Well there are two downtown proposals. It was within walking distance to the Penn proposal but no properties involved were damaged. It very likely has no impact on the casino, with the exception of a couple older, less attractive buildings nearby were destroyed/damaged and will likely be replaced/renovated, eventually improving the area.
The MGM proposal is further away and surely had no effect, but I did see an MGM executive, who I believe was Bill Hornbuckle (may have been someone else) down at the scene shortly after with the Mayor and Lt. Governor. They were at a nearby event when it went down and apparently ran down to the incident.
Fortunately a tragedy was avoided and ultimately this should have no impact on the Springfield's casino future.

Shockingly Holyoke is now back in the mix. The 23-year old Mayor, who originally basically said "f**k off" to a local group partnered with Hard Rock, was elected on an anti-casino platform. Now, he seems to have changed his tune and is preparing to announce a new venture.
While their are little details available right now, I think this is an intriguing location. It's a more rural part of the city and is actually right at the site of a former Ski location. It's possible a ski-resort will be part of the proposal, which would be pretty cool. It's also right at Mt. Tom, which is a great place for pretty much every outdoor activity.
Personally, I am a huge supporter of the MGM proposal, I am excited to hear the details of this Holyoke proposal. The next few months will be interesting!

Reason: added quoted post since they're now non-consecutive
