The request for proposals has to be issued by sometime in January.

With the upstate licenses, proposals were due by about two months later, and the winners were announced about nine months after that. I haven't seen anything about a specific timeline on this batch beyond January.

I just saw on social media that Resorts World hudson valley is opening in two weeks in Newburgh just like that out of the blue...another RW?? If I've said it once I've said it a thousand times. NY is a pay to play state.

There's even a link to their "anti corruption" policy. How bout an anti corruption policy for the state?

Jay Z joins the SL Green Realty and Ceasar's Entertainment bid for a Times Sq casino, think he's enough weight to get them the win?

An hour away from the city? That would be the closest poker room if they get poker

Just video. It's reusing a department store space in a defunct mall.

Knowing how this state operates, I wouldn't be surprised at all if they end up being a full scale table games casino, even before the NYC casinos open while they drag out that process for as long as they can.

I find it interesting/funny how they're trying to pitch the Newburgh casino as becoming a "neighborhood watering hole" type of place. It's like when I consider there are many places in the country where the go to destination for locals is an Applebees or something similar. Just doesn't compute in my brain being from Brooklyn. Although I guess the fact that people will be dumping tons of money gambling is pretty similar to a local bar lol

If Newburgh got poker it would be the closest place by far. It wouldn’t really matter that they label it, even **** hole would be ok in my book lol

No, but it needs to either pass via voter referendum, or be made a bill by state legislature. Where as, for NYC, triggering the application process was done as a add on to the 2022 budget in the spring, so nothing else needs to happen but the process to work itself out.

I think eventually there definitely will be North Jersey casinos. Jersey is going to need to do it to bail out the casinos that they're in bed with already in AC.

It would have to be passed by voters to amend the state constitution. The last time there was a vote for North NJ casinos, it failed badly.

State Senate could also pass a law allowing new casinos.

While it did fail miserably last time when voted on, it was mostly because the opposition from Atlantic City itself. If you now have them lobbying for it, instead of against it, plus NYC casinos pulling revenue from the state, I think you have the right set of circumstances to get the voters to approve NNJ casinos

Las Vegas Sands Corporation, one of the biggest gambling and resort companies in the U.S., is looking to place a bid for a license to build a casino in Nassau County.

The company is considering several sites for a potential casino, but named the Nassau Hub specifically as a contender.

The Hub is a proposed business district built around the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale that would include offices, housing, entertainment and retail.

David Paterson, the former governor of New York, is the senior vice president of Las Vegas Sands.

If successful, Las Vegas Sands would hold one of three downstate casino licenses that the New York State Gaming Commission is issuing starting next month.

The commission has said that it doesn’t expect licenses to be issued until late 2023.

Wait they’re starting next month? Gonna take a year just to grant the licenses? That’s disgusting

I think it's likely to take that long at this point. There was some talk about not issuing all 3 licenses at the same time so maybe MGM and/or Resorts World get their license quicker but I'm not holding my breath.
