Just moved to MA. Hard to imagine I now live 30 minutes from a legit boom boom room for the 1st time in my life. Looks like I'll be brushing up on basic strategy.

Debating heading there vs. Mohegan/Foxwoods this Saturday.
Head for which ever one is closer with and edge to FW and then Mohegan. Rock is much closer for me, but I was turned off by the condition of the place and lack of professionalism overall my last time there.

Lol are there still people in poker who don't realize bad players and terribly run rooms go hand in hand.

And LOL at the guy who thinks changing the red chip out will eliminate the "Is that a straddle?" questions, when in fact ANNOUNCING the straddle AND answering the question the first time it's asked will do nothing to stop the second guy from asking. I think you could put tape the word STRADDLE over a Missed Blind button, post it next to the straddle, and still be asked this question at least twice per hand.

But the games sound like 1/2 at Foxwoods 5+ years ago..

aka Juicy as long you can ignore some of the other stuff.

People with knowledge on the matter say that the worst scenario for the gambling industry in Massachusetts includes Wynn walking out of the deal, MGM changing its Springfield project and Southeastern Massachusetts not being awarded a license.

These games are literally like taking a time machine back to 10 years ago. I know it won't last forever but this is amazing.

Still "Thursday" as of Monday. The $5 chips will be grey, to avoid confusion with the $2 chips.
Please tell me they're not going to have $2 chips in the NL game. It makes no sense. In fact, they don't need them at all. The 2-4 limit should play with $1 chips.

Someone needs to straight up ask the manager at the rock about PLO. Just ask him what would it take to get a PLO game going here.

I'm going to be up in New Hampshire on Saturday morning, free to play poker the entire rest of the day.

I was thinking of hitting up the two Hampton area poker rooms (Seacoast and The Poker Room Hampton Falls) as well as Rockingham Park. Seems like those are 3 biggest ones up there, without having to trek way west to Milford at least.

Anyways, I was wondering, will all those rooms have decent games running in the morning / early afternoon, or do they all only pick up business at night?

Are they all 24 hours like the CT casinos?

I can't speak to when the games get going, but I've posted links to the rooms and their Sat hours below. None are open 24/7.

Excellent, thank you for that!

Maybe the FAQ in the main post could get each poker room's operating hours added? And a link to their official websites?

Been so tied up with my school final I still haven't been over to Rockingham. Do they still have cops doing details there?

Try Thursday night at The Rock. The new chips are in and the management will run PLO if people want to play.

I know there are people who are so stupid they will ask anyway, but I would think that a competent dealer would realize that the game is slowing down and doing something about it. Changing out the red chip is just one potential solution. He could also tap the table in front of the active player and say "Four to call". Or just repeat every three seconds "straddle is on" until someone raises.

My point is, that dealers won't even THINK to do the easiest things. That's what happens when tipping is automatic.
Respectfully, you don't know what you're talking about. A dealer who repeats the same thing every three seconds will quickly be tuned out by the players. And the poor man has other things to do, like taking take, communicating with the floor, etc, he's not always going to have time to point like a weather vane at whose turn it is.

In my experience at Rockingham the problem actually IS the dealers failing to announce a straddle. Two or three players will frequently put in a $2 limp before someone alerts the dealer that the straddle was on. I don't think the dealers are bad in general but they are bad about this.

I believe Brockton is the only remaining bidder. Remember that the Commission is not obliged to issue a license in any given region, so don't count on it. I really thing they want to see what shakes out with the tribes angling for a casino in the area.
