Oh sorry. N=1 means a "sample size of 1". Sounds like the 5-10 game has run about exactly one time since it was listed on the board as a possibility.

One guy mentioned to me that he thought it had something to do with the odd buy-in/cap amounts (I think it's something like 800-3000), but I can't remember what his reasoning was as to why he thought it was a problem. The 5-5 has a 300 min buy in so maybe he thought 800 was excessive and might discourage some potential players.

I think it's more a matter of habit, both with the players & the floor. Nobody is used to playing it so they don't sign up for it.

If you want the game to go it will. Put your name on the board, talk up the game to the other players , tell the floor, especially Russ (a small advance toke won't hurt), try to get the board girl to call it down. If I get to Oceans early this Friday and the 10-20 isn't close to going, I'll do my best to get the 5-10 started.

There are players who want to play this game, almost everyone who used to play the 10-20 and has moved down and many action players from the 5-5.

The 5-10 started about 1:30 today. There was a mix of 5-5 and 10-20 players. Good action, IMO better than either 5-5 or 10-20 although obviously a minimal sample. Russ, one of the floormen, said it also ran this Thursday.

Sarga--Thanks for the update. This sounds really promising. I am going to try to make it next Thursday or Friday. I'm actually not too surprised that this game is getting off the ground. I was getting the distinct feeling that the 10-20 uncapped game was becoming problematic for alot of the players. I would not be surprised if the 5-10 game brings people back. I think it's a nice middle ground between 5-5 and 10-20. I also love the fact that it's capped at 3000 so that some "deep stack" play will be possible.

I played 5-10 at Commerce this week and, although there were some marks (prob more than O11), I hated the 1500 cap which really doesn't allow for alot of creativity/fun.

Any LHE players here,
Wondering if anyone plays the 20 or 40
I played the 8-16 when I was in town last week (first real limit session since college, when it was still the game of choice) and was considering playing the 20 or 40 next week
Is it markedly tougher? Just as loose, but more aggressive? Any tips are greatly appreciated.

Is anyone interested in getting a small mix going Saturday night? 4/8 with something like HOTE or something similar? Just enough to get your mix fill and just enough to get random fishies.

Last Monday there were two 20 games going strong with the must move at least with 3 "play any two" types. I was playing the 8, I should have followed a certain someone when she went to the 20, I was up 3+ racks in the 8, went card dead, maybe even a little cold decked, dropped back 2 of the 3 racks, would have been better testing the 20.

This Tuesday night (12/13), Ocean's 11 is going to introduce a new mixed game:

PLO and NLHE.

The game will start with standard PLO $1-2 blinds, same as the regular Friday night game.

Then every dealer push (approx. 40 minutes), the game will change to NLHE with $2-5 blinds.

(Ocean's will display a two-sided placard reminding players and dealers which game is being dealt.)

They will also advertise the new game on both room's tv monitors.

The buy-in for this mixed game will be $200-500, and food will be comped.

Hope to see you there!

Update to the Mixed Game format at O11: Frequency of changing games

The game will change each time around the table (and not with each dealer).

e.g.: Full table. Seat one starts with the button. Dealer deals nine hands of PLO. When button returns to seat one, dealer deals nine hands of NLHE. And so on.

If the table is short-handed, nothing changes. Game alternates each full loop.

The new "mixed" game ran strong on Tuesday night at O11. Lots of new players sat in the game including Gavin Griffin, who played all night! Game is scheduled to be played on Tuesdays, but will run whenever there is enough interest.

$200-500 buy in (no jackpot drop!). PLO / NLH mix. (also known as: "Round by Round", "Half half", or "HA"). game alternates every orbit around the table.

PLO = 1/2 blinds, $5 bring in, no straddle. max open raise is $15. running the board multiple times when all in is ok when agreed by all active players.

NLH = $2/3 blinds, straddle is allowed. no option to run it when all in.

oceans 11 is attempting to get approval from the gaming commission to make the NLH round with $2/5 blinds (instead of 2/3) to be closer in size to the PLO game.

Anyone know about Oceans 11 20-40 limit game on a Friday? I'll be in San Diego Friday late morning through Monday night and I'm looking to play some 20-40 limit on Friday. What time does the game usually start? Do they usually have a must move along with the main game? 2 must moves? When does the main game usually start? How about the must move? Is the action good/bad/ugly...?

Responses would be much appreciated!

Thanks.

Can't tell you when it starts as I don't get there til evening, but on a Friday I usually see two 20s and a 40. Competition is about the same as the 8, with a bit more aggression and more high-card calls in my limited experience.

Went to oceans late last night. Haven't been there in about a year. I noticed they got new brown table felt and also relocated the restrooms. Played 1-1 from 2am-7am. It was one of only 2 games going on in the secondary room. The other game was 2-2 I believe. Had fun. Went through 3 buyins in no time then was able to grind it back up. Pretty much all regulars at my table in their 50s+. One guy kept falling asleep lol. Good times will return.

They increased the buyin on just about every annual tournament they run, which is a bummer for someone like me who is looking to play tournies in the $100-250 range

Are they still running all the limit hold'em games mentioned earlier in the post? 8/16, 20/40, and 40/80?

Thanks!
