Leaky roof? Wow, not a good look at all.

Serious question: why show anyone your hand? Ego boost? Bad idea iyam.

Should be able to fix it now, since they aren't losing money in roullette any more.

Yeah, leaky roof, as in dealers with buckets of dingy water dumping them out.

Serious answer: I do it way too ****ing much...I dunno why, perhaps because it was so pretty? There is NO good reason to do it, although...

Later on I called a raise with A-10. Flop came 10, rag, rag. Raiser bet out, I reraised him because I assumed I had the best hand. He folded (didn't show) but said he folded JJ because I must've had trips based on my previous 2-pair fold.

This kind of play really makes me want to go there again.

Have they fixed the "Ladie's" room sign yet? That totally tilts me more than dumb play or suckouts ever could.

I've never been there, and certainly haven't heard a single positive thing yet, BUT...I like the Ladie's sign. It has unique charm, AND sets off the nits.

My impression of Cheers was that it was a big vast empty room that had a kind of sad vibe to it. All that construction that was going on...that was to make a big empty room? I mean there was a bar at the back end of the room but that's about it. Oh and the roof was leaking in multiple places - again this is after all that construction. Odd.

So I played some 1/2NL...first hand I had A-5 and flopp was A-5-9. I bet $20, got a caller, then a woman raised to $80, I called and so did first fishponent. We all checked the turn and then the river came a 3. She went all in. I showed my half of the table my 2 pair as I folded them. EVERYONE groaned "Nooooooo." Fishponent called her and tabled A-3. She showed A-9.

I had to listen to a bunch of "but you had the odds/but the money in the pot.." crap. I could've said something like "odds don't change a losing hand into a winning hand" but instead I just nodded in agreement. These were the worst players I've played with in a long time, but left down $200. Go figure.

Variance, plain & simple. Good read.

The last of the large bad beat jackpots in southern NH was hit at Seabrook last week for $100k. End of an era.

Unsure, but can confirm the Billiard Club in Nashua has ended theirs after a hit on Friday. They had been winding it down for a while, lowering qualifiers.

Why? To pour all the money into other promos instead?

NH so cray-cray.

Exactly this. And while NH may be cray on a macro scale, from the clubs perspective it makes perfect sense.

Would players prefer to have a BBJ or Highhand or none at all, just the normal rake? I remember the days at Foxwoods when it was just $4 max... would much rather have those days again...

I don't know if anyone's warned you, JG: No one in New England has any idea how to run a cardroom--but even worse, you can't tell them that, because they think they know everything. Expect to hear a lot of, "That's dumb, why do we have to do it that way? That's not how they do it at Foxwoods!"

(Really, you guys are in for a treat, you couldn't pick a better man for the job.)
Much appreciated! Alas, I will not be at the Springfield property. The Poker Room Manager will be Adam Nash. Adam was a shift manager at Beau Rivage when I was there. Adam has a great mind for the game, and is also a winning cash game and tournament player (also a cage fighter, so tread lightly...)

I was there in early March assisting Adam in getting things rolling, and will also be there for the Grand opening of the room. After opening the property here at National Harbor, I have some unique insights on what needs to happen. I also made some mistakes that I can counsel Adam to avoid. You guys will really like his style. he will be similar to me in many ways, but has his own ideas (some better than mine) for what will work there in New England.

Some people have already been hired, and I expect if you have played in the DMV market, you will see some dealers from here, and possibly a supervisor or 2, maybe even a shift manager you recognize.

Expect a hype thread soon and have questions ready. We cant wait to get the property open and meet our new player base.

Just FYI in case you are interested and not aware, Hampton Falls is running 2-4 and 4-4 NL on select days with 4 buck max rake. You aren’t eligible for high hands though.

Hampton Falls has a tiny one. $2k to loser, $1k to winner, no table share IIRC.
Seabrook has the biggest, capped at $24k and change.
Chasers has $4500 to loser, $2750 to winner, $1750 table share.

Personally, I don't know why they are bothering with them. They don't draw in any business at this level. Also, I won't miss the big ones because they take money out of the poker economy and I thought it was sketchy that dealers kept hitting them.

Probably just to keep the moaning to a minimum when a hand that “would have won it” hits.

Hi Money,
Chasers started the $10k Chase you refer to for mostly the reasons you state. I didnt like seeing the $100,000+ get hit and than all that money leaves the poker community but one person either paid down their mortgage or bought their first Harley etc.

What we do to make it attract some players is every Friday we have a qualifying hand reduction. When it starts you lose with quads or better, you win(lol)
last Friday(and currently) the hand you can lose with dropped to AAA/KK.
This Friday is AAA/QQ. After that is AAA/JJ and then it gets pretty fun at AAA/any pair. This is when more players seem to come and when it mostly gets hit.
We are thinking of starting a 2nd one, once the 1st one gets to AAA/any and have two going at once. Or possibly making them $5k Chases with a hand reduction every Monday AND every Thursday AND starting a 2nd one at AAA/any...we shall see.

Anyway, you mentioned us and I wanted to make sure you knew about our little twist of the hand reduction.

All the best!

Dealers kept hitting them???

ROFL!!! LOLLERSKATES!!!

The first time I set foot in a NH cardroom (Rockingham), my first thought was, "This is a Thief's Paradise!" Dealers pulling in bets by grabbing fistfuls of chips off the felt; deck rolling; two-handed cuts; I could fill a page of all the things I saw in my first two minutes in the room.

My jaw hung open, that no one seemed to have a problem with any of this.

And now "dealers kept hitting" BBJ's???

OMG, you suckers are being FLEECED up there! I wouldn't buy into one of those games with Confederate money!

I did not think that dealers were eligible for the promotions. Am I mistaken?

I’m not sure if it applies to all the rooms and all the promotions, but I’m positive I’ve seen dealers hit and get paid out for high hands at some of the rooms.

Apparently chasers now has auto shufflers (according to PokerAtlas).

Also, as it says on PokerAtlas, they offer “discounted hotel rates,” anyone know anything about these?

I was at Chasers tonight(Wednesday). They have the autoshufflers(not installed yet). I was told by a dealer, they are installing them tonight after business closes. They also had a big clear dealer button with Logo inside, trying out. I am all for places trying new things. If it isnt working then scrap it(Promotion wise).

I was in Chasers Wednesday afternoon, saw them unpacking and firing up shufflers. To be installed soon.

Almost drove off the road when I drove by the Rockingham property. Looks weird when stuff that has been there since my childhood, isn't there any more.

Are you playing poker tonight in NH? I am! Lemme know where if you are. I swear I won't take your money.
