It’s bad when it jumps from 4+1 to 5+2, (especially the BBJ...not all of it goes to Jackpot). Say you win 20 pots in a session...it’s an extra $40...it adds up.

The $7 rake isn't great but the auto $3 on the flop is the killer. Especially considering the typical buying and pot sizes.

I've been playing Seneca Niagara while working in Buffalo the past ten days. Never seen crazier action from 1/2 regs. Pots are bloated and people rebuy often. Rake isn't as much an issue as variance.

Maybe due to the fall tournament series? Seems like mostly regs though.

I moved from Fallsview/Woodbine being my rooms to the Crown in Melbourne that has a 15$ 10% rake at 1/3. It adds up but it's beatable, trust me.

Haven’t played there during the Fall Tournament. Generally tables range from limping family pots (more so during mornings) to standard PF raising to $17. Reg tourney players who play cash are almost all LAG (some exceptions). Get the station or two who rebuy 4-5 or so times calling middle pair against TPTK or chasing draws. I’ve traveled for work and would say LA is crazier. San Juan too.

Now I've always loved complaining about mismanagement at the Niagara casinos in the past, so I felt it was only fair to post after a really positive experience there this week and give kudos.

The new Niagara Casino room is really good. Dealers were great, rake was only a $5 session fee for ALL games and changing the 1/2nl into 1/3nl made for more fun games.

They even changed the max buy-in for 2/5nl to $1000 which was nice. It always drove me nuts only buying in for $500 previously at Fallsview.

Niagara also did a major reno to the poker room and added a bar/sports area just outside of it which looks pretty cool. Its no longer the "dirty" Casino Niagara that I remember in the past.

Well done CN, nice improvements.

I can't give them any credit for this because what were there standards before? It seemed like they only improved the area because they knew they had to. It's like giving credit to your son with a near genius IQ for getting his GED...

Lol, the room is still far from perfect but it is just no where near the dump that it used to be.

Hopefully with some positive reinforcement they'll be motivated to change the room even further.

TBH, the sports bar outside the poker room is actually really well done.

My travels have me stopping in Niagara to play a half dozen times per year. Checked out the new digs at casino Niagara last week.

Overall like the new setup and had a fun session. The $5 per half hour time rake at first seemed like an awesome bargain. However by the end of my session it felt like they are charging too much. Without exception, every dealer I had was painfully slow. One kid had 5 miss-deals in the same down. One of which wouldn't have been a misdeal at all if I hadn't pointed out that first card off the deck exposed can't just become the first burn card.

Every dealer was exceptionally nice, but that doesn't make up for poor quality. I think if each dealer kept their own tips instead of pooling them, it might provide incentive to improve. I also visit rama in my travels and see the same thing with their dealers. Maybe this is an Ontario thing?

Apparently they were running some kind of food comp draw promotion while I was there, but they go out of their way to keep it a secret. The draw is done in silence with the winner being informed by supervisor taping him on the shoulder and so quietly giving him the good news. If the purpose of promotions is to get assess in seats, shouldn't they want to get value out of it by making it into a production?

In summary, new room is a step forward but still a long way to go.

Lol it's the worst promotion ever! A girl from promotions marches down from her office every 2 hours for the draw done by bravo but then they don't even announce the winner or tell you when the next draw is. It's so bad it's comical.

For WPT Fallsview will all the cashgames be at Niagara or will they temp bring back the old FV poker area?

A dealer told me that they would be at FV. I believe he was also saying the cash games will begin a week before the WPT events start.

Everything will be at FV downstairs in the ballroom where the tournaments are....all cash games and all tourneys will be in this room for the entire series. The new room at CN will be closed for that time.

Are they gonna add more tables in comparison to the past? When the 1k runs usually they use all the tables for day 1/b. Everyone would be pissed if cash games can’t run for a bit..

I would hope so but I bet they haven't even thought that out yet.

Any idea if the field is capped for the $2500 and if so, at how many runners?

Will registering right before start time potentially be a risk?

Thanks

I would assume it's capped at 600 as they seem to have 60 tables for the tournaments. It's had yet to sell out but it gets pretty close most years not sure if they will open alternate seats like they do in the $1100.

I actually inquired by phone at the main cage. I was told that one can purchase an entry in someone else’s name as long as the “purchaser” has the “player’s” Players Advantage Card number.

If you're looking to grind 2/5 don't bother. Huge reg fest. If you're looking to grind 1/3...I dunno how you can make a good living doing that. I think they are getting poker in Toronto soon so Niagara action might dry up anyways.

Casino Ajax will probably close when the Durham Live Casino in Pickering opens in 2019. With Great Canadian Gaming now in charge of many casinos, don't expect a poker room. GCG is converting the ten-table poker room in Great Blue Heron Casino to baccarat.
