I took a trip from Miami to Panama city and back again a couple of months back. I tried to play in every card room in Florida which i almost did but I missed the one near Pensacola.

I stopped in the Ocala twice I have to tell you the 1/2 there was much softer than in any of the major casino's in either Miami or Tampa with maybe the exception of Magic city lol.

I think if I lived in Tampa I would make special trips to the Ocala !! (Make sure you always sit at the same table as that gay doctor! He insights more action than any man I have ever seen, I guess you either love him or hate him but for me he was a joy to play with and tilted the hell out of some people) Yeah so staying where you are is by far the most profitable line IMO !

I would by in full, Unless you feel like your gonna play scared. Hopefully you feel like you have a massive edge in the 1/2 game you would have to run pretty awful to bust through 10 buyins although obviously it can happen. I imagine the 1/1 to be virtually unbeatable amost however soft it is due to rake and structure I would steer clear of that.

Iirc, op, that game does exist in this room. I seem to remember something about a 10/25 deep PLO game. Am I right?

Players are allowed to reach over and flip over other plyrs cards b4 they make there decisions to call all ins at the 2-5 game there, very nice, and the floor doesn't give an intercourse.

I'm at UF for the time being and used to play at this room until I got sick of how terrible the room is. Its not worth going to. I now drive either an hour and half to one of the Jacksonville rooms or the 2 hours to Tampa every weekend to play instead of the 20 minutes to here.

This room is terrible; if you like places where everyone seems to be on meth or rooms that smell like death you might feel differently.

I was surprised to see this thread and will give a little review to hopefully save some of you from a trip here. I play mainly 2/5 and 5/10. The 5/10 is never running and the 2/5 is the same rotating group of regs that are bad and buy in for the min, they are allowed to do and act however they want and the floor and dealers always rule in their favor.

They used to run a higher PLO game on thursday (IIRC) every once in a while, it was too high for me so I can't comment on the play but it looked like a decent game.

As far as lower stakes go, they run a 1/1limit and a 1/1nl which look like a game full of rednecks/dirt bag players buying in for the min and hoping to hit one of the random promotions they run. There is also a 1/2 game which seems to be very soft, and a mix of rednecks, white trash, and college/Gainesville or Ocala locals, it is always very short also.

The tournys run every day and are very low stakes. I played in a tourny once and never again, it was a "deepstack" which was a 10k stack that started with 100/200 blinds and 20 min levels.

The games are super soft, but extremely short, and you have to put up with really annoying people and rules to win very little money. Like I said, I played 2/5 here pretty regularly my first semester at grad school, but couldn't deal with the garbage in the room. It has by far the trashiest players of any room I have played in. The dealers also cater hard to the regs. I have seen dealers rule one way for one player and in the exact same situation, on the same day, rule the complete opposite for a different non reg.

The only positives I can think of are the soft play, but the amount of money on the tables doesn't make up for it. The managers also seem to care and will try to get any game going that players want, the problem is that there just isn't enough of a player pool to ever have anything interesting or regularly good going on.

Avoid this room, especially if you are closer to somewhere else. It really isn't even worth the experience of seeing.

**If anyone reading has any info about home/private games in Gainesville. Pm me.

Just started playing at this poker room. In reference to some of the above posts from what I have seen so far: The dealers are extremely nice and very sociable unlike some dealers I have seen. The people that play here are less than preferable as a lot of them are POS that have little to no money. With that being said most of the regulars are really cool and there seems to be a constant stream of money coming in. I play 1/2 so I can't really comment on the 2/5 nlhe or 2/5 plo. For 1/2 the game is extremely soft. I've heard that the 2/5 plo game is insane and it's just a constant group of regulars. The plo game isn't capped and apparently is very deep ($2000+ for every player by the end of the night.) The 2/5 game is also normally pretty deep from what I have seen and heard and apparently gets crazy late at night as well ($500+ every pot.) As far as the tournaments go I only played one which was tonight and it was a $115+$15 add on. It was a 20 man and paid the top two places. We split for $1000 each. Tournament was very soft as well. To sum everything up. Very soft room with money to be made, although the majority of people that play here you don't want to associate with (had $100 stolen straight off my rack tonight.) Anyways if you want to make money it's a good place to play and if you want to have a good time it's also a great place to play due to the sociability of the dealers and the majority of the good regulars. The POS that I spoke of are the money flow and many of them are regulars as well with a constant flow of street money, so you can't really complain about them if you want a soft room.

this is not true, very very very very rarely a 5/10 game will go on the weekend but that's probably once a year. the 2/5 is buy in to match the big stack. PLO has been getting better there with a 2/5 game every day. there's a semi-private 2/5/10 PLO/PLO8 mixed game that goes on Wednesdays.

This must have been the crazy game that was going on really late on Wed still, but apparently the plo hi/lo game is always deep and pretty spewish.

I live in Ocala and play poker here a couple times a week usually. It's really not a dump as people say. I mean, what do you expect, chandeliers and caviar? I've played at the Seminole casino in tampa and yeah it looks nicer there, but a poker room is a poker room. The dealers are all nice and likable, and I've never felt like the place was bad or something. I hate how it's a 20 minutes drive, but you know, nearest room after that is 2 hours away...

This PLO 8 game used to be quite good, but it has now become very nitty. The game gets tighter and tighter every session.

Does anybody know when the Ocala poker room is going to move to obs? I heard it was last fall, but we are almost in April and I haven’t heard anything.
