You should ask in the Encore hype thread. PierreFermat seems to be on top of everything happening.

I was playing at one of the NH rooms tonight and there was a lot of talk of the owners of Manchester taking over the Cheers spot. People seemed to act like it was a done deal.

Not sure if allowed on here asking for a friend, but does anyone know of a business that wants to sub-lease +/- 1mm sq ft in Ledyard CT? More available if needed.

Seriously, it is pretty easy to throw a dagger. But try running a retail business with huge fixed assets in the worst location possible with a regulatory environment that poses it own issues and you cannot relocate. Oh yeah, your competition is handpicking their location and you got what you got from 30 years ago.

Yes, they'll be charging $18 for parking, the basttards.

That info is inconsistent with the info being posted in the Encore hype thread.

It’s been discussed in numerous places that the parking charges are $29/self park and $49/valet

Here's my take, it was discussed that MGM prior to opening and even weeks after they opened that they will and were charging for parking. There's a lot of minformation out there from the competition.

Has encore officially stated parking charges or is this just a word of mouth thing?

I got it from two managers at Encore.

Fwiw, I've negotiated several union contracts in the Boston area for major universities, and free/subsidized parking for employees is always a hot topic. Boston and Cambridge both have a minimum fee that must be assessed annually per parking spot, or the business is fined by the city. I don't know if Everett is subject to the same restrictions, but it is quite probable.

I heard it from a guy who works there - $18, obv not valet, but who knows. It’s hearsay.

Anywhere spreading PLO with regularity? I've been driving to montreal but would be interested if there are any regular games in the NH area (I'm in VT).

Chasers in Salem, NH regularly gets 2-3 tables of 1/3 PLO going, Omaha high hands on Monday and Wednesday and a progressive bad beat.

I mentioned what I read here about the parking fees to a friend.
He said if he has to pay for parking, he's not going.
I think this will be bad for business.

They might have *some* form of validation, but they can't make it free for everyone, or else the garage will be full of Boston work commuters.

Don't forget the Red Sox, Celtics, and Bruins game nights. I'd much prefer to park free at Encore and take an $8 Uber rather than pay $40-50 to park.....I'm sure others would as well. The people in Boston understand the premium on parking in Boston. I stayed at a hotel there two months ago and had to pay $55 to park on top of the room cost. That's just the way it is. Will it prevent some from visiting? Of course.....but plenty pay for parking every day and those who live in the city pay $300-400 per month just to park. This isn't Norwich.

I forgot all about sports. Plus other events like concerts, etc. Yeah, they can't do that.

The flip side is you can pay the T parking fee at Wellington Station and Uber to Encore from there.

Yes there are alternatives for sure. All this discussion about parking fees and ease of access (not to mention likely no rooms for poker players) is why I've stated my opinion of Foxwoods not getting hurt nearly as much as some feel they will once the curiosity factor is satisfied. An easy drive and a couple free nights will look mighty enticing after having to pay $29 to park and/or deal with other logistic issue of entering Boston at different large chunks of the day.

Except I can sleep in my own bed and eat in my own kitchen if I go to Encore. The Woods is already dying and Encore isn't event open yet.

This (and events)is the main reason why we can never get anywhere on parking costs in contracts. Last time I met with Cambridge parking council their response was "Take public trans, we don't want your f*!#%ng car here."

I'd like to give my upmost support to the Entitled Whining Hoodies staying at Foxwoods.

Yeah. They can all play with each other and bemoan how they only get a grill cleaner for a royal flush for all I care.

Charge me $100 to stay away from them when I do play and I'd say sign me up.
