Two nights ago at Chaser's I saw a floor ruling a a 1/2 table that high hands must win the hand to be eligible. The board was AAAxx and one player had a pocket pair while the other had an Ace with a kicker that didn't play. Is that the official Chaser's policy or was this a floor mistake?

I don't know Chasers specific policy however it is standard in every room I've played that the HH must be the winning hand in the pot to qualify.

I've seen it awarded to the losing hand twice at Foxwoods.

I must not understand high hand promos. How does the 2nd highest hand win high hand?

Pot can be won by hand which is higher but not qualified for HH (quads with non-playing kicker or by 1-card straight flush) vs. qualifying loser.

Say the board is KKAAA and I'm holding KK. I lose to someone holding AJ, quads over quads. His Ax wins the hand but doesn't qualify for the HH because both of his cards don't play, but my KKKK would qualify (and have a good shot at winning) the HH, so long as there isn't an explicit rule that the HH must also win the hand.

I would also very likely qualify for a bad beat if there was one in the room where this hand occurred.

Haven't seen a bad beat that didn't require both cards to play for both players, also they always require both players to have a pocket pair for quads to be eligible (winning or losing). Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

I know it was mentioned in a few posts ITT a couple of weeks ago, but overheard at Chasers on Saturday from room personnel is that they will in fact be opening at 11AM on weekends throughout the month of August. Beyond that though is TBD.

Note that there was no official announcement made to the room, so probably best to watch for something on their web-site or social media to confirm, or Chip can chime in here.

On an unrelated note, also overheard was my bankroll getting vacuumed up when I ran my J-J into AhKh at $2/$5 against a player who had spewed close to $1000 in the past hour on a board that flopped Ax-Qh-Jh, turn 10h and river Kx. Of course I make the crying all in call on the river, and he wins the pot plus a $300 bonus. If you're reading this, NH sir - they don't call me the bad luck buster for nothing.

Right, but he chimed in several weeks ago and apparently this had yet to go into effect. I went on Saturday with the intent to arrive at 11:30 and take advantage, but ran into traffic and didn't get there until 11:55 only to find out that the 11AM thing wasn't in place as yet. Hence I mentioned it.

Read the comments again, it clearly says between chip and I, that it starts in August.

It's a bizarre and slightly cruel rule, but yes, I've seen this play out.

I was at planet hollywood in vegas last month and watched quad jacks lose to royal flush (with only one card in hand) and no one gets paid any bonus.

3 hands later, I get quad jacks and get the $50 HH bonus. It was only $50, but still, seemed dumb.

If there is no bad beat, they should give the guy his stupid $50 for quads IMO.

I checked the app for Chasers at 5 PM tonite. All table full and a wait list of 42 players for 1-2NL.

I was at Hampton last night and their Wednesday night $50/$50/$50 tournament had 98 players. First place was $3280. On a wednesday night.

It was 3280 until the players decided to pay half the prize pool out to 3 tables

Wouldn't surprise me at Hampton, but I got knocked out 18th, so I know they didn't pay THREE tables

Yeah, $50 get you 15k - you can rebuy up to twice at any point or if you have a rebuy available at the break, you can add-on for 20k instead. Its a fun fast tournament.

That number is pretty amazing to fathom. I mean maybe on a weekend with lousy weather or in winter, or a couple of hours later; but at 5pm sharp on a Thursday?! Just wow.

Too bad someone else didn't think to open another room where folks from that area could play, making it nice enough to feel like......Borgata North.....

People love their high hand giveaway on Thursdays. Unfortunately, I work weekdays and have yet to have a chance to check it out on Thursdays.
