The two properties that already exist presumably have an easier CAC/zoning stage ahead, but if all the applications have to complete that phase before any are considered, it doesn't actually help them. I'm not sure if there's anything in there about limiting the amount of time that can take, or if once the process moves that far they'll give it more shape.

The bidders who want to build from scratch presumably have wide range of difficulties ahead: the city may be more eager to move rezoning in some areas (Willets Point?) than others (Coney Island?); Caesars' plan to use an existing building is going to face a tough CAC; etc. and the RFA notes that the necessary processes at that stage are beyond the board's control.

They will surely be upgraded with the new license as being Video Lottery Terminals, they are not even real slot machines right now. They way VLTs & slots function are different, hence why they're allowed. Then again from what I know the VLTs are more profitable than slots so that may incentivize them to keep some or all if allowed in addition to your typical slots.

So 3 months to submit questions, a month to answer em then another 4 month time period to do this again? Yes this is going to take forever

No...a month from now they can submit questions. A month after they get the answers, they can submit more questions. A month after *those* answers, applications are due. So three months from now, plus whatever time the board takes to provide answers. Maybe by mid/late spring they'll have moved on to the community/zoning part.

Yea thanks, still will probably take a while after that, so obviously late 22-early 23 was a pipe dream. Maybe we can hope for fall2023/winter24?

You seem to constantly be looking to nail down a timeline. No one knows at this point. Just relax and let the process play out. You may be surprised, you may not be. Either way, it'll come when it comes

Eh outside of this forum I hardly think about it, I let the months pass by. But when I enter the venue section then yea I get a little impatient. Taking a bus or train 2 hours away and spending $50+ just to get to a card room is an annoyance I’ll be more than happy to do rarely if ever once we finally get poker In nyc

if you really think about it, the casinos in Yonkers and resorts world are almost guaranteed. There's no way the city is going to turn down those two when they would be ready to go in a month or two after approval. It's interesting to think about the 3rd casino tho. If you assume da Bronx and queens are already taken care of, that leaves Manhattan, Brooklyn and Staten Island left to be considered. ofc nothing is happening on Staten Island, but what about Manhattan where all the money is?prehaps the metro north or subway gets a stop at the casino but thats still a solid train ride. Mets Willet point already has an LIRR stop but it's too close to resorts world to really be getting a different crowd. Coney Island wouldn't be too poor of an attempt to service Brooklyn but coney island sucks, so it prob won't be chosen.so its really interesting to figure out where that 3rd casino is gonna be

Initially yes, but you could also use the logic that they already produce a ton of money with “slots” so three new spots that are full fledged casinos would produce even more money

"Applicants seeking to build a commercial casino is $500 million each."

“Minimum capital investment and license fee”. there’s no way anyone would pay $500 million for an application fee with no certainty of success.

Lol the application fee is a million, not 500 million
New York City Area Hype Discussion Quote

Ok so it starts at one million it but can go up if they arbitrarily decide to raise it, and the total license fee is $500MM

"if the New York State Gaming Commission (NYSGC) decides it requires more money to investigate the applicant. The document then explains the $500 million license fee and a “minimum capital investment” of $500 million. The latter refers to the investment in developing the property but excludes land costs."

That's how they get you.

"Soloviev Group has their eyes on a 6.7-acre site near the United Nations Headquarters that could host a large mixed-use complex with a Ferris wheel and a new museum."

"This week, Las Vegas Sands, the gambling and resort company, also announced plans to seek a casino license on the nearly 80-acre site of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Long Island."

Hudson's Bay Company not going to be in business in 5 years fwiw. The only reason they still exist is they have some very valuable properties.

Yeah, it seems pretty odd that they'd want to do something like this on their own. Do they even have a billion dollars, if they happened to win? Assuming they don't, and they don't come up with some development and gaming partners who do, their application has no shot. Maybe this is just fishing for someone interested in the space to save them.

If I had to bet on the third license it would be hard to go against Stephen Ross and Hudson Yards, but man I don’t like the noises the local Manhattan politicians are making. Hopefully that’s just them upping their prices to be bought off.
