Puckster, is that existing building going to be used? Or is that going to be torn down and a new place built from scratch?

Full renovation. It's a masonry and steel building. 2/3, or the poker/casino part is one giant existing room/shell. Easy renovation

Are you able to start renovations soon, or are you still dealing with permits?

Permits..... Engineering for permits. Clear path, need to run all the bases as part of the process. The work will be the easiest and fastest part of the project...

Quick question: Where does the state licensing situation stand at right now? I've heard many different sides of the story relating to When the licenses will be awarded and how many will be awarded. I've heard stories from one room to as many as three rooms in the Salem area and some have said the licenses have yet to be given out while others say thats not the case. Puck you are obviously in the know here so whats the real story? Thanks in advance. Looking forward to the new room

Since Puck is not forthcoming does anyone else have any info on how many poker licenses will be awarded in the Salem area? Have they already been awarded? If not how far along is the process? I'm not familiar with the NH Charity Room process but I would imagine that the license is the most important part of the venture which is why I ask. Any links to any news articles? Im sure at some point it becomes public record with some type of public hearing... although I'm not sure which is why I inquire. Puck: not trying to pry into your business venture or plans just trying to get some general info to see how far along things really are in NH and what the Salem area poker landscape will look like when the dust settles.

It's hard to imagine more than one poker room being viable in Salem. It's not a huge market in the first place, and in two years the Wynn opens 30 minutes away. I don't think it's a coincidence that Cheers is opening only after The Rock is shuuting down, even though it was such a dump that any decent room would have easily competed.

I would tend to agree but you have 2 rooms that are licensed less than a mile apart from each other (Seabrook and Hampton) in a smaller market than the general Salem area. Whether both rooms are successful or profitable isn't my question just wondering how the awarding of licenses is viewed and processed. Also I believe that there is poker on Hampton Beach (seasonal?) as well which would mean that there are 3 rooms in a small area that has less population than the Salem area. Are these rooms licensed by the state or does each individual town grant and oversee these charity licenses? If its town regulated that might explain why you have 2 rooms that are so close to each other but in separate towns. Do they care how many licenses they grant or is there a limit or cap to the number based upon population or viability? Do they care if they saturate the market or is their a thought process or formula used to determine how many rooms will be allowed to open and where these rooms will be?

I'm just guessing, based on past/present rooms in places like Manchester and Milford, anyone with enough bankroll to afford to lease the property and provide the gaming equipment, and withstand the withering background check, would be approved.

...and that the only reason Hampton Falls opened so close to Seabrook is because an interstate runs past it, they had thrived in that area already, and when your successful business loses its lease--well, you have to put all those tables somewhere.
