Most people will still visit their closest casino. Of course most will venture a trip to a new venue, but why make a 2 hour drive if you have a casino 20 minutes away ?

I'm 15 miles from Encore but I'll still visit Chasers and Boston Billiards. Also,

I just got 2 free tickets to a Mohegan concert in July with a free room offer from Foxwoods on that night. So, I'll still hit those locations when it makes sense.

So, yes, Encore will put a dent in business at Ct casinos but I think they'll be fine in the long run.

You literally just described why it will hurt Foxwoods and Mohegan. Now, that I (a Boston resident), along with 700,000 other people, have a casino 20 minutes from me, I no longer have to drive to CT.

If you want your clientele to remain retirees going down for four free nights, then yea, they're not doomed.

But the whales the casinos feast on, mostly don't live in Southeastern CT.

Eh, in terms of poker revenue, they have already taken a massive hit over the last 2 years, and Encore will be the biggest hit yet.

Luckily for Foxwoods they still have the WSOP Circut and the FPC and even those deep stack series that will still bring in players regardless.

And if they lose any of that tournament hype tho, ya stick a fork in um.

RIP Foxwoods Dungeon. I made my bones in that dirty ol smelly oversized room. Was poker heaven back in the day. I'll miss you.

So yesterday I responded to you that my husband and I have a website which contains most of the information that you are asking about. Today it looks like it was deleted. Not entirely sure why, as I was trying to supply the information that you're looking for.

If you search "Map of US Poker Rooms" on Google, you'll likely find us. We have reviewed all of the New England poker rooms and have a summary article of what games are featured where. We are currently working on a table similar to the one you suggest and it should be up in a couple of weeks.

I'm pretty sure it was deleted because it's to drive traffic to another site. You probably had good intentions but the nature of the beast here doesn't allow it.

Yup, this. I clicked on the link and as soon as I saw an ad banner I said nope. This isn't moderator discretion either, that policy comes from the admins.

Fair enough. Apologies. Was just trying to provide the info.

Poker Atlas only tells you what is going on right now. We've been trying to gather data over time (a couple of months) so that if you know you want to play next Friday you can get an idea of which rooms have what games going and how many players you're likely to find (both for tournaments and cash).

It's a big task. We're starting with New England because that's where we live and it helps us with our own planning. To broaden this out to the whole country (which we eventually want to do), we're going to have to get into scraping, which is a whole other beast.

Again, apologies for breaking the rules.

How's the action been at Chasers since Encore opened?

Chasers has only 7 tables going right now. That's less than half of what they usually have on a Thursday. Waits lists are small too.

There were only a few tables running yesterday, but I chalked that up to Wednesday being a no-promo day. Guess Encore is having an impact here too

Yesterday they only had two or three tables going. Little to no wait lists then either.

Expect a thinning of the herd among the NH rooms in the coming months. The "Encore effect" is here and it is real.

I'm guessing the first change you will see is the promos getting smaller/less aggressive with them raking less jackpot drops due to declining business... When this happens you will see even more business migrate to Everett with the reduced promos. NH poker is heading for big changes that will not be for the best.

Amazes me that Seabrook was bought out. What were the new owners thinking when they targeted it?

Probably that when the inevitable casino legislation passes in NH, they'll be in a good spot to take advantage of it. They probably got it for a song and the property taxes are low in Seabrook, so they can afford to hold on for a while.

Chasers has been hugely impacted.......their once-great promo days have seen way less of a crowd and they struggle to get any 2-5 going.... maybe they could try to hold some tournaments.

I know a fair number of people think their decline in numbers is temporary and they will bounce back, but I’m not sure.

Given that Encore is open 24/7, runs deeper games, and runs higher stakes games, that’s going to be really difficult for the NH rooms to compete with. And Encore hasn’t even started running promos or tournaments yet.

I still think Chasers will get some 1-2 action, especially from people who live close by in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

But their days of heavy 2-5, 5-10 and PLO action may not be coming back.

Agreed on all of this. They never got a 2/5 or a PLO going yesterday. Max I saw was seven 1/2's and at 9pm it was down to 4 games with no lists for anything else. It's future seems to be that of a local 1/2 room.

New Hampshire passed a bill two weeks ago to legalize sports betting which the Governor supports. It will allow for 10 brick and mortar sites as well as online. This has to be a huge part of Eureka's plan moving forward as they are positioned to have the largest B&M footprint in the state.

Will NH sports betting be capped to $10 and a Max payout of winnings?

Decided to make a minimum bet at the Sports Book at Twin River, because, just because. I was told that the minimum bet was $2. I am not a big sports bettor, at least, not since I managed to lose 12 consecutive bets in a row, more or less. I was too embarrassed to ask for a $2 wager, so I kicked it up a notch to $10.
Collected $18:50 and decided to end my revisit to sports betting on a “winning” note.
No idea of the max bet allowed and don’t want to know.😎

reading the bill is more painful than watching grass grow

BUT
IV. Wager limits for daily, weekly, and monthly amounts consistent with the best practices

is all that is written right now
projected 2021 handle $225,000,000

will fall under lottery commission umbrella
so doubt limit will be anything most of us need to worry about

William Hill books doesn't post "limits" however you will be watched if it is suspected you're a professional or a runner for one. I've heard of an $80k NBA halftime wager pushed through the window at Twin River by a whale this winter while also have seen Tweets with video showing a $1k wager college basketball wager failing to get approved while it being offered up at a cap $200 from a pro's runner.

They have the data/knowledge to show which side the sharps are on and will likely take anything from a punter while protecting themselves on the other end. Bookmaking is far different than is was decades and even years ago. There is quite a bit of information out there if you want to Google the name Gadoon "Spanky" Kyrollos, a renowned sports programmer. Here is a piece from The Ringer that may interest you.
