I stayed there once and it's ok but certainly not fancy. Essentially the Annex holds mostly-renovated old school motel rooms from the 50's. The beds are new, everything is clean but the bathrooms are "vintage" read: unchanged for 50 years.

However, the joint is clean and the Annex is fine. Keep in mind that the Annex side of the hotel is something of a party zone. TONS of younger kids hanging out drinking etc. It looks like great fun if I were still 22.

Anyway, the other side of the Chelsea is completely different with much nicer rooms.

Hope this helps.

WHAT?!? There's mini-golf at the top of Harrah's?!?!?
05-13-2010 , 11:35 AM
Great post Lee. From what i remember though, the mini-golf on Harrahs is as bare bones and as old as you can get. This was several years ago though. You're much better off going to the one on the Boardwalk by the Plaza.

If you need to talk w/ someone at Harrahs, go to their website, click on Harrahs AC and find the contact number. I'm pretty sure it's 1-800-HARRAHS.

FYI, Harrahs is not on the Boardwalk, but rather next to Borgata.

As far as the # of people sleeping in the room - just get two queen beds and when you check in don't bring 6 people up to the clerk, end of story. They will never know as long as you dont tell them.

Experience speaking.

Actually, we've never had a problem anywhere, even with the massive packing-in of friends, even with security called at least twice in one night, and even with someone having thrown up in the hallway and another having thrown up in the bed.

I've never played the course at Harrah's. I know of it from having seen it out the window.

A couple of other eating options that are good, and less expensive, include the Deli at Harrah's for sandwiches - but it opens late at night, and the Bread & Butter at Borgata. Also good sandwiches.

6 a Bistro at Bally's has decent food, and is open 24/7. They have a $7.77 steak and egg special that is good for the price.

Noodle bars are your friend. :-)

Bills Gyro - on the boardwalk just south of the Ripley museum - is also very good and inexpensive. Sort of a diner with money taped all over the place.

how do i get cheap hotel rooms? is getting comped the only way to get a discount rate in AC or are there websites to go to?

Also, which hotels do you prefer? I want to do borgata but it's not very close to the strip. Is it worth it?

Has anyone been to any of the clubs in the Chelsea Hotel?
06-05-2010 , 04:50 AM
So my bday weekend was this past weekend, and Im a little disappointed over the info I got in this thread over AC.

Tropicana may have been a cheaper place to stay but I was pretty displeased with the place overall. The imax theatre was playing shrek and some other bs. The general decor and feel was not like a casino. Hard to explain, but it wasnt exciting by any means. As opposed to going to Caesars, right away, I was like "this is where i want to be"

The towns pretty dead on the weekdays as far as I can tell.

And the club and party scene definitely seems to be at Borgata. "Murmur" "The water club" and I guess theres a pool party at harrahs that seemed to be good.

I didnt go to any of these cause I wasnt informed in time.

The strip clubs are pretty lame as far as I can tell. "Bare" was a $20 cover with $30 dances I guess. Didnt go.

Overall, AC was awesome and I had a great time. I just wouldve done things differently if better informed. To each his own tho

So what are the best places to get food? So far i'm thinking about going to white house sub shop (was there last year) and the borgata to get the burger everyone talks about. Also where can i go to get a good massage (happy ending possibly)?

Chelsea Pizza always dependable and their cheesesteaks and sandwiches are really good 609-344-4141. I've had them deliver to the Taj Poker Room on several occasions with no problems.

I'm heading into town next week. Any good new restaurants or bars?

I have been to AC many times but usually just play poker at the borgata. I am going for a friends birthday, with 4+ ppl who have never been to AC.

Are there any good offers for first timers? I know Harrahs properties used to give a "passport"/coupon book to ppl who register with them for the first time? Any other places/offers I should look into?

Can anyone tell me if the Passport Inn Atlantic City is nice or any good at all? I have made a reservation there but I don't know if this place is any good. It's not the same Passport Inn in Absecon. It's located at 100 N Albany Ave
Atlantic City. It was the cheapest place I could find for a weekend in the end of July. All comments welcome and what not.

The last couple of times I stayed outside in Galloway, there were some really cheap and nice places out there (4 nights for like $110 for Country Hearth Inn when i was there in March) and they have a supermarket among other small and nice places to eat there. I managed to do quite a bit on a $100 food budget lol.

Anyone have a clue about Brigantine on here? As in the way of rentals ( summer/year round) what the neighborhood is like? Looks like its pretty convenient to the marina hotels ( easy commute to play)

I have been to Atlantic City many times, here's my opinion on places discussed up above that I have been to...

Corkys in the Tropicana- bad food, takes forever to get your food, and fly's everywhere, I also witnessed a customer that was eating there, ask someone working there for mustard, and they were confused about what it was. (true story lol)

A damm good deli in Tropicana- over priced, food was ok.

Hooters in Tropicana- Hooters is hooters, hot waitresses and good wings.

PF Chengs in Tropicana- Good prices, I suggest the salt and pepper calamari, seems busy all the time but they will have a table for you, I usually order whatever I want ahead of time and then go pick it up.

RiRa in Tropicana- Great place to get food or a drink, I suggest the RiRa burger.

The Red Square in Tropicana- Very expensive, Cheapest entree I believe is $28, I had the Chicken Kiev, its breaded stuffed chicken and is good, I have also had the duck which was good, I personally like the appetizer menu more, The Siberian Nacho's are amazing, there topped with smoked salmon and a tiny bit of caviar on the top, also the calamari there is great it comes with some sweet and sour sauce that is one of a kind and a must try, This place is obviously one of my favorite spots in ac, The atmosphere there is amazing its dark but with dim red lighting, on the bar they have a solid strip of ice, and some of the most expensive vodka's, I myself had a 38 dollar shot one time.

The Palms in Tropicana- I don't know why everybody raves about this place, I ate there once with a group of people, expensive and not worth it in my eyes.

Panda Express Borgata food court- 3 choices of food, huge plate, huge soda, 10 bucks.

Breakfast Buffet in Trump Marina- A lot better then you would expect, huge strips of bacon.

Cosmos Pizza in Trump Marina- One of the better pizza places in AC in my opinion, the prices are high.

The Deli in Harrahs- Good subs, strange way of ordering consisting of you using a touch screen computer, and there's only 3, and people are dumb so the lines usually long and takes forever, not to mention the food is overpriced.

Those are some of my reviews, go to the Red Square!
