When NYC gets poker, I'll never go back to Parx.
Parx is currently where I go, but without a car it is too much of a pain to go as often as I would like. Borgata doesn't sound like it wants my business anymore. Can't wait to see what opens up here.

Ah copy thanks. And also when the licenses do get granted and the casinos are open it will probably take some time before poker is added on. I can see it not being available right away

How do you get to parx without a car?

Surprisingly quickly and easily from Midtown, if you time the trains right. Take the NJ Transit Northeast Corridor train from Penn Station to Trenton, connect with the SEPTA there that's heading into Philly, get off at Cornwells Heights and then it's a short $10~ Uber to PARX

lmao so not true. Do you actually remember what the area was like when it was only the racetrack there? Way more crime per capita, and much lower property values (and I'm talking relative to other comparable neighborhoods, I know everything has blown up since)

Dude comparing legal books that pay taxes to illegal offshore operations is asinine. STFU so not relevant to this discussion about poker in NYC

Not at all true for Vegas and the "surrounding areas" for AC (think Absecon, Margate) are nice and have improved in quality of living over last 20 or so years.

Imagine wanting to live in a country where the government tells you how you may grow your business. Move to China, if that's really how you want to live.

Agreed almost 100%, but spend the extra $10-$12 and take the Uber from Trenton

Yeah I just Uber from Trenton. I tried SEPTA once and it is not worth it.

What is not good is the last train is at 1:10am. Next one is like at 4:45am. You have to give yourself enough time to get there. I wouldn’t recommend doing this for low stakes as it gets expensive, but going to AC is expensive too. Also, on the weekend there are no express trains to/from Trenton.

Either option is expensive. Cost to go to ac and back doubled since the start of the pandemic. Used to be $38 roundtrip now it’s almost $38 each way.

Kinda off topic but the Lyft from Trenton to parx almost $24, assuming it cost that much to return this trip like $80 and change

Yeah, it's like 40 each way.

That being said, train > uber > Parx is vastly superior to Port Authority bus > AC.

I would pay for the comfort every time, personally. I miss the train to AC. I wish there was a direct ferry. I'd pay hundreds for a RT ticket

Not got a chance to even try to play there yet, lists are absolutely insane, going to just give it a miss until I can get there early on a weekend day or something (or the lists calm down, which they likely will in the not too distant future).

Yea this trip too expensive. Lyft going back now $36. So it’s over $100 just to come out here for me. Gotta play 2-5 minimum and even then I don’t see myself coming here over AC. At least AC I get the free rooms food etc.

Legalizing gambling is a decent idea, but to do so for $ is absolutely stupid. You're taking the money that is already in these communities, siphoning off a big chunk to the casinos, and putting a minor % back in the form of tax revenue redistributed in the budget. The other chunk never comes back, because casinos are neither building in nor improving these communities beyond the building they operate in. Legalized sports betting is a good way to get 40% of the $ that already exists and redistribute it poorly. Legalized poker rooms don't belong in NYC, even though they would be great options. We're also extremely unlikely to get anything resembling a fair shake from their business practices. The legal books that popped up are skeleton versions of actual books as far as options, and their lines are consistently more expensive than offshore books since the outset. Look at Vegas and AC. The surrounding areas in these places are wasteland ghosttowns with increased crime. This legalization push is a bad idea from shortsighted government officials. It's the same as allowing franchises to pop up. They might do well, but you're eroding the quality of the city over time. If my neighborhood is filled with Popeye's and McDonald's and Walmart's and casinos, what is the difference between my city and a random town in the midwest. We're selling our own city to solve imaginary fiscal crises and it's a major oof to watch.
Cool story
The legal betting sites have given out money hand over fist for 3 years and it's finally drying up somewhat
I'll take them over the offshore sites any day

And while these casinos may end up making neighborhoods worse empire city and queens by jfk are definitely getting them

How much they care about poker remains tk be seen
