Thanks, does that RW always get games going or better off just going out to Foxwoods?

Foxwoods is a far better bet for having more games. I would bet there's also busses from Stamford, the Uber will be pricey

The Senate's version of the budget calls for the license fees to be $1 billion, and licenses to be awarded by December 1.

https://www.yogonet.com/internationa...o-for--1b-each

Doesn't mean any of that is what will actually happen, but it's a proposal currently in play.

And, not surprisingly, Empire City and Resorts World are probably in the lead.

I like it. They should get as much as they can, the casinos are going to be cash cows for decades to come.

My biggest hope, and I think this will happen, is that the casinos offer shuttles or easier ways to get there then simply taking the subway. I don't love the idea of coming back late at night with a couple grand on me and having to take the subway through Brownsville or the Bronx.

Actually, my biggest wish would be if they'd have a NYC ferry put in that serves JFK and Resorts World. That would be incredible, and perhaps the casino would fund a big chunk of it. I am a huge proponent of the NYC Ferries, they're so awesome, second best thing DeBlasio did.

Both casinos do currently offer shuttles. Yonkers got a little jitney that takes you there

Do you know where they originate? They need something from around Midtown in Manhattan

Yeah, I would imagine that they'll expand service once they become a full fledged casino, too.

The A train provides direct access for millions to RW Queens, including from Port Authority/Midtown. The ride is long, but I'd take that train from Midtown vs a shuttle fighting rush hour traffic. It's MGM Yonkers that'll have to step up their Midtown connection...

Yeah, it's not rush hour I'm worried about. It's a 4am train through Broadway Junction with 3k on me that I'm worried about

I agree with this statement. The A train travels through some rough areas of Brooklyn (Bedford Stuyvesant, Brownsville, East New York) and I wouldn’t feel comfortable carrying money late a night on the train. IYKYK.

As someone who took the MTA to get back to Penn Station & Jersey from late-night underground games....I get it. At least with a full-service casino, there will an option to get a box & keep the funds on-site until the sun comes out.

Cool but would you ever expect them to run a shuttle at 4am? And does a 4am shuttle really change that much for you? Wouldn't the branded RW shuttle kind of be a target when it gets to a deserted Times Sq? And unless you happen to live right next to the shuttle, you still have to take transit thereafter right? Or maybe you plan to Uber after the shuttle- in that case why not just uber from RW to get past whatever areas scare you. that would also obscure that you just came from a casino

I would probably drive or Uber if it was late, but it's an interesting question, I don't think 24/7 shuttles is the craziest thing that could happen

I think there are legitimate concerns about taking the subway late at night on the sole train route(the A train) that runs through rough neighborhoods to head to and from the casino. Especially when there is a noted uptick in subway crimes recently. A shuttle bus back to Manhattan would also likely be quicker than the hour long subway ride which would likely be running local at night.

Can anyone name a casino anywhere in the world that runs a 24/7 shuttle? Moreover, one that takes 90mins roundtrip? Wouldn't that cost them a ton of money to operate? Seems farfetched to me to expect that they might offer any kind of service like this outside of their peak hours. And especially since the A train offers such a sensible alternative. By 5am the train leaving RW Queens is filled with commuters heading into the city- not to mention clueless tourists with tons of luggage from JFK that make easier marks for crooks

I will say that I fully do expect to see more people riding the A train more than ever if this happens. Which means safety in numbers.

It's not like they need one leaving every hour or anything. I used to go to Casino du Montreal a lot when I was younger, and they'd have shuttles every hour or so into the city. It was probably a 30-40 minute trip or so. I've taken the shuttle from Chicago to the Horseshoe in Indiana nearby and that was about 45 minutes.

It also doesn't need to go to Times Square or anything. It could drop people off at Atlantic Terminal/Barclays Center, could drop people at Flushing Main Street, could drop people in LIC, etc.

Anyways, without one, I'd either Uber or take the A train. I would just think they'd want to make it easier to get there for everyone.

Yes please.

edit: and I agree NYC ferries are highly underrated part of the transit system.

For yonkers there’s one on 207th street. For queens I think 86th street got one, I used it once a loooooonnngggg time ago so don’t remember the details. I’m sure when the real casino comes into play they’ll add more travel options

FYI- RW Queens shuttles existed in the past, but haven't been running since covid. None served Midtown for what imo are pretty obvious reasons. Once they restore the Chinatown shuttles (Bensonhurst + Flushing, the latter I believe also stopped somewhere in Jamaica) the only other 2 routes that I think would make sense to add are direct shuttles to JFK & Laguardia. My gut tells me they would've done those also already pre-covid, if they could've, so I'll assume it's the Port Authority that won't allow for it.

No need to add a Barclays shuttle (this area is better served by the A train, who the hell would rather sit at a million red lights in Brooklyn?) and LIC really doesn't make much sense either, but for sure they will have a Flushing / Main Street option eventually. Just don't expect any of their shuttles to run after 10pm.

Casino du Montreal closes at 3am these days, so there is definitely no 24 hour shuttle there. The Chicago to Horseshoe shuttles never ran between 340-530am, and they are currently completely closed for covid. They were operated by chinatown junkets, not the casino directly. If you are scared of the A train, you should probably be scared of riding those chinatown junkets too haha.

And LOL guys- a ferry? RW Queens isn't even on the waterfront, so obviously that makes no sense...
