Going on a little poker road trip this coming week. I play 1-2 and 2-5 also a little plo.
Been crushing the NL 100 on ignition as well as the 6handed MTTs.

New Orleans is closer . never been. Cheap flight (100$). Vastly less tables.

Vegas I have been 4x this year Cheap flight(200$) but longer. I do have a couple nights room comps. Been there done that.

What would you do? How soft is the lower limits NL in N.O.?

Very soft, and multiple tables run 7 days a week, first table gets going around 10am usually. It's obviously not Vegas, but if you just want to check out a new place it is a good place to play for a couple of days. Nice set up right next to the sportsbook too. By evening, the 1/3 is pretty deep stacked and plays pretty loose.

IME, NOLA plays MUCH deeper than LV. LV 2/5 is smaller than evening/night 1/3 in NOLA.

NOLA also more fun IMO but higher variance than LV.

Also not far from NOLA (90 min drive) is Biloxi with Beau Rivage.

Generally neither has a bunch of PLO though I have seen a little more in NOLA recently. Once or twice a week, sizable PLO game at IP in Biloxi (right now per Bravo the only IP game going is a 25/50 PLO)

I second NOLA. Look, the glory days of New Orleans, such as they were, are over. The city is seriously disintegrating. However, the poker is usually good. Games are all "match the stack" and even 1-3 should get quite deep at night. Stacks of 2-5K are pretty common. This is mostly nonexistent in Vegas. The games at Harrah's will be pretty loose. Very, very hit or miss in Vegas. No chance in NOLA of being seated at a table with five hooded pro wannabe's at 1-3 or 2-5 sitting around and nitting it up (almost always with bad attitudes to go with it). NOLA games will be friendly. People will drink. People will have fun.

Observation from playing around the country--the further south you go, the better the games get. Texas, NOLA, Biloxi, Tunica, Florida, etc is where its at. Higher buyins and looser games.

Booked flight to NOLA. Actually got it round trip for 50$. I do enjoy playing deep stack .. get there early and work it up.

Will let you guys know how the action is. Staying 1/3 mile from Harrahs

There are some very good restaurants near where you are staying. Herbsaint has fantastic food, I recommend their duck confit. Brennan's has very good food and even better service, I was comped free caviar there. It's not really close to where you are staying, but Revel Cafe & Bar is the nuts for classic cocktails.
