If you're interesting in Casino Niagara there's a Days Inn on Clifton Hill, it's a bit cheaper but the casino is like a minute walk down the hill away. I'd recommend that.

Does the great blue heron casino fall under the scope of this thread? I'm looking for fixed limit holdem near mississauga. As far as I know heron is a slightly shorter drive than Niagara.
Edit never mind I found a thread dedicated to blue heron sorry to waste the post

I'm guessing neither Fallsview nor Casino Niagara have fixed-limit hold'em.

I travel freqently and stop at the falls 8 - 12 times per year. From my limited experience, nope. Casino Niagara only 1-2 and Fallsview 2-5 with occasional interest in 5-10 and rumour of the odd plo.

Brantford would have limit hold em and would be a shorter drive from Mississauga

Not much traffic in this thread so thought I'd write a trip report of my recent visit to the falls.

Played a couple of sessions at casino Niagara over the holidays. Same old amateur run room as my last time through town.

Dealers for the most part are friendly with lots of familiar banter with the locals. Unfortunately without question the slowest dealers as a group that I've every encountered. I listened to one of them talking with a local about how the powers that be never wanted poker, that the room doesn't make much profit and slots in the space would make more. I had trouble not commenting that they could easily increase revenue by 10% if the dealers could be as fast as the slowest dealers at a real professional room.

Experienced a first for me strange deal; I'm walking back to the table. Arrive at my middle position seat just as dealer pitches sb his second card. Dealer gets to me and gives me a card. She then gives everyone their second card, after the button she gives me a second card. WTF I've never seen that before. Folded my J,5. would have been interesting if she dealt a bad beat and they went to the cameras to confirm the hand was legit - it clearly wasn't.

After playing for an hour at a table, seat opens up directly on the left of only thinking player in the game. I seat change from UTG into cut off and since I moved away from button, posted. Dealer looks at me funny and tells me I didn't miss my blind so i don't have to post. Tried to disagree with her, but she insisted so I demurred.

Heads up On River I bet for thin value and older lady goes into a acting mode, grumbles a few times, intentionally shows player to her right her cards and then makes a giant raise. Had to be the nuts, so I fold but tell dealer I want to see her hand. Dealer says I have no right to see her hand because I folded. I point out that she showed player to her right, dealer still says no. But buddy on her right agreed with me and tells the table she had A,Q which rivered gut shot straight.

This place must hate dropping rake. Was about 11pm and every table was running, but no list and open spots at some. No table was below 7 handed. So they decided to break my 8 handed table. No one at the table wanted to move. About an hour later I was on a 9 handed table they decided to break as well. Apparently this is standard procedure for them, to break tables later in the evening as soon as there are enough empty seats scattered around the remaining tables to accommodate everyone. And i think they break tables in a certain order no matter which table is actually shortest. They try their best to keep all tables full.

The first table I was at that they forcefully broke, the dealer was stuck sitting there for 35 minutes until a boss could come and officially close the table. So they were paying dealer salary, but decided they didn't want that dealer to generate any income during that time.

What makes more rake for the casino, 8 tables with 7 or more players or 7 10 hand tables? Seems really stupid to me. Maybe there is something I'm not considering.

Player pool was very soft, lots of weak passive.

In general if you are looking for a social night out, this is an OK choice. If you are looking to play for profit you will probably be very frustrated.

Brantford's limit cash games have live dealers - http://www.olgpoker.com/wheretoplay/...cfm?CasinoID=1. I will probably play there in January for a NLHE Deep Stack tournament. The four Ontario resort casinos now allow headphones and electronics on the poker table, but not Brantford or GBH yet.

Both casinos can technically run limit, but neither has run them in years. I did see 2/4 limit a few years ago at Niagara and I have played 6/12 at Fallsview but that was 7 or more years ago.

If you want to play limit you have to go to Seneca which will have 2/4 limit on busy days and infrequently has 3/6 full kill limit on Fridays and other days.

Casino Niagara's poker room has been closed until Friday.
At Fallsview Casino, the $275 super satellite sales for WPT FPC has been stopped. The $125 and $235 single-table satellites have also been terminated.

The $245's with direct entry to the $1,100 have also been stopped.

Fallsview always had regular cash games running. Only nlh though. Expect 2-5 and above. Casino niagara hosts 1-2 and 2-5 NLH daily if you're looking for a different limit.

Since when does Casino run anything other than 1/2?

Crispix, my comment was regarding them hosting the WPT event. Wasn't sure if they had cash games going during that time or if the floor was strictly dedicated to the MTT.

For those who take advantage of the low C$ on the Canadian side, beware of the rip-off tourism fee that some businesses charge.

Niagara Falls Tourism chairman Wayne Thomson is stupidly claiming that businesses would call the police if consumers refuse to pay the VOLUNTARY fee.

I would say the currency exchange places are as bad as this bs fee. Many give rates below the bank. If any residents of Niagara Falls are posting in this thread do you know of exchange stores that have a good rate in Niagara Falls? Thanks.

My information is close to 10 years old but back in the day the cage at the Niagara casinos had great exchange rates. It was either at the true exchange rate if not better. Use to always make a point of hitting up the casino before going to Sundowner. Need those toonies to put on your forehead.

Hello all, if all goes to plan I should be making a trip to Buffalo and Nigara Falls (both sides) to degen it up for a couple days before a wedding later in the week in the Rochester/finger lakes area. Plan on going around the end of the month, probably on a Sunday evening and probably leaving Monday night or Tuesday morning.

Trying to figure out what's the best option for a $1/$2 NL player. It appears the the US side has the most games based off what I could see from the poker atlas site. It also appears that Fallsview only has $2/$5 NL and both Canadian options appear to rake more and appear more nitty with incompetent dealers. If anyone can confirm this or state otherwise I'd appreciate. Really any information would be appreciated.

I'm sure I can possibly figure out answers to my questions from revewing this thread but it dosen't seem up to date and would appreciate any information.

To return the favor I'm thinking of posting a related trip report for my exploits to the region. Plan on taking part in a number of the deadly sins. Would like to get in some poker, probably a bit of craps if $5 tables run at any of these places. Plan on taking part in some gluttony. Intend to try find the best beef on weck, hotdogs and possibly wings in the Buffalo/Niagara NY area. Also plan on hitting up some the Niagara strip clubs like a 19 years crossing over for the first time.

Since you'll be taking advantage of the high US dollar at Sundowner anyway, you may as well try 1/2 at Casino Niagara. Have fun.

You've pretty much got it figured out. Fallsview only runs 2/5. Niagara is the looser more spewy of the other two 1/2 wise but Seneca's a much more well run room and thus where I would go. There will be games at Seneca that are nitty at times but as long as you're willing to table select/not go at 10am you should be able to find a decent table.

FWIW I'd recommend Teds for hot dogs, Schwabl's for beef on weck and Anchor Bar for wings. Enjoy your trip!

Thanks I think I'll do a combination of Seneca, cross over hit up Niagara cash game, hit up cage stock up on toonies, head to Sundowner. Rinse and repeat.

Thanks on the food recommendations that was my plan for dogs and weck. Will probably do duffs over anchor as I've been to anchor a gazillion times.
