Hoping the rumors that the poker room is moving to Buffalo are true. Would increase number of players and possibly make 2-5 tables runore often

Fall predictions for Delta are bad, there won't be poker anytime this year imo.

With Tioga Downs and Rivers now open Seneca is the only poker room in NYS that hasn't reopened.

Not only that, but they havent provided a single update since March 2020. Not a single response to anyone. Zero social media posts. Not even a BS cookie cutter response like "Check our website for future updates!". Just completely ignoring their customers.

There was a $50K BBJ. Did they just steal it? They originally shut down in the middle of one of their big tourny series and there are many people holding worthless $1K satellite tickets. Are they just straight up robbing people of a thousand dollars?

It was never a well run room but this is just insane.

I doubt they can straight up rob the players of BBJ money as NY State probably has monitoring of these pools and rules for allocating the funds. I know in horse racing if a pool is ending because the racing season is ending for a race track then on the final day of the meet the pool is distributed to the players with an easier way to win piece of the pool.

I have no clue how they can figure out how to give back money for a satellite ticket if the player lost his or her ticket.

It's been confirmed that Seneca is permanently closed. Guess we have to hope CN reopens at some point and that this BS at the borders ends.

If you're fully vaccinated the Canadian border is open for driving or walking across the border. The US side is open for Canadians as of November 9th.

Basically, there has not been a single hand of casino poker played in Ontario and Niagara Falls, US since 2020 spring and for the foreseeable future.

I know, but that doesn't mean it isn't coming back there. All other casinos offering poker in NY are now back up. My assumption would be Seneca is the exception as it depends partially on tourism, and the border has been closed. So not only are they missing Canadians (a smaller % of their revenue) but they're missing Americans on their way to or from Canada, a much bigger percentage. No-one actually goes to visit Niagara Falls NY, it's a shithole. They go through Niagara Falls NY to Canada.

So the guy said he knows it's not coming back for sure, I'd like to know where he got that from. Sounds like conjecture to me...

Anyhow, now that the border has opened back up I think MGM Detroit is starting to look like the place to go. 3.5 hour drive from Toronto, so maybe a weekend trip or something.

Has Seneca Niagara out something in the old poker room and does seem like something permanent. Did they put a sportsbook in there?

If that were the case....wouldn't they have liquidated the tables? Was there Thursday, and while the entrance was walled off.....tables were still set up in the room.

The link cited in this thread as the source for this, literally says "UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE," in the message.

Here's to hoping, as I drove from Lewiston to Turning Stone this weekend. I have no complaints on TS....except for the ride. I'll make the trip again for this weekends tourney...but probably not again until the WSOP Circuit in March.

Very cool, thanks. Would think they’re still considering opening the room back up. Otherwise they’d had put something else in that spot by now. My guess is they are open for the summer season.

I had heard from someone who used to work there that they called up all the folks who were previously on hold and paid them out all their accrued vacation and other stuff they were owed, and that the room was now closed permanently. They are offering to train (some) dealers on pit games instead.

Of course they could always change their minds, but that is what I heard.

This is great news for if/when Casino Niagara reopens their room. It was already a pretty much at capacity room on weekends, but this'll make it even busier than it was if some of those Americans start coming over more regularly. I wonder how many of them have passports...? That'd be my main concern, passport uptake in America is rather low.

Years ago many came because the Canadian currency was low, but then again you only needed a birth certificate to cross the border.

Any updates on any poker rooms in Ontario anywhere?

I'm shocked there is little to no information to be found on Casino Niagara.

I hope the BBJ of $136k has increased due to interest lol

Casino Niagara will reopen and retain their very reasonable session fee. Port Perry, Brantford, and Rama have introduced a $15 rake on all cash games. Even 300 max 1/3.

When you say reopen, you mean Winter 2022? Spring 2022?

Casino Niagara poker reopening April 1, no increase in session fees, no tournies for the foreseeable future. The date was stated as a
"target date", so may slide a little here or there, but that's the plan. Source is an email from the poker room manager.

Screw Great Canadian and their remote, highly overpriced, badly managed rooms with millions of silly rules.
