I just caught up on page 103. You all can go deep, disagree, hit back and still make it to the end of the topic with no real verbal bloodshed....nice!
I agree with Puckster in that--go ahead and tell me of a different community that can elevate to this level of discussion and be fine at the end. Poker Players get a bad wrap for sure.
But, our rep is probably better than it has ever been. So we are heading in the right direction.

Is there anyone ITT who picked up any of the Rockingham Park gaming chips during the auction? Bidding was pretty energetic when those chip lots came up for sale, and there seemed to be a good bit of post-auction business afterward too.

So did you pick up one of those lots of 800, and these were the only three you could find that weren't worn to a nub?

Those $5s in particular were really beat up.

Forgot to cash 'em, huh?

They're actually in WAY better shape than the ones sold at auction, so they may command a premium if you can find the right collector.

(Not me, though, just to be clear.)

Thanks for making me feel $32 richer with the three whites I never cashed.

Think this proposal will have less traffic than 300 poker players over 12 hours? Lol

Yours is one style of punctuation, but one that is not more right than the competing style, and one that is losing popularity in favor of logical parentheses, which minimize changes to quoted material and make explicit what is and is not part of the quotation.

The point of language is to maximize fidelity between messenger and receiver. Logical quotations lend to that effort, and style guides are slowly catching up. Wikipedia, the Linguistic Society of America, and many science and law journals are among the guides calling for logical punctuation for that very reason.

There is no authority on this, so you're being more than nitty by asserting your way as "correct".

I do this stuff for a living, and I notice the positioning of quotation marks literally every time I see them. There's nothing strictly wrong with putting the period outside the quote, especially in a logical place like this, where the punctuation is not part of the quoted matter.

You'll lose points for it if you're writing for a place that adheres to most popular style manuals, but in an informal setting like this, you're being 100% clear, and no one really cares if your writing matches Chicago or MLA.

Really? who gives a ....
This is a poker forum.
Do we really need grammar police?

Can you go back to posting interesting and pertinent stuff, like you usually do, and leave it to that?

Slight derail, working to get back on point now.

Speaking of on-topic stuff, where have you been playing since Rock closed? I feel like anyone from that group of players could end up at any of the rooms in NH, since Rock was right in the middle.

There are no derails. It's a low content thread for us New Englanders to talk about whatever we want, poker-related or not (I personally would like to see more non-poker talk in here). It's the New England General Discussion thread, not New England Poker Discussion thread.

I was wondering the same. Went up to Seabrook for the first time in probably years last weekend and was stunned to see that even after the Rock closing they still only have 4 cash tables total, 2 running Omaha of some sort (didn't ask). Where is everyone from the Rock going? Hampton?

Manchester seems to have experienced a bit of a boom, but I haven't see a similar boom in Milford. I can't speak for the other rooms.

Things could get interesting when the two planned rooms open in Nashua. Only a couple weeks now.

I haven't been playing much lately. Been to Hampton Falls a couple of times, and hope to get there a few more, but just didn't happen. Some lack of motivation on my part, as I am not even sure if and for how long I can get into a PLO game.

I heard there are sometimes PLO games going on in Manchester, but not sure the ride is worth it for a maybe game, that could break at any time.

45 minutes if just too far to be driving on a regular basis right now for me. With how much I can play in an average session spending 1.5 hours time isn't worth the commute outside the occassionally day where I can contribute 8+ hours. Salem was a great location for myself as the commute time was always tolerable so I could justify making that my regular room.

I imagine there are plently like myself who are in the same boat.

No, nobody cares, and we do not want the grammar police. I believe that is the exact point both Jimulacrum and I were trying to make.

Yup, and four cash tables is a lot for them, even on a weekend. Lots of dealers fill those seats too. One day mid-week, I was the only non-dealer playing at the only game running. Like you, I was expecting a mini boom after the Rock closed, but it never came.

Hampton Falls on occasion (pretty good crowd), Twin River (occasionally), mostly Foxwoods (due to comps and free rooms).

I'm about as central to every room possible at the 90/495 junction. 1hr to Seabrook, Hampton, Manchester, and 1.25hr to Foxwoods. I've hit each at least one time. I haven't hit Twin River yet, but only because there will always be 0% chance of a PLO game running. What I've seen and heard:

- Seabrook is pretty limited, but does seem to get a PLO or PLO8 game running with some frequency accordingly to poker Atlas. Esthetics similar to the Rock (aka dirty)
- Hampton is a nice clean room with the occasional PLO game. The one PLO session I played did not have the nit fest feel of that at the Rock
- Manchester was a very nice room. Went on the weekend and because of the high hand promotion, no one was interested in PLO, but staff told me games will run a couple of times during the week. It would be really nice if they could get in Poker Atlas or Bravo. I'd say the best staff (wait, dealer, floor) of the bunch
- Foxwoods... well let's just say that I'm not impressed given how much people praised it. That said, it's the one place that'll guarantee games, especially PLO

As for MA drivers, my biggest peeve since moving here is that they are more than happy at driving 62 in the middle lane... until you want to pass... and now they are suddenly motivated to go 78...
