On Sundays you can park around the area. Weekdays too if you don’t care about tickets

I think it was 1997. Not recent, but not that long ago.

So out of the options on the table besides EC and RW, the Times Sq proposal has by far the most existing infrastructure already in place. And it’s known that the committee must favor options that have existing infrastructure over the ones that don’t, with all else being equal. (See details on how that criteria was lobbied for here: https://nypost.com/2022/10/16/hochul...t-parlors/amp/)

1515 Broadway is the address of the Times Sq Caesars proposal. The owner of the building has an anchor tenant (Viacom) who already has been on their way out for quite a while, those floors will be easily converted to hotel rooms while the existing lower levels are pretty massive and ideal for gaming space. There are even theaters there already they likely would keep about the same. This all gives them a huge leg up over the Hardrock Citi Field proposal which would require a whole new building from scratch.

Plus you can easily pre-game at Rum House, Dos Caminos or similar, and get Junior's.

I actually went to Yardhouse in Times Square this weekend after I got off the bus coming back from AC. Just as good as the other Yardhouses, and not super high prices because it's in Times Sq

Yardhouse has been great every time I’ve been.

The only question is car to midtown or train/subway…

Sometimes there actually is random street parking in the west 40s but you have to get lucky.

I avoid midtown like the plague but I would be forced to go if they put a caseeen.

Parking could get way easier. If they let a casino open in Midtown (Caesars Times Sq, maybe Wynn Hudson Yards) they'll probably finally start charging that ~$20 for congestion pricing every time you drive below the park.

The congestion pricing wouldn’t help more people go to a Times Square casino lol

You could be stuck $60-90 by the time you get there with fees, tolls, parking, and gas.

I guess train subway would be only way viable way to go for most small and medium stakes geinders

Just like most other places in the city it would depend what day you’re going and what time. And even then parking somewhere uptown or out of Manhattan and then taking an Uber or the subway to said casino is viable. Ppl just want that vip service for free, which ain’t gonna happen in Times Square

Times Square is a terrible location for anyone looking to grind for any real $ and doesn't already live in Manhattan.

Agree but sometimes more rake is better so the games will probably be great despite the rake

Well for the 1.8 million of us who do, it would work great!

The rake is the only thing I'd really be worried at in a Times Sq casino. If Encore in Boston did 10% $10 cap, would it really be that insane if a Times Sq casino came out with 10% $15 cap all the way up to 5/10? Is there any way games could be so soft that would still be the best option? There are juicy underground games with less rake than that lol.

My opinion, especially for people who live in this city is still yes. Now coming 2+ hours away via car might make it not the best option anymore. And the rake will probably depend on who gets the hypothetical Times Square license.

When I worked there we used to go to District Tap House (38th between 7th and 8th), not sure you even count that as TSQ any more but was a big fan of that place.

Idk if he can, but it doesn't sound like he intends to. Plus turning down 1.5B is probably not something he wants to do lol

MGM purchased Yonkers hoping but probably expecting to be one of the "awarded" licenses, but knowing this state I would think they're really a long shot. RW will be the winner, and probably one at the Mets stadium. That's my early call.

Which element of NYS doesn't jive with MGM?

It’s three licenses dawg, not two. The “locks” are yonkers and rw. The third one is up in the air
