If I were a member of a group opposed to gambling, in Mass., I'd file suit questioning the three region division of the state. That would keep anything being done for a long time......
On what grounds would your suit question the 3 regions? This is how the legislature wrote the bill, it's now the law, there's nothing inherently unconstitutional in it, so how would you challenge it? If it were this easy, it would already have happened. Good luck on this one.
Suffolk is most likely to get the eastern zone license because it's the more logical choice in terms of location (proximity to Boston vs. Everett or Milford), because it already exists as a site, and also because the law was basically written by DeLeo and Menino with Suffolk and its employees in mind. Menino's coming retirement takes away some of Suffolk's edge, and Steve Wynn is a formidable contender in anything, so I think the race is more open than it originally appeared.
I think 1st Mass casino(s) will open no later than 2016, possibly 2015. The state needs the $ too badly to allow this to drag beyond the Gaming Commission's already snail-like pace...

I think he's saying the purpose of the lawsuit wouldn't be to win (though would be nice for them of course), but to delay. And with the way things work in MA, the delay would be considerable.

Possibly, but probably not (IMO).
Anyone can sue anyone for anything, but you have to have at least some theory to bring a lawsuit, or else it will get thrown out pretty fast.
Stranger things have happened, but with the amount of $ at stake here for both the state and the casinos ($20M per month estimated for the state), they wouldn't spare the legal expense, and I don't think much delay would be countenanced by the court for a suit like this.
Anyway, I was just curious as to the poster's basis for his hypothetical suit regarding the three regions.

Millenium unveils new, bigger plans for property (300 room hotel and 1500-seat showroom now part of the package, turning the $450M project into a $600M deal). State senator tells the crowd the head count in committee on the bill is 20 for, 20 against, 5 undecided, with some of the nays coming from a few of the reps from Salem.

Footage of the town hall meeting here

http://new.livestream.com/accounts/2...events/2089329

Haven't watched it yet but it was posted on my Facebook feed. How any town selectmen can vote against this when the town was in favor by a 4-1 margin is really sick.

90% of Americans want universal background checks for gun buyers.

90% of Republicans voted AGAINST it.

Don't be shocked if the state reps in the NH house show similar disdain for their constituents.

Here's an irrefutable stat: House Committee votes 23-22 to recommend killing the NH casino bill. Bill still goes to a vote on the floor in the next week or two, and the proponents are offering every concession they can think of to win a vote or two to get this thing through, but I'll be shocked if it lives through this setback.

I RUN SO BAD!

(Red Sox are coming to town this weekend. Three game series, neither Lester nor Buccholz scheduled to start any of them. I RUN SO BAD!)

Yeah, they pushed him back a day. Then it rained all day here, first time in forever, with rain forecast throughout the weekend...but it stopped a few hours before gametime, and stayed dry throughout. Great game, Bucc was awesome (even the 2-run dinger he gave up wasn't that bad a pitch).

SB 152 goes to the floor of the NH House on Wednesday. They'll debate amendments and put it to a vote. There's no headcount, like on The West Wing, so nobody knows how this is going to go. One state rep predicts defeat with a 60+ vote margin, while another thinks it will pass by 20+. Others call it a toss up.

The initiated can find a traveling 1/2 game a little south of Boston that is legit and not an underground game or anything like that. Saw 10 1/2 tables going yesterday, but that was a bigger-than-usual draw. Most every night of the week, if not every. Usually plays big too. Its out there.

Really anxious to see what happens in Concord,NH on Wednesday. Though like in Washington I guess we need to expect the House Republicans to block it. I was just reading an article someplace via a google search that stated the Casino goes against the NHGOP platform that was voted on earlier.
I went to Mohegan 4 times last week. Thankfully all the miles are going on my friends car haha. Still that ride home blows.

This is what politics has become. Conservative media has so demonized the left, that ANYTHING proposed by the left has to be a bad idea. It wouldn't surprise me if the main reason why the GOP would oppose the casino is because the Dem governor is pushing it, and the best way to get her out of office is to thwart everything she tries to do, no matter what.

Let's see...we have a ghost town of empty storefronts on 28, a state liquor store, several tatoo parlors, gun shop and prostitution at the local motel...yup, thanks for saving our quality of life! Increase in property taxes should just about top it off.

I'm curious if any members of the NH house were in communication with local leaders in towns around Foxwoods or MS. If you listen to most leaders there they will say that the 2 casinos have done more harm then good when it comes to the economy of those towns.

It would have been much closer, and maybe even passed, if this particular bill had been a better bill.

It is clear that this bill would have been a positive thing for Rockingham Park and the Town of Salem. And while the potential future tax revenue was quite inflated by proponents, IMHO, the $80 million was real, and it certainly would have added to future revenue overall.

But the above strengths were also its weaknesses. There was little or nothing in this bill for all the other NH businesses trying to lure tourist and other entertainment dollars. And those interests lobbied hard against this bill. And it is also my belief that those interests were what swayed this vote so strongly.

If we are lucky this vote may lead to a better bill being introduced and passed next session. If we are unlucky this will be seen as a major setback to expanded gambling and poker in NH.

Hi Guys,

I've had a Foxwoods semi-regular recently scam me for about $5k. I sent him my part of a transaction (can easily provide proof for) and he then cut all ties.

He lives in NYC and frequents FW (and big NYC games). He's a high roller, plays poker (a lot of PLO) and side games.

I was told I can't post his name in this thread but if anyone might know him or has any idea how to help out, I would appreciate if they could drop me a PM.
If it leads to recovering any money I will pay a decent %. FWIW I own a large online stable and many reputable members on the forum will vouch for me.

Thanks.
