic to justify a new forum, admins are very receptive to starting a new forum. But the admins are not going to start a new forum on the suggestion that they can just close it down if there isn't enough traffic.

So the solution is for all of us AC regs to post more TRs, questions, threads, etc. in Travel. Once that happens, I would be happy to bring our case for a 2+2 AC community to the mod/admin collective and see what they think. I think there's enough posters who are AC regs to make this work, but I also think that they need to participate more in the Travel forum to show that there is an interest in things going on in AC other than poker.

Both of you please feel free to PM me if you have any other questions/comments on the issue.

Not sure if this has been mentioned already, but they have a quality, reasonably-priced lunch menu. A friend and I took a poker break there a couple of weeks ago and had two entrees for under $20.

I'snt it just bandwidth? Who cares if it is low traffic if it would be a useful addition! I would love to see an AC forum similar to LVL and think that LVL should be folded into travel if AC can not get its own forum so that at least travel gets some traffic.

Equal rights and exposure for Atlantic City!!!!! AC is the gambling Mecca of the east, and hence deserves its own forum; unless of course the title of the Las Vegas Lifestyle forum is changed to the Las Vegas and Atlantic City Lifestyle thread...

Where is the best legit Massage place in A.C.? The place doesn't have to give you a happy ending. I just want a really good deep tissue massage. I usually get one at the tables.
