Can anyone suggest things to do with kids, 3+6, in or outside of AC during the winter months? We normally visit during the summer, stay at Resorts, Taj or Showboat, just so we are close to the steel pier and that small version of games not to far before that on the boardwalk.. I know the smaller version has hours open just to those drop\claw games, but they had limited hours last time we were there. We will travel, we do day trips to Ocean City, Cape May, Wildwood.. Any towns within an hour distance from AC!!!!

I will be there during the first weekend of March, and would appreciate any suggestions to keep the kiddies busy during the day, and to help make sure it’s an early bed time at night!!

Thanks!

Also, we are staying at Resorts, what changes if any has Gomes made?

Can anyone inform me which hotels in Absecon are the most affordable and yet still have adequate and comfortable rooms without being a Flea Bag Motel? I may have to start staying there pretty soon.

Didn't see anyone review the deep fried burger--I'm a fan of Trinity's food in general and I like most fried beer battered foods, so I was surprised I didn't particularly care for the deep fried burger. I think the problem was that because of the cooking process you can only order it medium, and I prefer my meat rare.

Any recommendations for late-night/graveyard dining? The only place I saw mentioned in this thread specifically open late is the Chinese place mentioned, Hong Kong something or other, that's open late and delivers until 5am, although I could have missed something.. Off the top of my head, there's the Greek place, Bill's on the boardwalk, that's open 24 hours and has pretty solid gyros. Tony's Baltimore Grill's been mentioned and I believe they serve until 3am (bar open 24 hours), which has decent pizza, pasta, meatball sandwiches etc. Di Roma on Atlantic not far from the Trop is another pizza place open 24 hours that has decent pizza and sandwiches.

Anywhere else that's ok, or anywhere with decent graveyard specials? After a late session I usually eat at Bill's but sometimes I'm in the mood for something different.

Irish Pub on St. James Place is probably the best 24-hr place in my experience. It has delicious fried foods, giant salads, reasonably-priced beers, and a good jukebox. They don't take credit cards, so remember to bring cash.

+1

I've probably made several posts itt saying this; Irish Pub is our go-to place. It's so damn cheap, and it's great for hangover recovery -- except they don't start serving food until noon, so if you *need* some chicken fingers at 11:30, you're SOL.

Also it's good to grab a (very) casual dinner and cheap drinks as people are getting into town; +1 to the jukebox also.

edit: going this weekend ftw!

Other good options include "6 A Bistro" at Bally's, which is open 24/7 and "The Deli" at Harrah's, which is open through most nights (but, sadly, almost never during the day).

since the first time i discovered that place i havent made a trip to ac without going there...

only thing is its a little seedy, because its so cheap a lot of the "locals" hand out there. the last time i was there was a week after a pimp punches his "ho" in the face and when a bardtender tried to intervien the pimp stabbed him to death...

all in all tho great food and cheap beer..

looda -

I've already posted this in the marketplace. So hopefully I'm not thread capping here, but I've got plenty of nights at the Taj. If you would do a Friday-Sunday or Saturday-Monday stay I could book this for you. For obvious reasons I can't give this to you for free.

Just let me know if you have an offer. PM please.

Cool, I knew the Irish Pub was open 24 hours for drinks but I didn't know they served food late too. I've been there enough times I probably should have asked.

I go down to AC for multi-day trips and usually stay at a CET property or Trump. Is there a cheaper gym than the $20 p/day one at CET in AC?
03-14-2011 , 04:48 PM
im staying at borgata...can i walk to harrah's and trump marina from there?
03-14-2011 , 04:51 PM
Not really---jitney it imo i think. ask bell at borg, if you insist on leaving the only decent hotel in ac.
03-14-2011 , 04:53 PM
i collect chips and dont have any from those places...
03-14-2011 , 04:54 PM
you can do it, i've done it, but it's not really easy or enjoyable. you have to cross highways and it's not easy to see where to walk. they're not super close or connected by a boardwalk unfortunately. jitney is a good option. cab should only be 5 or 6 bucks between borgata and harrahs too, and i'd say its worth it after making the walk once.

I haven't been to Atlantic City in about 2 years. Are there any notable changes in terms of updated poker rooms, new restaurant/bars, shops, etc? Was just reaching out to any regulars or those who have been there recently. I usually stay at Tropicana and play poker there and Borgata and eat at different places. Would be nice if there were new things going on since I was last there, thanks.
03-15-2011 , 12:52 AM
showboat updated their room. borgata is the only room to have maintained high volume in the poker room (trop is lacking considerably reverted the room expansion they had put in before back to slots). unless it hits before then, the taj is the place to play poker right now thanks to a near record bbj (over 600k as of this morning). not too much new in town since 2 years ago. the outlets expanded a bit so the center of town has nice shopping and some clean streets. caesars has spruced itself up, but i think that was a little before 2 years ago. harrah's has fancied itself up a bit in recent years too and still gets a consistent flow of local poker players. others may be able to chime in with new stuff that i haven't noticed or have forgotten to mention. good luck.
