Well, Ocean has officially vanished from Bravo Poker Live. It was there on Friday and by Sunday the description and promo sections were wiped out and empty, then it totally disappeared on Monday evening.

Also, all mention of poker is gone from the website as well. I don't think poker at Ocean will ever return.

Here's hoping maybe Hard Rock adds a room??? We can dream, right?

Getting them in advance doesn't seem in the cards. You can play x-amount of hours and get a room that night but I have a wife and sometimes teenage kid in tow and we can't hope to get a room.

I used to get two free rooms a week from them in the day but not in ages.

It was a valiant attempt to carve out a place on the Boardwalk for poker in a reopened house after the Revel shut down . Hats off to the dealers who resurfaced from the Taj's closing agreeing with some previous posts about the nits who chase the promos, it's on to an other room and another seat for high hands or a dry run out for the bad beat. I'm sad that the Hard Rock doesn't seem to be interested in a card room on the boards but understanding the massive change this property achieved, if the market shows the possibility perhaps the boardwalk will have an other giant of poker in A.C.

In the grand scheme of things it is not bad that the room closed. The city (AC) can realistically support 3-4 poker rooms. Some degree of consolidation is a good thing...

Borgata will be the last standing casino most likely. If new york opens a casino I don't see AC surviving. All the big spenders come from out of town.

AC had a strangle hold on the gambling economy in the East coast for a long time and they didn't use the money to rebuild the town. Who knows where all that money went but the party is almost over.
There are casinos open everywhere now and there continues to be demand for AC because AC has nice ocean coast line. I have been to Catskills/Parx/Sugarhouse/MarylandLive and the only thing worse about going to a casino in the ghetto is going to a casino in the ghetto in the boonies. Brigantine/Ventor are quite nice little beach towns.

Despite dire predictions, AC casino revenues have been going up year after year. Going to a shopping mall (Maryland Live) in some random MD burb is not quite the casino trip experience that people get from AC.

There is exactly 0 chance that poker will come to NYC. The only people that care about this and keep talking about this is a few poker players. Casinos are not going to pursue the one thing that takes the most effort to make the smallest amount of money... in a slowly shrinking market... Casinos in Vegas and all around have been slowly closing and downsizing rooms for the past decade. There will be no second boom and it is just a shrinking market now.

Where all the AC money went is not a big mystery. Investors and shareholders got rich, and AC like most gambling towns including Vegas continue to be ghetto dumps. This is a parasedic business that drains local economies and creates local problems (drifters, druggies, homeless, gambling addicts, etc.). They don't even provide much tax revenue for the city, if property tax rates are any indicator. AC property taxes are outragious.

Agreed to all the praise for A.C. assets, the beach communities and the seaside lure of Brigantine and Venture ,perhaps this comment should be set in the A.C.string. The ocean poker room is closed as of this time.Love to read up on the good spots for a fish fry or hotwings, pizza and cheese steaks and the jamming beach down near Stockton, god bless those co eds This year will be great on the beach just watch the A.C. thread but the Ocean shuffles no more.

It's definitely not 0. 2023 is the first year downstate casinos can start applying for licenses for table games, including poker. There is already a regulatory framework for them to get approved though. MGM bought Empire City, and I don't think they're particularly dumb. Cuomo is pro gambling. It very well could happen in the next 5 years.

Either way, I don't think it would mean "the death of AC". It would certainly make a dent, though.

Well, I looked last night and at one point on Saturday Trop had 11 tables with 15 on the list for 1/2.

What was going on there last night that we didn't know about?? Lol

I stayed at Ocean one night last week and I made sure to complete my "post stay" survey. Of course, I mentioned that they should bring back the poker room!

FWIW, it really is a nice hotel/casino. The room I got, which was comped, was considerably better then the comped rooms I get Bally's and Tropicana.

Has anyone been to Ocean's recently? I am going next weekend and curious to know what the scene is like currently.

Played BJ there 2 weeks ago with my father in law. It's the same. No poker here, though.

Ocean was in the process of nuking my offers pre-COVID (played a bit of BJ, craps, and fed a hundo or two into VP/slots). I tried to get them to make me a return offer one time about a month or so ago and they had zero interest. Be curious to see if they change their mind when the winter hits.

Wife and I spent 3 midweek nights there in July. We were both big fans of Revel, and had returned to Ocean a few times pre-pandemic. This was our first post-pandemic trip. I think we got a promo rate on the room, but not comped.

We decided to do a cabana, instead of the other pools. Was a great idea, the open to everyone pools were jammed. Highly suggested for some quiet relaxing time during the day.

Caffeccino was a relative bright spot. 24/7 coffee, pastry, sandwich place in the lobby.

There were plenty of people there, without it seeming crowded. I played some slots and enjoyed a few cigars. I went to Borgata each night for poker.

I was able to tier match and finagle premium cards when Ocean opened. I deserve and was placed on the lowest level card with the new system.

Zhen Bang has always been better than good. Amada is my favorite meal in AC. Tried Council Oak Seafood at Hard Rock, won't return.

Strolled the boardwalk down to Hard Rock for dinner. Busy, but not packed on the boards. Hard Rock had pockets of packed people, and some areas that were much less crowded.

We loved Amada also -- have you been to Dolce Mare? That was our favorite at the Ocean. Also Distrito...definitely might have to start playing some blackjack here again, but miss the poker room being there and giving us room offers, even if just for the off season.

We have been to Dolce Mare. Had a good meal there a couple of times, but was really hoping for great meals. We did have a great waitress.

American Cut was fantastic, but it's a bit more than other steakhouse options which are just as good. Went once during restaurant week and felt better about paying a discounted rate.

Distrito has always been a good snack. A couple of guys were digging into some food while playing poker and I ended up offering to buy for anyone that wanted. Only a couple took me up on it. I must have just doubled through someone. I usually don't drink or do stuff like that.

While rambling on non-poker Ocean things... I'll say that I love the burger at Villain and Saint as well. Lots of great choices there too. Wife was fan of the lobster special too.

Thanks for everyone that replied.

I was there on Saturday with another couple and we had a great time.

KISS played at the Hardrock next door along with Tiesto at Ocean's so definitely an interesting crowd and got pretty packed at night. Not a lot of masks within hotel itself.

Amada is probably my favorite restaurant in Ocean's - fantastic food and venue. Villian & Saint is a cool place to have drinks.

Was able to play some BJ before dinner and caught a hot shoe before our reservation. FYI, got comped a king room for the Saturday night we were there.

How much action do you need to give them to get a Saturday night comped (roughly, or DM if you're willing to share but not publicly)? We're thinking about trying to rebuild our juice in AC at some point and the Borgata looks like they're being stingy for poker, so Ocean BJ may be the way we go.
