Three casinos all in Manhattan? Doubt it with two “casinos” already in existence along with a lot of empty space in said “casinos”

I'd love that, however, I think it's already a done deal that MGM Empire City and Resorts World will get the licenses.

Of course. I meant all the bids for the third and final license.

Manhattan need to win that bid for the third spot. Anywhere else wouldn’t make sense

The general assumption here seems to be that Manhattan *wants* a casino. I suspect that's going to take some convincing. Getting the state to grant a license to someone who wants to put a casino in Manhattan is probably the easy part.

Manhattan gets that license a casino will be built somewhere, most likely somewhere midtown between Columbus circle and 34th street

Let's go Empire City! Would love to have a 15 min drive to play. What's realistic timing? Never actually been to Empire City as i don't play slots, but do they have the floor space? or would they have to expand?

From what I remember they have at least one empty floor, I wanna say the 3rd. They probably kept it empty planning for this. And they’re probably gonna make a section for table games on the first. As for poker itself? I wanna say the second floor seems the most logically if they remove the gaming machines from there but who knows. The article posted last page hints at late 2022 but I think we gotta wait til early mid23

Agreed, Manhattan definitely does not want a casino. They will fight it tooth and nail. However, big money interests always win. This is NYC, afterall

Not to get too far ahead of myself but assuming we get big poker rooms for Empire City, Resorts World in Queens and let’s pretend a Manhattan casino, how many poker tables should we expect them to open with ? I assume these rooms will always be packed with at least 20-30 games daily as I’m sure there are a lot of poker players in NYC dying to play legally within a reasonable distance.

Queens might even have more, they have a lot of empty space, a lot

Maybe I'm being optimistic but I wouldn't be surprised if Resorts World in Queens has a room with 100 or more tables. Parx is 48, Borgata is 85, I have to imagine (hope) one of the NYC rooms is bigger than either

If NYC does get poker, those rooms will have to cut their offering by half. Who the *** would go there anymore?

Definitely a huge hit to their business and I'm of the opinion that NYC casinos is the beginning of the end of AC, but many disagree. The Philly area supports multiple casinos, maybe Parx does okay and keeps a lot of the Staten Island crowd. AC is still a destination of sorts, they still pull a solid Delaware and Maryland crowd even though there's closer offerings. Some in government and casino companies have even said they think the markets can support NYC casinos, AC casinos, North Jersey Casinos, Philly Casinos, and Upstate NY Casinos.....I think that's completely nuts and we're going to see many casinos die and AC change dramatically overall but hey that's what they think lol

I've only been twice since COVID but the room has been hopping both times, feels like they're doing ok?

Too much crime now in Manhattan for me to go. You are risking your life. I would imagine Resorts would be the play but hoping they build a casino in eastern Suffolk county.

Apologies if this was sarcasm and I missed it, but thinking the area surrounding Resorts is safer than Manhattan, specifically midtown Manhattan which is the most likely if they put one on the island, is a wild take of epic proportions lol

yes when I'm trying to build a casino I'm choosing the least populous area which is also a nightmare to reach from anywhere in the city, guess there's not enough traffic on Belt and LIE

at least we will be safe from Manhattan's warzone, my level 3 bulletproof vest is getting uncomfortable after a few hours at the table

If you feel safe walking the streets of NYC with a roll in your pocket (especially after dark) then you are welcome to do so. I will pass.

Ask the Rincon Tribe in California. Their Harrahs does huge numbers and their casino is in the middle of nowhere. As will the Shinnecocks when they build theirs. I was thinking Bayport/Yaphank area but many Island residents would go to that location rather than NYC. You are making the mistake that a NYC casino will be a destination when any casino in these areas will be all local. I bet a Nassau resident would chose a Suffolk casino over a manhattan one hands down. For even though the mileage would be more the traffic and crime would be much less and parking much better. Oh yea getting on a subway with a few grand in your pocket? LOLOLOL yea ok

He is saying the area around the Racetrack is a shithole, bro, not that it's less dangerous.

Oh wow, you're not trolling. You have no idea what's actually going on here if you think this is true.

Lol yea Manhattan is very “dangerous”
You’re way too scary for no reason dawg. What’s stopping you from depositing your winnings in a nearby bank if you’re so shaky? In Manhattan if you’re not looking for trouble you most likely will not find it
