This has always been true for every other promo drop in history.

you take a jackpot drop 100% of the time you are open but then redirect those funds to the hours you need to boost traffic.

it’s just rare for places to pay out 0% during the highest traffic hours.

Did NH change the buy-in limits? For the first time ever, I'm seeing Chasers running $5/10 with a $2,000 buy-in cap and Seabrook has $5/10 listed with a $2,500 buy-in cap. If so, this elevates NH poker in my opinion.

So, once again, poker takes a back seat to other casino games. Keeping poker at its present site might mean a few more tables, but still only one mens room ?

C'mon man I gotta go !

The gaming commission hasn't approved multiple toilets

Any chance NE rooms like Mohegan and Foxwoods return to running high hand promos?!?

Are the new owners really going to pay rent at 2 properties? Maybe they're just waiting for the lease to be up at the current dump?

I suspect that the problems all poker rooms are having is that there are just not enough dealers available for them to add more tables/promotions/etc. There are certainly more than enough players around.

I've been looking to see if MGM ever reopens their dealer school again. Kind of hard to maintain a dealer pool if you are solely dependent on dealers from the pre-covid era.

There is no dealer shortage. There's a pay shortage. Same goes for nurses teachers etc.. Its a pay shortage

The $3 promo drop in NH has killed poker.

The $5 rake plus $3 promo drop is almost as bad as the Encore.

At least at the Encore you can get a free drink (plus tip of course).

It almost seems as if as far as room management is concerned the promo's and the promo drop has surpassed the actual playing of poker in importance.

NH takes a 33% rev off the top. Really excessive and makes the entire business model very difficult to do well.

Delaware North (Jacobs family) owner of the Boston Bruins and dozens of other things, just bought the Boston Billiard Casino in Nashua (deal hasn't fully closed yet) and Chuchill Downs just bought the Chasers Poker Room and Casino in Salem NH (deal hasn't fully closed yet) so you know there's big fat profits to be had. The state of NH does skim 10% off the top, for themselves. There's a couple of people on this forum who know a lot more about the NH Casino business model than I do.

If you google Chasers Salem NH sold, and Boston Billiard Nashua sold, you will find articles about them being sold to Churchill Downs and Delaware North. Like I said earlier, if Churchill Downs and Delaware North are getting involved, you know there's plenty of dough to be had.

Salem NH can easily support another Casino/poker room.

Getting past the Salem NH politicians is another story.

Question: What ever happened to Sal Lupoli opening a casino/poker room in Salem NH?

At least Concord and Filotimo (Manchester) have a few slots (maybe they are the "historical horse racing" machines?) The Boston Billiards sale article mentions that Delaware North will be replacing the pool tables with HHR slots. Sports betting is also in Manchester, and is subject to local approval in all cities. So yeah, lots of non-poker revenue opportunities.

Not that interested in breaking into non poker gaming. Want to focus on what we know which is offering great poker games at fair prices and treating poker players well.

The numbers look big on those NH rooms, but the amount of staff and expenses are a lot higher than people think. Poker room margins are rarely significantly higher than the 33% tax, and now you take on a lot of risk on your investment. It really isn't that attractive of an option.

If we managed to figure out a way to provide poker in New England, with fair rates and big tournaments, how do people see that going? I'd like to create a regional hub for poker in the area similar to what we have created in Austin for Texas poker.
