Disagree with this greatly. He's not buying tickets to a random city for vacation. He's going from Boston to a specific location for an event as such They don't usually add flights and these flights are jammed with pats fans. Just book the flight and be done with it is my opinion.

Don't worry about flights yet. Begin searching on Tuesdays, which is the day when you'll find the cheapest flights, in August/Sept.

This is terrible advice unless he simply does not care about price. Right now, airlines will jack up the prices due to the emotion of fans creating demand. Once the offseason hysteria slows down you will see the price of these flights come down significantly. It happens every year.

This is how to find the best price. As mentioned above, data has shown that Tuesdays followed next by Wednesdays are the best days to book flights for the lowest price. I have flown weekly or bi-weekly for 8 years with my job and found this strategy to be the nuts.

Sarcasm detector on the blink lately but pretty sure it is beeping since Lattimer specifically mentioned cost in both of his posts on this topic.

This seems like good advice.

I dunno, if I were an airline, and I sensed a demand for 100's (1000's?) of traveling fans...I'd add a flight!

Maybe, just maybe, there will be no airplane seats available from BOS to BNA that weekend, if you try to book 4-6 weeks in advance. Which side of that proposition would you want *your* money on?

Have you ever, in your life, heard someone say, "I tried to buy a plane ticket for next month--they're sold out!" Neither have I.

I haven't been to twin Rivers in about 18 months and it's the same. I figured maybe, things would have changed, instead I got the floor yelling at a dealer because he told her seat open for a second time because it had been ten minutes since the first time he said it. Just fill the seat. I witnessed 45 minutes a dead spread out there while the list was 15+ long on 1/2nl. It's astounding how poorly that place is run.

I usually just go to Twin because it's so soft but as you guys probably know it's a ****hole and they only spread NL/LHE/stud.

I had to stop reading at one point.

It starts out fine, MGM might want to buy the Everett project, and if they do, they'll have to sell Springfield. FW+MS have expressed interest in joining together to buy Springfield in that case, to keep competition out of their region.

But then they list other gaming companies rumored to be interested (pretty much every company that applied for a license in MA).

Then, on top of that, they list every gaming corp known to man, as other potential suitors.

It reminded me of that scene in Deadwood, when the newspaper article that was intended to start a rumor that Montana may annex the camp before Dakota territory gets around to it (to get more favorable terms from Dakota), also listed every state within 1000 miles as a potential suitor. When Johnny Burns starts handicapping this field, Swearengen sneers, "Don't bend over for Montana yet, Johnny. Not when France and Mexico are still yet to be heard from!"

When this guy mentioned Caesars, a company already denied by MA, as a potential buyer, I stopped reading.

I’d be surprised if Mohegan/Foxwoods went in together on a joint venture outside of CT.

Hey does anyone know what the “1 card wins” means @ cheers that shows up on PokerAtlas? I’m assuming it means you only need 1 hole card to make a high hand; is that correct?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance.

Yeah, on certain days you only need 1 hole card to qualify for a high hand.

Speaking of Cheers, I went there for the first time this past Sunday because they had a tourney where 1 in 22 win a WSOP package. Sounded like a good idea to me, except they never got 22 runners while I was there.

My impression of Cheers was that it was a big vast empty room that had a kind of sad vibe to it. All that construction that was going on...that was to make a big empty room? I mean there was a bar at the back end of the room but that's about it. Oh and the roof was leaking in multiple places - again this is after all that construction. Odd.

So I played some 1/2NL...first hand I had A-5 and flopp was A-5-9. I bet $20, got a caller, then a woman raised to $80, I called and so did first fishponent. We all checked the turn and then the river came a 3. She went all in. I showed my half of the table my 2 pair as I folded them. EVERYONE groaned "Nooooooo." Fishponent called her and tabled A-3. She showed A-9.

I had to listen to a bunch of "but you had the odds/but the money in the pot.." crap. I could've said something like "odds don't change a losing hand into a winning hand" but instead I just nodded in agreement. These were the worst players I've played with in a long time, but left down $200. Go figure.
