Visited the mgm poker room today... nice but rather small. There are a couple of high limit tables in a screen off area in one corner. Chairs look nice with rollerball feet. I did notice that there is no bet line on the felt, so any forward motion is considered a bet. Also if there is no raise in a hand, then there is no rake. The rake for the 1-2 was 4-1 which seems normal.

What do u mean if there is no raise on a hand there’s no rake?

So if everyone limps in on a 2/5 game, there’s $50 in the pot, they won’t take rake? seems impossible

I thought the rake was $5 max $1 for the promo.
When you say 4-1 do you mean $4 max?

That must be it. I can’t imagine the other scenario. No one would ever raise!

Yes, and they have a nice variety. They also bring you the entire bottle of beer and have real red bull, both regular and sugar free. Sodas and coffee and tea are self serve.

This is what one of the dealers told me, if no raise over the the big blind, then no rake is taken. I world imagine that it does not happen too often. Did not actually see it happen at a table as I did not play.

I feel like that dealer will be receiving a "coaching" session in the near future.

I was in a hand yesterday where one limper and the blinds saw the flop, and they did take $1 in rake. There may have been some variation with different dealers, I didn't pay close enough attention to say for sure.

Now that Labor Day has come and gone, will Chasers revert to noon opening times on weekends, or is the 11AM time going to stick?

did i see yesterday 3 PLO games going alongside 3 2/5 Games at Chasers. is the future here? Beyond excited to see the shift and I really think the Wynn is going to PLO capital of the east coast.

shot out to Silky ofcourse. feel like he put in lots of the groundwork here.

No one would be happier than Silky to know how big PLO is becoming here in NE.

I've seen 6 PLO out of 16 tables at Chasers before and a list!!

2-3 Tables is more the norm even in slower days.

Yah I remember years ago driving down to the Woods with him and I'd hop into NL games as he'd walk around trying to recruit for 1/2 PLO. I'd love to see the PLO area at the Wynn be hte Silky Corner.

And I can't wait to put together a little bankroll and make my run soon. NL cash had just become too much for me to care. Just wait til we have legal online action in MA. Poker boom 2.0 coming soon.

MGM Springfield

Nice casino, definitely smaller than what we get used to, with Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun as examples.

Poker Room has 23 tables. 2 tables are set in a side room, for bigger games. It was very odd that 2/5 NLHE (1K max) was in there with 5/10 NLHE (500-uncapped buy-in). The side room is nice. Has it's own door to side patio for smokers. Door locks so you need to have someone let you back in. The main room has 21 other tables. Plenty of room between tables, comfy chairs. USB chargers at the table. No cup holders built in the rail. You get the silver slide in type or play cart wars. 2 self service soda/non alcoholic machines in main room.

2/2 PLO only 1 game was playing. Even though 1K max, most bought in light. The action was lacking at my table in both games.

It is still new and eventually they will workout the kinks but as of now other places have more action.

Just sharing some insight, it is still worth checking it out

Legal online action in MA? Do you know of any movement on that front?

Besides, it takes MA forever to accomplish anything. I'm still waiting for a recreational pot shop here.

It sounds like you attended on a non-Fri/Sat, maybe a Tues or Wed? Weekend action is far different than you described.

So why don't they get 2/5 PLO games?

State limit on buy-ins at cash games is $500, which is the max at the 1-3 PLO and it is so loose there's usually $8-10k on the table after a couple hours. What difference would 2-5 blinds make?

Sure. Nothing official but I follow some trends. First the legal sports betting will make it a bit easier towwards gambling as well as the needed online lottery sales. You are irght it will take time in MA. I also read Boyd Interactive or something has a deal in 12 states with MGM for online platforms. They will have the framework built and ready to go in other states with a combined player pool.

Big business in our state will want to push this. Ofcourse the players didn't matter when Tilt/Stars were getting banned cause they werne't big business. When the Wynn?MGM etc know they will have the whole market due to regulation it will flow. I'm thinking in my lifetime so in 5-10 years it'll be an awesome marketplace and I imagine quickly combined with other states for some great online action complimenting Live games all over.

Wynn should be pretty fun. Lot of harvard nerds mixed with working class Bostonians.

BTW I got an email about dealing school for wynn cause I signed up for their job network. So they are hiring dealers.
