This was news to me, although perhaps it's in another thread:

http://www.bostonherald.com/business...osition=recent

Sounds vague and preliminary, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I'd even settle for just better SNG traffic at Rockingham. Back in the day I'd go to Seabrook because at least there you could get the higher buy-in SNGs to run once in a while, including the ridiculously soft $150 5-persons where you'd be lucky to have one other person at the table who understands push-fold strategy, let alone shorthanded play. At Rockingham it's just the $40 SNGs that seem to run, never anything higher.

Anybody know what the rake is now? I emailed them maybe 2 years ago when I was trying to figure out if it could be profitable to play there and got a reply that said it was a $7 max. They also drop regardless if there is a flop or not. Now they are running a bbj I can only imagine how high it is. $10?

Just a heads up:

The Eastern poker tour is running their season ending tourney thing. Its at the Milford Portuguese Club. Some low buyin tourneys.

They will also be running 4 or 5 tables of 1/2 cash. Close to same rake as FW. I think they take a max of $5 vs FW $4.

Its going on tonight, saturday, and sunday.

Foxwoods takes $5 in rake at 1/2 when you include the BBJ. So I'd say same rake.

While 2+2 was away, anti-casino candidates swept the town elections in Foxborough. Kraft and Wynn immediately threw in the towel.

This comes shortly after MGM/Mirage gave up on Sturbridge.

I'm still skeptical that either Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun can raise the money needed to expand into MA.

If Caesars somehow screws up Suffolk Downs, and the Wampanoags predictably botch Taunton, we may come out of this with zero casinos???

I was in Vegas last week and played poker in the Wynn's poker room. Easiest the nicest, classiest place I've played. Bummer they won't be opening a casino in MA.

I hope Suffolks Downs and Tauntun don't get botched!

Hi there!

Just a quick (or not so quick after all) question... a friend and me want to go play some MTT in the Foxwoods/Mohegan Sun area at the end of June 2012 (monday-tuesday and wednesday) and we can't seem to decide which casino will be best for us...

We want to play like 2 or 3 tournaments a day and want to stay at the hotel of the casino where we play if possible (poker rate available for MMT??)

Are the financials problems of Foxwoods impacted on the number of people participating in the tournaments?

Looking for your input!

Thx!

Norm

No impact at all, best I can tell u to do would be look at both tournament schedules for both properties then decide upon yourselves which you'd rather play

Well, if any state can screw this up, it will probably be Mass. But I hope not.
Foxwoods would indeed have a hard time, I think, given their current situation. But I think Mohegan will be able to find the $ to support their bid.
I always thought that Wynn's effort was a real longshot (not the first time he's done that). The entire casino bill was written with Suffolk in mind, with support from Menino, Patrick, and DeLeo; in addition, Suffolk's proximity to Boston's population and tourists ought to have given it a financial advantage when it came to bidding. Moot now, though, I guess.
And, in other news, while we were away, the newly-formed Mass. Gaming Commission got off to a flying start, first by complaining that it will be unable to meet the timing deadlines set forth in the Casino bill, and then demonstrating its sound judgement and careful vetting of gaming personnel, by having to fire its newly-hired Executive Director, because of a previously-known child abuse allegation in his past.
Gov. Patrick then chimed in to suggest that the Commission should focus on doing its job.... !
We may get casinos this decade.....

Similar play, slightly different experiences. I think the MoSun room is more comfortable but Foxwoods has way more tables and the dalies get more runners.
I've generally found better room rates at Foxwoods. In the Foxwoods "venue" thread you can generally find room codes for the tourniment series or just sign up for a players card and that should save you some money.

How are those BBJ's in NH working out? I predicted a **** show, curious to hear how that's been going.

I tried emailing Rockingham not too long ago to find out what they were charging for rake nowadays with the bbj but the email address on their page is no good and everything bounces back undeliverable. The contact form on their website doesn't work either. I thinks its hilarious they run a tourney bbj. Last I heard it was 3 or 4 times the size of the cash table one haha.

I am an experienced winning player playing about 20 hours per week of 1/2 and some 2/5 at foxwoods. I'm sure regs in these games (esp 1/2) would recognize me.

I was looking for someone to work on my game with by doing hand exchanges maybe once per month if we are a good match. Please be an experienced winning player. The format would be to take notes on a 25 to 35 hand session (for an example see: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/17...sults-1196436/ ) where the hands were ones that you voluntarily put $ in the pot either by limping, calling or raising.

Hand exchanges were very effective for me in improving my game when I played online. PM me if interested.

Excited to see this also, I'm guessing it will most likely make to local news channels?

Most likely. Every MA casino news development so far has made the stations (Boston anyway).

Better/larger image

Quote:
The hotel would have 300 rooms, if constructed, and there would be roughly 10 restaurants and 4,000 to 5,000 slot machines in a nearly 200,000 square foot gaming space, according to details reported by owners of Suffolk Downs.
http://bostinno.com/2012/06/05/suffo...sino-proposal/

Supposedly Foxwoods total gaming space is 344000 square feet for comparison. Bout half the gaming space as the Woods.

Very nice, however I did expect a larger hotel so that is surprising, but still exciting!

There will be tables, yes? (table games and/or poker). I find it interesting that they mentioned everything BUT tables.
