Nice_rack_charlie and I were sitting at 6/12 one evening and decided that they should replace "play it smart" with "No Gamble No Future".

You are correct sir. Probably 7 or 8 months ago.

This is kind of the Twilight zone for live poker.

I've played 6-12 with you. I always kind of suspected the brown trout sleeps in your closet.

This sounds vaguely gay.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I think he meant "was" as in "I don't play there any more, so it's past tense for me."

But I heard (from another dealer) that she's actually leaving. So if any of you want to go stand outside her window playing "In Your Eyes" on a boom box, you better do it soon.

Anyone want to add stuff to a FAQ-ish Excel sheet about Oaks games? (Eventually I hope to expand this to the whole SF Bay Area)

No idea what this forum is about, but Oaks tilts me because of its maddening "spread limit" rule. It's just so pointless and irritating.

umm... I believe the lowball game is california lowball. A-5 with a joker. Single draw. self dealt. three blinds: button, small, and big. As for the stake, iono what they usually play, but it's always a black chip game. I've see 80 lowball on the board and i was told that number means all the blinds add up to 80. I assume that means the blinds are 20/20/40.

I didn't know about the no check-raise rule, but afiak california lowball is the only poker game where check-raise is not allowed.

Not 100% sure. I've never played it.

It's definitely player-dealt, single-limit, single draw A-5 with a joker. I've spent many hours in the 20-limit game, while it still had traction. Three blinds (button, middle, big) adding up to the fixed bet size; same bet size before and after the draw (unlike SoCal lowball, which has just small and big blind, and a double-size bet after the draw).

Many of the big 30-60 hold'em fish are also 80-limit and 120-limit lowball fish, and there are a few pros who follow them. I'm pretty much an ABC lowball player, good enough to beat the elderly gentlemen who played in the 20, but I've not put the effort into getting good enough to play in the game that currently goes down on Saturdays.

I've tried to get the Oaks management to spread triple-draw, but they have been profoundly resistant.

Self-dealt? I didn't think that was legal any more. Is there a drop? Do you guys tip each other?

I predict that 2012 will be the year of 2-7 TD. Maybe 8-16, and a 20-40 for the big boys? Next summer Alan, we can get Callipygian to get games started with us.

EDIT:

I ALSO predict that before 2012 gobbo runs hotter than the sun in the Oaks 30/60.
