As a resident of Brooklyn, I would LOVE a poker room but would be extremely wary of playing there.
One of the benefits of playing in Vegas is that you can easily disappear into a gigantic crowd or just head straight back to your room under a lot of security.

Think about it. If you were a crook, why not just hang around near the main cage & look for people cashing out big $$$ & follow them?

There is NO WAY I'm getting on the subway late at night with wads of cash coming from the casino!
Maybe I'm just too scared....

I wish there was a service for people cashing out big $$$ driving them from a casino to their house. Like an app that you could install on your phone?
Feels like whoever invents that would make a shitton of money.

I’d be super pumped if I invented something like that.

By 5am the train leaving RW Queens is filled with commuters heading into the city- not to mention clueless tourists with tons of luggage from JFK that make easier marks for crooks
No but that's irrelevant. NYC is extremely unique in that so many people, even those with tons of money (especially in Manhattan) don't own cars. If it makes financial sense to them they'll do it.

You're right!
I haven't driven a car in 15+ years!

Right... it's gonna come down to whether or not there is a free shuttle. This free shuttle does take longer than the $2.75 subway ride most of the time. But that's what the decision to play here will hinge on, for those people you speak of, the ones with tons of money paying an avg of 4k a month for their Manhattan apartment

Just an opinion but the people with tons of money from Manhattan will either Uber or have their own car service. Don't think shuttle service will make or break the decision to get some action.

Everyone else will pretty much take the train/subway (similar to what they do already to go to RW Queens).

Exactly, the crime in NYC has gotten to a place we have never seen. These criminals will use the casino as a new way to commit crimes because of the money there. No thanks.

You could fit ten hundred dollar bills under your sock the bottom of your feet under each foot. If you win over $2000 and it's 12 either wait in casino till 6 get food and coffee and then take subway in the morning. No reason to be that scared imo.

Does anyone making these statements about the safety in nyc actually live here? It wouldn't be any different than any other casino imo.

People are already bringing in large amounts of money to those casinos even though they’re “fake” casinos

I think the main difference would be lots of people taking trains to/from the casino instead of driving

I know this is the brick and mortar forum, but as NY prepares to expand casinos and online sports betting, has there been any momentum to legalizing online poker in the state, a la NJ/PA?
