Ocean makes its welcome return! Played there on July 4, happy to see a big crowd at the hotel, casino & beach; only 3-4 poker tables going, but hope for more players soon.

I love the room being a roped-off area right on the casino floor; unfortunately it's all slots at that end now (unlike Revel's roulette, etc. in that spot). Chips are nice, and even better they have the Revel tables, with felt ringed by flat hard surface for drinks. Ocean lacks Revel's luxury of real glassware, however.

Frankie, nice to see you here! Your Revel room & staff were the best, while it lasted. Thanks for the well-wishes to Ocean and AC.

edit: Oh and the Amada restaurant is reopened, which is fantastic, and there's a noodle bar now just a short way from the poker.

Yes, I received an offer for 2 days
(Comped)
A week in July and August, a couple
Of days ago.
(I only play poker.)
How much time
Does it take to check-in and
Get a room key?
I would have received a better
Offer, if I spent less of my
Time in long lines and
Waiting on hold on the phone
For hours, only to have
My call transferred to
The wrong department.
I haven't found a single
Shift manager who understands
How comps and tier points
Are distributed. And the little
Information I have been given
Has been wrong or recently changed.
Despite all this confusion, I should
Be at 25K tier points and 200 comps
Soon, am already over 10K tier
Points and 100 comps.
Not having enough staff or
Proper hours to give out cards
Helps explain today's
NorthJersey headline:
"AC casinos underwhelm"
Ocean would have earned
More money in the first 4 days
if the line to the player's
Lounge was shorter and the
Long lines to get a card and
Get a room key were
Properly addressed,
Especially for the
Black and platinum
Card holders,
Meanwhile I have been
Very impressed with
The experienced and
Competent poker staff,
And it has been a rare
Pleasure to teach the
Young and beautiful
Cocktail waitress
How to do their jobs.
They'll now have work
Experience from this
Summer employment
For when
they
Graduate from high school
Next year.

I received two comp nights (already booked a Saturday & Sunday) for playing 8 hours of poker. I play poker only.

I have a matched black card, not sure if that matter. (I already used the black card two free nights).

I'll be there Tues - Thur next week with the wife. I've blocked out Wed day/night for poker, figure it will be a good way to grind some hours. Glad to hear about the comped nights from poker. As I look at the Black card benefits, I'm wondering if I should get back there now, get the Black card and get a better rate/comp/upgrade for next week?

Which restaurants have you guys tried? Thoughts?

I know I'm happy about a few that stayed, and bummed that Village Whiskey is gone.

If you get the Black Card today,
you may be able to get one or
Two nights comped for next week.

The Black Card will also
Allow you to bring
The wife in for free
At two different
Player's Lounges.

Beyond that, i walked around to
All the restaurants, coffee & bagel
Shops, gift shops, and breakfast places,
& all of them accept
Comps one-to-one,
which are $2/hr at 1-2 NL.
(I only visited about half
The stores/restaurants/shops)

As folks have received mixed
Results getting earned comps,
I suggest
Keeping track of your play and to
Leave a note with the supervisor
If you don't get your comps.
Put your time played,
start time and end time,
day, name,
and card number on your
Request.

You can check for your
@TheOceanAC
Tier points, comps,
And other Promotions
On the kiosk machines.

Thank you. Might head down tomorrow. If not, I'll get the Black Card prior to check-in and see what they can do (maybe upgrade to suite?)

Neato. I've only ever been in the Amphora.
Is there a charge to go into the Player's Lounges?
Are they much different from each other?
Light food, drinks?

Happy to hear 1:1 comps.

Any favorite places to eat yet?

Fine Dining - We're fans of both American Cut and Amada for dinner. I suspect we'll hit brunch at Harper's as well.

Villain & Saint menu looks good.

Zhen-Bang is going to happen.

Neat. Is it rolling accumulation? How long does is usually take from end-of-play to comps registering? Chance of using comps earned in the morning for lunch when I decide to break?

Can't believe I forgot to check/ask earlier... do you know of a lounge that allows cigar smoking? I'm usually sitting in a smoking slots area when taking a cigar break. If I'm breaking at the right time at the B, I'll hit the high limit area bar/lounge. Occasionally I'll sit at the Racebook if it's not crowded.
Yes, if the weather cooperates, I'd prefer to sit outside with a view. But that doesn't always work out.

Thanks again.

There's no charge to
Go into the Player's
Lounges if you have a
Black Card.

(The more exclusive
Player's Lounge
Tends to have lighter
Fare and a smaller
Selection, but check,
Because they sometimes
Will have something
You want that isn't
In the other buffet.)

Smoking and Bathrooms
Both a short walk.

Comps will register
Immediately upon
Completion of play.

