Nope. I have no loyalty to any room and jump around New England from twin, to foxy, to New Hampshire. Actually wasn't messing and was genuinely curious.

How would classify the games at cheers when they do get some play up there?

I think the games there have been pretty soft at 1-2. Some of the 2-4 and 4-4 games that have run have some component players for sure.

Component players are tough

Michael Weaver, a spokesman for Wynn Resorts, said the company will not act on a name change.

“Opinions are running high right now on the topic of changing the name on our Boston resort,” Weaver said. “Wynn is a $25 billion brand supported by 25,000 employees worldwide; it is not about one person. Now is not the right time to quickly consider a name change, considering the global implications of such a decision.”

When people say they can't understand why the Washington Redskins won't "JUST change their name!", I need to explain this to them.

Of course, they don't believe me.

ME: When you think overnight shipping, you think FedEx. When you think car rental, you think Hertz. Having a brand is WORTH a lot of money! If FedEx changed their name, their company would instantly be worth LESS--a LOT less! They spent decades building up that brand, they would never just toss it away. Now, The LA Clippers just sold for $2B. What does that make an NFL Franchise worth? $3B, minimum? $2.5B? I don't know how much the value of a team would drop if they lost their brand, but even if it were "only" 10%, that's hundreds of millions of dollars!!!

WHOMEVER I'M EXPLAINING THIS TO: (I swear, this is their reply, every time) But they'll make a lot of money when everyone goes out to buy the new jerseys!

ME: Are you ****ing kidding me? Do you know how many jerseys you need to sell to make up "hundreds of millions of dollars"????

WIETT: (upset about this) Yeah, but still!

ME: (thinks this, no point in saying it) "Still!" I guess that means he's "still" going to believe there's no downside to a brand changing its name, despite everything I just laid out in front of him, because feelings count more than facts.

Agree that FedEx and Wynn brand names have economic value, sure.

I don't think the Redskins or Clippers is directly analogous since pro sports teams are oligopolies and local monopolies. You just can't start one and jump in and compete, and the league itself makes each franchise inherently (and insanely) valuable.

I still call Xfinity Comcast. Also still call Fox Tower MGM.

Same here. The outdoor venue in Mansfield is still Great Woods. Sometimes I catch myself saying Fleetcenter instead of Garden but that's not on purpose.

FedEx changed their name (from Federal Express) in 2000, FWIW.

It's not really the same as the examples we're using IMO. Many people would refer to Federal Express as FedEx before 2000. Much like people referred to Kentucky Fried Chicken as KFC before they officially changed to KFC.

Heh, I agree, I just think it's ironic given the entire premise was "If FedEx changed their name, their company would instantly be worth LESS--a LOT less!"

These are poor examples unless Wynn changes its name to Wynning or WINN. A complete name change is a branding change and would be devastating to the long term value of the company. I've got it at 0% chance that Wynn ever changes it's name.

Okay so the 90% of people that are going to go to Wynn probably have no idea who Steve Wynn even is and the remaining 9% probably have no clue he even resigned or why. 1% probably knows and also doesn't give a f***. A name change would probably just bring more light to the situation that they would rather have swept under the rug so it makes no sense for them.

99.9% of the people complaining have never set foot in any casino and no matter the name here locally you wouldn't see them there.
you really think the slot-queens care what its called or poker players for that matter

Not using the Wynn name might have some impact on the casino's hotel business from out-of towners, but will have little or no effect on traffic from locals who just want to gamble, IMO.

Rake in New England Poker Rooms

I was at Cheers last night and saw that they were raking a max of $7 / hand. They do this whether there is a promo going on or not. I believe Chasers will rake the same $7 , but only when there's a promo ongoing.

Would love to see a list of all New England rooms, their rake and the promo's that are being run.

Good idea ?

Yes it's been mentioned ITT. I'll be happy to put the rake info into the OP of the thread, but someone else needs to do the grunt work and gather all that info for me.

Nah. If push comes to shove and they have to change it, they just use Encore and that minimizes the impact.

A lot of the info is on Poker Atlas. The rake info could be supplied by 2+2 readers.

Cheers & Chasers are attacking each other on FB. 34 comments back & forth but still hard to figure out with any specificity what the issue(s) are.
Does anyone here know what’s up?
