Russell Westbrook always makes it a point to stop in our room (midwest) when he's in town. Very quiet guy, believe it or not. Headphones on, just wants to play cards and be left alone (exactly how I would feel in his shoes).
Adrian Peterson used to be a regular here, till his head coach ordered him to stop....but that coach got fired, and he would return from time to time. I never got to deal to him, because I run so bad--he'd tip $20-30 for a SMALL pot. He threw those $10 chips we use in our biggest game like they were change he found in his couch cushions.
My buddy was working the floor one night, during the offseason after AP's Rookie Of The Year season. AP was ready to leave, and he asked my buddy, "Can you walk me to my car? If I try to walk out of here by myself, I'll get mobbed, and never make it to the door. If I'm talking with someone as I walk, it's much easier." My fanboi buddy was thrilled. The plan worked like a charm, and they made it through the gauntlet.
When they arrived at his car, AP asked him, "Wanna see something cool?" He popped his trunk, and showed my friend his brand new Rookie of the Year trophy.
"You ride around with that thing in your trunk?"
Yup.
"Why???"
"For moments like this. Pretty cool, right?"
"ABSOLUTELY!!!!"
My friend now possesses a photograph of himself standing next to the NFL ROY trophy in the trunk of a car.