I like Harper's or
Cafe 500 for breakfast,
And Distrito for Mexican food.
I haven't tried Amada, American Cut,
or Dolce Mare yet. The Grind is the
Place for Starbucks coffee and a bagel,
& they open at 5 AM

I ate at the restaurant/bar that I *think* is in the same spot as the Village Whiskey. I'm not certain since I was only at The Whiskey once. The new place is pretty hood. Large beer selection, live music & the burger was excellent.
But... it was a bit overpriced.

Cool. If I make it down, I'll check them both out, assuming the lines have died down a bit.

Smoking slots? Lounge? Bar?

Cool. If I get an early start, I'll tell the dealer to log me out and my comps should be there for lunch. Or I'll hit the players club for free.

Coffee and bagels... perfect. Starbucks... I'll manage, or get iced coffee from the waitress first

Trip Report

I arrive just after noon, looking to tier match from the Hard Rock. The line is long, but not crazy long. A minute after I arrive, a worker arrives and let's us know there is no line at the box office desk, and we can get it done there. Someone else asks if she can walk us there, and about six of us head over.

They are happy to give me the Black Card, based on the Rock Royalty I got from the Hard Rock with my mlife gold (that I got with the Hyatt Card trick a while ago). $100 slot dollars, a couple comped nights and assorted other perks.

i head up towards the lobby, see the VIP Check in door and go in. Yes, it's for Black card holders. No, they don't book at the hotel itself?!?!?! I call, the autobot says it's at least 10 minutes and I request a call back. I spend 10 minutes walking around, and head down to the poker area.

Did I mention I passed the poker area on my way to get the card? It's near the box office and 2 guys were playing HU when I went to the lobby. I get back down and there is almost a full table. Check in with the floor and he sends me for chips, conveniently next to the poker area. Darkest cashier area I've ever seen.

I bring my chips to the table, it sounds like there are a few regs already. Action is passive, nobody aggressive at all, but some calling stations. I chip up a little bit with good cards, the table fills and the waitlist is started.

One player gets up, the floor is notified by a reg that another reg on the list is a text away. Unsure if she is next up on the list, but he locks up the seat for 15 minutes and she doesn't respond to texts or calls. Another reg sits.

I break for tacos, they were close, quick and delicious. $12 for 3 tacos ain't cheap, but considering the location, price was understandable.

Back to the table, the 2nd table has started to sit. Unresponsive reg has arrived and is 100% OK with going to table 2. Eventually they open the table, maybe 6 handed, and almost immediately, a couple regs ask to move. The floor delays moves a little, but eventually moves a player, the seats a new player at table 2, then a few walkers at my table, and suddenly it feels like we're much shorter than the other table. C'est la vie.

One of the regs seems super annoying. Talks non-stop to a rotating group of regs, wants to change to 1-3, wants to change tables, starts calling the floor and telling him to change one table to 1-3, that there are at least 8 players who will play it. A woman who is short stakes, mentions she isn't interested, and I ask what the difference in comps is going to be. Table talk indicates a big jump in comps, after a few minutes the floor confirms no change in comps. Talk of 1-3 dies. The table change request is repeated, the floor doesn't seem to want to move that player, and we are actually a player shorter at this point. I speak with the floor away from the table, express my concerns with players moving from shorter table to full table. He says that the poker area manager allows it when it is only one player shorter. I'm surprised and tell him as much. I also tell him that when he lets the regs start doing these things, that the casual players see it and may not return. He later tells the reg that he can't move. Reg seems dumbfounded, but stays.

I wrap things up with a few more chips than when I started, always nice. I check back the the floor, thank him for doing what's right and tell him I'll see him next week. He thanks me for coming and I leave the area.

A quick stop into the Players Lounge. With a black card I'm told it's comped and I can bring 3 other people. The mini-buffet has some cold salads, peel and eat jumbo shrimp, chipotle chicken, pasta, baked fish, mac and cheese and desserts. The iced coffee is good enough. The loud couple behind me is super inappropriate and annoying. Another waitress badmouths them and we chuckle.

I leave and look forward to returning next week. Should be able to burn a few cigars at the smoking slots, outside on the decks, any maybe I'll check some of the high limit room for a bar/lounge.

I wasn't able to find the 2nd players lounge. I was told it was across from a high limit area, but didn't see it while wandering, and it wasn't on a map.

Back in the car, i call for reservations. I find out that my wife gave my number when she signed up for her Revel card, and they think there is a problem, because I don't sound like a person with her Chinese name. We get it figured out, chuckle and it's pretty quick to book my comped room, and cancel her discounted but not comped one. Black card request for a suite upgrade is noted, but can't/won't be honored until check-in. Sounds like a good reason to get there early. We'll either get an early start, or I'll check in and then we'll go back out to tier match her to my mlife, hit the hard rock and then she'll get the black card at Ocean. I suspect the cards will be downgraded after 90 days, but maybe I'll play a bunch in August before returning to work?

Thanks for the info on the thread. Arriving next week and trying to get a card and rebook would have been a nightmare and cost us at least a couple hundred if we couldn't rebook.
