How much did Rock charge for a beer? I remember another time playing there, I ordered a hot dog and Pepsi, and immediately regretted that I had not checked the price beforehand.

I always felt bad for NBC News anchor Brian Williams, demoted for lying about taking fire while aboard a helicopter in a war zone, when it was a different helicopter in his group that was under fire. He said he didn't lie on purpose, he just got the details wrong. I was the only person in America who bought that explanation, because sadly, I do that all the time--looks like I just did it again.
I remember the club House upstairs at The Rock. I got a beer once, and only once. It was definitely in the $9 range, and that was before pricey IPAs hit the shelves. Never again.

I'm guessing The Clubhouse was designed as a high end area of the race track, so they were fine with overcharging, even if there was no longer any live racing, and definitely nothing high end at all left at The Rock. The place was closer to Alcatraz than High End.

If I could give a recommendation to all the poker rooms. You should post results on your websites so we can see how many entries your tournaments are getting. I don't play tournaments much, but I would play a $250 if the room was drawing in a good size crowd.

What's the best room for tournament turnout? From the outside looking in, it appears that Hampton Falls gets a decent turnout for their big tournaments.
I recall someone said they got 47 people. I wasn't paying that close attention.

A nice bonus was a $500 bounty placed on one of the regulars. HA! Opening weekend, and they have a Reg! well, regular well know NH tourney player, and nice guy, willing to take on the Bounty. The bounty was split $250 cash and $250 entry into the 3 day event coming up (possibly open to others, don't know for sure).

Nice touch there PUCK!

A potential problem with listing results is that many players do not want their winnings posted. Of course, the rooms could post have many players played, and the payouts, or other similar data.

I use http://www.thirdmanwalking.com/plohistory
to track PLO data on card rooms to know where the action has been, and I encourage NH poker rooms to feed this website. There's no reason why similar data can't be stored and displayed for tourneys. I have no idea if there are similar sites already set up for Tournament history.

I wanted to stick around to play some PLO after the tourney, but it didn't seem like it was going to happen.

Very nice card room. I look forward to more tournaments here, and maybe some PLO someday.

Beast, to answer your question: Hampton Falls is also well know for having good numbers in their tournaments and excellent structures.

Real Juicy Game. Lots of raising, calling, straddling, and 3 Betting.

Eventually a second 2/4 PLO feeder table opened, and it was full immediately. I don't think I recognized any of the players. They must have been all online players that showed up. or closet PLO types. or some NLHE players trying to get unstuck before the night ended.

George and Mike are interested in trying to get a regular "PLO night" going. They really want to promote PLO at Chasers. They would like to run a regular tourney night, and HH promos or other ideas, although the promo kitty for PLO is still limited.

They would like input on what the best nights would be, or any other ideas others might have. Thursday is not a real option, as they already have a promo going and it fills the room. Please respond on this thread, or feel free to PM if you prefer.

The same George and Mike that used to run the game at Sons of Italy in Lawrence many years ago?

I have no idea.

Mike is the proprietor at Chasers and before they opened, he had been posting on this thread as Chip Chaser.

George runs the floor at Chasers.

Both have been very open and accommodating and seeking input, especially on how to create an atmosphere conducive to regular PLO games.

forgot to mention:
Ordered the Burger, medium rare.
Delicious. Cooked perfectly. Good size burger. I think it was $5, plus $1 for bacon. Not sure if that included cheese. good value. Will get again, but not at the table. too messy. prefer food that doesn't require use of hands that are pitching [eventually] filthy chips.

I vote Friday for PLO. When the weather is less horrible I could be convinced to play during the week, but for now Friday is pretty much it. That 2-4 game at chasers was good when I played but I'd be worried that it's going to break some people rather quickly. The HF type regs want to play 1-2 and with the $5 straddle and $500 buy-in I think that's the right place to be to keep the game going. Maybe one room could do 1-2 and the other 2-4.

I applaud them for making an effort. The PLO game at HF is going to die I think. Hasn't run last few times I was there on Friday. The owner seems pretty oblivious to things like keeping a game going that's the only of it's type north of FW. I think he's more concerned with using fewer paper cups and not heating the bathrooms. Penny wise pound foolish IMHO.

are you some kind of moron?

if the state took their cut from the net instead of gross, they would be subsidizing rooms that are incompetently run with excessive overhead and punishing rooms that are efficient.

if you offer house backed pit games, sometimes the house loses. cry me a ****ing river.

How would the results of table games reflect how well a room is run?

The state taxes mentioned were only on the gaming tax. Taxes on profits after all expenses in the room is taken in addition to this.

Seems like you may be throwing a rock in a glass house with the moron comment.

Thanks for your input!

I think the key is the buy-in, more than the blinds.

The $500 buy-in game is going to play better than the $300 buy-in.
Not sure there are enough players around to support 2 games in different locations, but possibly 2 tables (at the same or different stacks) in one location would work.

I heard rumors of increase buy-ins, but don't know how real or soon that would be. That could draw players away from Foxwoods, if they were a consistent game.

Do you have a preference for which day of the week for PLO tourney / cash game promos?

Why not Monday or Tuesday as a promo night? Friday seems like a day where, if people know there’s a PLO game going, a game is going to run. Avoiding Wednesday’s might get some of the BigO / PLO8 players down from Manchester for some high only action too.

Are they truly thinking of a PLO tourney or did I misread your comment above?

Yes, they are thinking a tourney may help draw people in, with a cash game as people bust.

Good point about Wednesdays

Fridays or Saturdays are best for me. I’d love to play a live PLO tourney and would esp love the cash game afterwards. This would be st Cheers?

I’ve spent too much time waiting around at Hampton Falls for PLO games that never ran and management didn’t show any interest.

A little greedy in my opinion. Yes we live in New England, but the road conditions are dangerous. Keep your employees off the road. Big risk for what I'm guessing is a small reward to stay open.

Mohegan showing two 2/5 and five 1/2 with a list of 21 for 2/5. Interesting dynamic with (presumably) no dealers coming in forcing all currently working to do a 24-hour shift or shut down game?

Puck,

What are the chances the MLK 3 day tournament will sell out? I definitely want to play but might not get a chance to stop by before the 13th.
