I don't know if anyone's warned you, JG: No one in New England has any idea how to run a cardroom--but even worse, you can't tell them that, because they think they know everything. Expect to hear a lot of, "That's dumb, why do we have to do it that way? That's not how they do it at Foxwoods!"
(Really, you guys are in for a treat, you couldn't pick a better man for the job.)
Much appreciated! Alas, I will not be at the Springfield property. The Poker Room Manager will be Adam Nash. Adam was a shift manager at Beau Rivage when I was there. Adam has a great mind for the game, and is also a winning cash game and tournament player (also a cage fighter, so tread lightly...)
I was there in early March assisting Adam in getting things rolling, and will also be there for the Grand opening of the room. After opening the property here at National Harbor, I have some unique insights on what needs to happen. I also made some mistakes that I can counsel Adam to avoid. You guys will really like his style. he will be similar to me in many ways, but has his own ideas (some better than mine) for what will work there in New England.
Some people have already been hired, and I expect if you have played in the DMV market, you will see some dealers from here, and possibly a supervisor or 2, maybe even a shift manager you recognize.
Expect a hype thread soon and have questions ready. We cant wait to get the property open and meet our new player base.
