When I was there I was told 5+1 with a bbj (any quads) out the gate and another dollar if it's a HH day. $60-300 for the 1/2. They weren't spreading 2/5 on casino test night but were not talking like it is a no go. A floor told me, be patient as they get rolling and they'll spread tourney's if it's not full of cash games. If it is then obviously no tourney's.

Idk what the other guy wants to know in regards for games that they will spread. If there's demand they'll spread it like any other card room. Just watch bravo early on and see what the people want.

It's real nice in there btw.

So it's the same as FW rake structure. Bleh. At this point in my life I just dabble occasionally with poker as I have family, my own business, and work full time, but I pretty much refuse to play even when I have time because the rake makes 1-2 unbeatable. Is it 2 on the flop at MGM?

Edit, maybe unbeatable is the wrong term. Not worth it as much as they take so much more of the profit. The games are obviously still beatable but much less so than when it was $4 max. These jackpots are ruining the poker economy.

Johnny Grooms mentioned several months ago that someone from Beau Ridge was coming over to head the room, and probably become a rep on here. I'm on my phone so can't dig up the posts. AFAYK is that still true?

I played there Monday night, and it's $100 min $500 max buy-in for 1/2, straddles are $5, and Mississippi straddles are allowed. That room will be action central based on what I know about the immediate local player pool, let alone people that travel in.

I can also attest to the fact that it's real nice in there.

So can I. 1/3 NL is $100-$500. If you guys want info. Someone start a thread. Adam Nash is the poker room manager here. I have been here for the a few days and can tell you that I like this decor/poker room a lot. It is super nice, and the room is set up for action. It’s a place I would like to play if I could.

I read somewhere that there's going to be 23 tables.
Seems much too few to me.
On stakes, games, rake, no idea.

You need to add Chasers to your list. It's the best room now in northern new England.

Do you find games in new england easier than ones in Vegas?

While you're at it, the Lebanon, NH room should be added as well - it's now going on a month since opening

You "bleh" at Foxwoods which is still among the lowest rake structures around? The standard in 90% of the rooms I play in my travels is 5+2 it's just that everyone has been spoiled in New England with Mohegan and Foxwoods being 4+1 for so long and being the anomaly for poker rakes in non-Las Vegas rooms.

Also heard that Mississippi straddles WILL be allowed!

Just because it's the "norm" elsewhere, doesn't mean it's the way it should be. Same thing with jackpots. Just because they draw in people doesn't mean it's good for the room. They just cut their nose to spite their face. Millions of dollars were removed from the poker economy at Foxwoods because of the BBJ.

And I'm all for Mississippi, so many people won't do it given my LLSNL experience in Vegas.

You do realize how ridiculous the bolded sounds, right? Drawing people to your room is NEVER a bad thing. Ever. The $2 jackpot drop which is becoming standard everywhere allows for promos to draw players to the room yet Foxwoods still has a much better structure than most. However many millions of dollars were removed from the poker economy in rake was offset many times over by the millions more that the promos bring into the room. The numbers don't lie.....compare that room during Monday Madness (70+ games) or even a Tuesday HH day (35+) to that of a Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday when it's a struggle to reach 20 games.

The addition of hundreds of recreational players to a room on a promo day is well worth the additional dollar drop. I'll take a juicy and exploitable 5+2 raked game 100% of the time over a 4+1 snoozefest as it is always the more profitable game.

If you're going to quote me, please don't put words in my mouth or misconstrue what I said. I never said a thing about HH days. Those I have no issue with as it is mostly money that gets recycled through the poker community. I only brought up the BBJ because, let's be real, when someone binks 250k, that money is paying off a mortgage or buying a car.

Bringing people into the room isn't a bad idea, but it needs to be done in a proper way, and I just don't agree with having a BBJ increase to rake as a good thing. It's not good for the longevity of the game. Think of it like this, about 12 mil gets paid out each day in slots there which means 12.2 or so gets pumped in. What if Foxwoods said the odds of winning are now 1 spin per day but you're going to win the 12 million. Those people that spin $1000 worth of spins through a day and leave down $50 are now leaving down a grand, and Foxwoods closes quickly. I know that an extreme example, but it's the same concept with promos like a BBJ that give huge sums of money to one people, out of an already shrinking group of people.

In regards to your hundreds of extra players in a room on promo day is good, I don't quite agree to an extent. I guess it can possibly make it better for game selection purposes, but if there are 10 tables or 40 tables going, you're still stuck at one table. It really doesn't make that much of a difference unless the normal 10 games you play are reg infested.

Just my opinion

Who ever said that a game is a snoozefest just because its $4+$1? And... Since when does higher rake ($5+$2) guarantee that a game is going to be a push over full of splashy fools? These things are completely irrelevant to whether a game is good or not.

Sounds like you may have been hypnotized by Pucks "higher rake is better for the game" scam. FYI: Higher rake is NOT better for the game!!!

Room is packed. Nice room.

MGM runs your level by tier credits like Foxwoods. Poker earns 0 tier credits. Can't imagine it stays this way because players won't be able to earn rooms and such. My guess is it changes with some backlash from players. I can't see things grinder types with free rooms at Foxwoods stay here if they can't earn rooms. Or maybe the hotel is too small and there's no chance of it. All speculation on my part but making all aware.

I imagine it stays that way. MGM runs their properties the same across the board. It's not like tier credits can be spent.

According to one user there:

Also there's going to be a long learning curve. According to the floors, Mississippi is on (I've done it every button) and closest to UTG takes precedent for who can straddle. Lol it's literally the exact opposite, but no one has tried to straddle UTG over a BTN straddle.
