Screw Great Canadian and their remote, highly overpriced, badly managed rooms with millions of silly rules.
This is good news heard it here first. Be so kind as to update this. For sure bump this in March with info

And cdn gaming is horrible. No poker at durham live is just the nut low for sure so that guy and his wife who got charged for scamming vaccines in Yukon are a piece of work

you only need an enhanced license to enter canada, everyone in the western new york area has one. Thats all I have and im ready to play at Casino NIagara.

I think there are a lot of frustrated poker players like myself from the Western New york area that will make the trip over. The only annoying thing is that Canada is requiring a negative covid test.

No more testing required as of April 1. Just in time for Niagara reopening!

Have you heard anything about the Seneca room? Is it toast? I find it odd they still have that placeholder website that hasn't been updated in years.

Any timeframe for poker on the Canadian side opening? I know the Seneca poker room is gone for good.

LOL

They finally reopened this past Friday at noon. I went on Saturday.

Called to put my name on the 1/3 list at 3:45pm. Got a seat at 8:45pm. Longest wait I've ever had by far anywhere anytime.

I believe there were 14-17 tables running, half were 1/3. at one point there were 180 players on the 1/3 wait list.

Tables were playing 10-handed, which is the same as two years ago. However, due to Covid, there was a pathetic plexiglass barrier around the dealer, which took up a lot of extra room. Seats 10 and 1 are absolutely brutal.

I am thrilled that poker is back at CN but holy **** that was a gong show.

Here's a post from the Toronto thread. I would expect huge waits if you're coming down for the weekend. I can't speak for weekdays though.

1) The waiting list for $1-$3 & $2-$5 is very very long on weekends. Call in an hour and a half before you want to play. If you don't call in and you sign up at the room, you will likely have to wait 2-3 hours at least. The wait list for $1-$3 was literally at 120 players at one point on Friday night.

2) I don't know who runs things at Casino Niagara but it's clear to me that poker is almost an afterthought there. They have literally no tables or dealers to meet the demand which is why the wait times are so long. They have tons of slot machines AROUND the poker room but literally little to no players to play on them. Seems like Poker is the main attraction, so treat it as such.

3) Games are omega soft. I'm not sure if its because I came during easter weekend and there are a ton of out of towners / Americans looking to splash around or maybe I was lucky but Friday night / Saturday night is an absolute **** show. I saw a guy punt a stack of $450 on $1/$3 table with 63o pre. Lots of crazies doing wild stuff like that so take note.

4) People will literally call you down with any piece of the board, so value bet the **** out of your good hands. Punish limpers, raise a good tight range, 4-5BB + 1bb per limper. Charge them to see flops and force them to call with shitty holdings.

5) If you can beat 5nl-10nl at stars, you will be astounded at how easy live is.. at least $1/$3.

6) Session fee is $7 every half hour for $1/$3. The rate is fairly reasonable given how insane rake is everywhere else in the province.

Stopped by Seneca Niagara Poker Room Saturday morning, and it STILL has a room full of tables. The doorway is blocked off with a temporary 'hasped' plywood door. Anyone heard anything? I almost drove to Cleveland from Buffalo for their month end tournament yesterday.

As I said above, to the best of my knowledge it is permanently closed. The employees were all paid out their accrued vacation and sick time and some were cross trained on pit games and brought back for that.

Not saying it can't change at some point, but they have no staff at the moment.

Issue is, is that they haven't cleaned out the room. When the original buffalo creek was put on hold, they liquidated EVERYTHING they had bought.

So, to leave all the inventory sitting there, doesn't match what the Senecas have done in the past.

I have no response to that - I haven't been in the building and don't know anything about it. I just know dealers and former dealers there. and heard secondhand what they were told. Take the info for what it's worth and do what you wish with it. I certainly can't vouch for it beyond that it's what I heard.

I don't think this means anything at all. I mean it has been Covid times, the market for used poker tables in this period is in the range of zero. Add to this the fact the casino was prob not working at full employment, it wouldn't surprise me at all if they just locked it up and said we'll deal with it later. Those are two reasons I could think off of the top of my head, I'm sure there are many other possible explanations.

Fwiw if you really want an answer, why not message them? Here's a few people, if you contact them all maybe someone will get you a proper reply.

Seneca Niagara is aiming at reopening this fall with a newly renovated more modern room. Negotiations are in place and the bad beat jackpots are still in place. I saw the email last night showed to me by a former dealer who was working at a different poker room.

I would take that with a grain of salt, but haven't lost hope

Do 1/3 games (or 2/5?) run regularly at Casino Niagara? Are they games with tourists visiting Niagara Falls and going to the casinos or are they mostly locals who frequent there?

1/3 & 2/5 games run regularly. There's often larger games as well.

As far as reg to casual ratio, I'd say 1:1, at least at the 1/3 games I play.

If you want tourists which would include Toronto fish you need to play weekends and holidays. If the rumored border loosening with no proof of vaccine happens expect US fish to slowly trickle in to the room.

Most regs from the Niagara area are bad anyway but they aren't idiotic bad like a drunken tourists. I haven't played on the Canadian side for years but drunken college students from the US used play in these games on weekends. This type of player will come back to the room(especially if Seneca doesn't reopen).

As an aside, I have heard rumors that they are planning to reopen the Seneca room, and have begun contacting dealers.
