Assuming $10 max blind is signed into law, is the player pool big enough (and not too diluted) in NH to support 3 tiers of games? 1/2, 2/4 (or maybe 2/5 going forward) and something bigger? I’ve been hesitant to try to move up from 1/2 mostly because I don’t want to play the biggest game in town with presumably the best players. If a bigger game siphons some of them off, I’d be more psyched on giving it a shot.

I just don’t see 5-10 NL running much, if at all.

Chasers seems to be the only NH room that can consistently get 2-4 NL running — sure, 2-4 NL games do happen at other rooms to varying degrees, but not around the clock.

Because of this, I don’t see it changing the landscape all that much.

Again, I've never played in Chasers nor Cheers, my NH experience was strictly Rockingham and Seabrook...

But it was obvious to me that either no one was watching those games, or didn't care what they saw. Almost none of the dealers were following standard procedures, and no one was correcting them. They could steal with impunity, the way they handled cards and chips.

Hence, "LOL cameras."

What in the world has happened to BBC? I used to go on Saturday or Sunday at opening and at worst it would take an hour or maybe at the very most two for $2/$4 NL to run, but both of the last two times I went in the past month it hadn't started by the time I had to leave at 4pm. And these weren't bright sunny days mind you.

I get that the Salem rooms have been and remain more active, but is this place no longer a go to venue for anyone but the $1/$2 crowd on weekend days? And I'm not even talking about spirited $1/$2 - I was so bored at one point yesterday that I counted the number of hands between $50 pots, and I think at one point it reached 22!

Seems to me like the 1/3 PLO that goes semi-frequently in the last few weeks pulled enough of the 2-4 player pool that it runs less often now.

Had a chatty guy at my table yesterday, here in the midwest, who mentioned to his neighbor that he was from Boston. "Where, exactly?", I asked. He quickly caught on that I must be from that area, too, and we spent the down discussing the New England poker scene.

One of the regs, who is a retired big-deal financial guy, was particularly interested in the Wynn stuff, and other gaming-business doings in that area. He's clearly seen a few headlines, but hasn't gone deep-diving like the conversation he was hearing.

Well, my new friend from New England got involved in a couple of big pots early, and went full-blown M******* on these stoic midwesterners. He was M******* after winning a pot, and M******* after losing a pot. The other players were nonplussed. The M******* stood out like a sore thumb at this table.

Later, away from the table, I told the finance guy, "Everyone here who knows I'm a Boston guy is asking me if I plan to work at the new Wynn property there. I am not...because imagine working in a room where every player is THAT guy!" His eyes went wide at the thought of it.

I hardly play poker anymore, but had a chance to visit Chasers today and Cheers a little over a month ago. Both rooms are nice from my perspective and the staff was friendly and professional at both.

In terms of ambiance, my tastes lean slightly towards Chasers, but I'd be comfortable at either. My one complaint about Chasers was, as someone pointed out the other day, the cage failed to count down any of the full slots on the rack I was cashing out (subtle brag). It's a nit, and I always count myself down before racking up, but still think it needs to be done.

I haven't had a chance to eat at either, so I can't comment on the food quality.

In my very non-professional, "I play poker 4 times a year" opinion, I'd rank them 1 and 1a with Chasers getting the nod simply because of player population right now. When I went to Cheers on a Friday night about a month ago, there were 2 tables running that probably had a seat empty at each. When I drove by there today at noon (granted right after open), the lot looked dead so I kept driving to Chasers where there were three 1/2 tables running and I believe a 2/4.

The rooms being 30 minutes from me means that they'll have my business instead of FW going forward (I'm sure they're devastated lol) except when I feel a burning need to play seven card stud again.

Are you saying you think they should take every chip out of the rack to count them?

I don't understand the complaint either. 20 chips fit in each row of the rack. Is the row full?

I think people are too accustomed to Foxwoods and the onerous way that they count chips. It should be a fast and simple procedure presuming a row is full and of the same color.

I don't think they should count down ALL slots, just A slot then they can run a chip across the other full slots. The Chasers chips don't seem to fit quite perfectly in the rack slots when they're full.

It is the cashiers responsibility to make sure the house does not get short changed. It is your responsibility to make sure you do not get short changed. The cashier works for the house. You work for you. Count your own chips, if you wanna make sure you don't get short changed.

Oh my god, this.

I don’t comprehend how people go to the cage without knowing how many chips they have, make a deal with the cashier to trade their chip currency for USD currency, and then walk away from the cage without knowing if that transaction cost them money or not.

I must not be as rich as some people I suppose New England General Discussion - Poker Room List in OP

I think that some people complain about whatever rooms procedures are no matter what they are. Go over to the FW thread and read about how incredibly frustrating it is to stand in line at the cage b/c the cage is understaffed and break down each rack. Come over here and see complaints for the exact opposite (which is pretty standard procedure in Vegas). Poker players got to be the most nit picky people out there.

Off topic, when do we get our hype thread for MGM? Place is opening in less than 3 months.

The most amazing thing is to watch them count chips at the Hard Rock in Tampa. There is no organization or procedure whatsoever, except to separate the racks, then use a counting machine for each stack in random order. Then have a supervisor double check if it's over a certain amount. It sometimes takes 5-10 minutes to get a supervisor. No wonder players have been trailed leaving this place and targeted for robberies, after everyone knows someone is cashing out big [enough].

It makes you appreciate the slow arduous checkout at Foxwoods.

that's what happens when you don't grease the right palms and then compound it by calling them out.

Whoever invested in Cheers, must be upset in general. Not much is getting people in the door consistently enough to warrant 37 tables! As a player you hope for game selection, action of course and an occassional promo. Is there still hope? If not, when's the fire sale....need to be critical here.

Why arent people going besides 1 or 2 tables?

What can get them to come & consistently come back?

Have the chairs been updated, to Borgata North or is it still not?

What happened to those WSOP satelittes, was there even enough demand?

Now a licensing issue, to start the summer off, not looking good...
