Somerville mayor appeals environmental permit approval.

Groundbreaking for Wynn casino in Everett put on hold indefinitely while appeal is pending.

Wow - indefinitely? I thought I heard on the morning news in the background it was a year, no? Terrible either way, but not surprising. Somerville will get paid, and things will move ahead....until another surrounding town gets emboldened into holding up the casino for ransom. Only in Mass!!

You'd think Mayor McCheese would get enough money off the boatload of parking tickets they hand out. Only thing worse than living in Somerville is working there.

I think Wynn may have had enough with paying off the mayors of towns outside of Everett. He may wait until Somerville's appeal is denied and then move ahead.

why do they tease this stuff? And you don't need a study to realize a casino 30-40 miles north of NYC and in the heart of fairfield county would be more profitable than in the ever popular hartford-to-springfield corridor. sadly will never ever happen b/c it makes too much sense

A casino in Fairfield county would be competing against Mohegan. They are trying to avoid that.

Taunton casino possibly opening as soon as 2017!? Article states it will have 40 poker tables which will be a breath of fresh air regarding TW's poker room. They may be jumping the gun as other plans are in motion for a casino in Brockton from a competing company for Area C license.

I like the approach at Taunton. Full speed ahead unless some judge tells them to stop.

When it rains it pours. So much facepalm:

Oh, and love the quote at the end:

"It's going to be exciting," he said. "It's the most prime piece of real estate on the East Coast."

Last hand of my night sitting in front of $300, wild player potting pre every hand and had just rebought for 300 and 2 others that were way over 1,000 repoting. I have AKJ 10 double suited. Pot pot pot pot 3 way all in. Flop Q 8 3 two diamonds, so i have nut flush and gutter for nut straight. Turn blank River A. My ace bested deep stack, guy that rebought beats me with 10 888 and flopped a set.

Twin Rivers has become the easiest to play at, 30 miles door to door. Foxwoods offered me no rooms or points so no point in going there. Booked every Wednesday and Thursday in Feb. Just got March so i'll try to book those.

Rock is alternative since the Game of the Future at Foxwoods is 2-5 plo, and I'm not nearly rolled for that, and that game can be wild too. But as I've said 1-2 plo at the Rock can become a 1-2-8-28 game with the right players.

There was a funny mother daughter team that one was getting felted every other hand. When the daughter got felted, she would wait to rebuy and rail her mother and tell her what to do in arabic, such a violation of one player per hand, and when confronted she would say they were talking about something else. On one hand she was screaming at her mother to table a winner, but for the most part her helping her mother was not much of an issue based on her own play.

Sometimes the rules are not quite followed based on I think people who are regulars or favored to the room. But that can happen in most rooms. In general the floor is ok, and the dealers in PLO are very very proficient.

MJ, have you played up there?
Occasionally players are giving advice while in a hand, but its usually those who are fairly clueless anyway. The better players are not colluding, and are following appropriate protocol.

A few weeks ago, the board came down AAx-A-A. It was checked to the river, and I lead out with 99xx. I get insta-called, and someone else folds JJxx. The insta-call shows her naked Kxxx thinking she has the nutz.

I would guess the room will stay open until new owners are ready to start construction on a new site.

I would expect that Hampton Falls would then get most of the business until Wynn opens.
Not sure if Hampton Falls has enough space to accommodate the extra potential business. I can see 20-40% of the players at the Rock heading to Hampton, with the rest just having or finding other options closer to them.

Played some PLO at the rock tonight. Game was half PLO half PLO8. Good action and pretty fun despite it getting slow sometimes with all the chops and quarters

Isn't the poker room in Manchester like 20 minutes right up the highway from the Rock? They could end up with a bunch of the Rock's business

Dealer at the Rock today said that Hampton Falls was mobbed presumably b/c of the high HHJ.

About six months ago at The Rock, one of the dealers was talking about a potential new poker room in Salem, NH, at a different site. I wonder if they were referring to your plans?

Puckster, are you planning on building a place from scratch? Or would you be buying/renting an existing place and turning that into a room? Any idea how many tables you'd be putting in? Would you serve food there?

This news really has me intrigued. I'm under 10 minutes away from Salem, NH, and would love to continue to have a place to play near there, even when the casino in Everett opens, but I'm tired of The Rock because it's such a dump.

You'd also likely get a good number of folks who, like me, live in Massachusetts and are roughly equidistant from Salem, Nashua and Twin River. It would be a huge lure to be able to get to a NH room via the much less brutal route 3.
