The jackpots were hit by dealers who worked for different card rooms. The Seabrook jackpot was hit by a Hampton dealer and a Hampton jackpot was hit by a Seabrook dealer who, iirc, also got a table share of a different Hampton jackpot. Since moving to high hands I know of one dealer who hit 6 high hands in his own room as of a couple months ago.

I'm not an "it's rigged!" conspiracy theorist, but it looked/looks bad. Just the perception that something might be up could cost the rooms business.

When I was there last night the auto shufflers had not been installed in all tables, the one I sat at all night didn't have one. Also, the new dealer buttons are nice and all but they're waaayyy too big. They get in the way of the dealer pitching the cards to the person on the button. It's basically the actual size of a hockey puck.

I also was a bit tilted by one of the Chasers dealers berating the player in seat 1 who he felt had some hygiene issues and going out of his way to inject plenty of his political views into the discussion. I couldn't personally smell it, though I wasn't sitting next to the player, but it was a pretty bad image for an employee to be backhandedly treating a player like that. The player wasn't paying attention as he was talking to his wife, so the dealer made sure he wasn't doing it to the player's face and so he couldn't directly hear it. But everyone else at the table could see and hear the talk with the politically like-minded player in seat 4. Player hygiene is certainly a concern, but there are mature and respectful ways to bring it up, especially when it's an employee bringing it up to a customer. This dealer took the cowardly route by not even addressing it to the player directly. I should've said something to the floor on my way out and didn't, so that's my bad. Felt crappy driving home after letting it go.

Anyone who's played a bit at Chasers can probably figure out who the dealer I'm referencing is. Definitely not the first time I've heard him needlessly inject politics to the table discussion.

You think there’s a mature and respectful way for an employee to bring up the subject of hygiene with a player? Can’t say that I’ve ever been present for an employee pointing out that subject with a patron.

I've seen cases where either a dealer or fellow player has discreetly mentioned it to the floor, and the floor then asked the player to step away from the table for a quiet private conversation. That seemed to be a nice way to handle it.

Idk man, sitting at a poker table where your very close to other players knowing you have poor hygiene is equally disrespectful IMO. It’s happened to me on multiple occasions and it’s unbearable to play next to. Sure you can bring it up in a better way I suppose, but please don’t play poker when you repulsively stink.

This is the proper way to handle it in any business. Let management handle it. It's almost always company policy to have the service level employee notify management of a non emergency situation.

This actually happened at a table a month ago or so. I have sat next to this woman twice and could not bear the stench and the last time she was in the 10 seat and I could tell the dealer was disgusted by it. As soon as that dealer was pushed, she went straight to the floor. I don’t think they did anything about it though.

In my experience, more often than not, the offender does NOT know it. He or she often comes from a different culture, and smell is not from a lack of hygiene, but rather a completely different diet.

I once spoke to an American who lived in Viet Nam for years, and when he came home, his family told him he stinks. It was from eating an entirely different catalog of foods.

To be clear, sometimes it's not a cultural thing--the offender just doesn't bathe. Summers in Vegas can be brutal for dealers, in this regard. Players can complain or change tables, dealers cannot. But again, I've often seen the food thing mistaken for the hygiene thing.

Oh, and those folks from different cultures? THEY think YOU stink, too!

Bingo. This is the mature and respectful way to handle the situation. Not to, as an employee, backhandedly mock and berate a customer to the rest of the table while trying to avoid the player seeing it. Then throw in an unnecessary political discussion on top of that. It's definitely not unreasonable to address a player's hygiene if it's bothering multiple other players and/or the staff, and as players we should make sure we're taking care of that before coming to the table. The player's hygiene may well have been a cultural difference, and that's fine - all the more reason to handle it respectfully and in a subtle way.

Easy solution for all...just bathe regularly. I don’t care where you are from or what **** you eat. Keep yourself clean. People who smell bad have no respect for themselves nor others. For adults to have to address this issue is disturbing in so many ways. If you have time to gamble you should have an extra 10 minutes to shower. So the guy that smells like a rotten onion thinks the guy who smells like Old Spice stinks? Makes perfect sense.

Increase rake to smelly players. Seems to be the go-to solution for every poker issue in NH.

His point was that showering does not matter because even when they shower, their different diet causes the offending smell.

Hi, at Chasers we allow the dealers to win during High Hand promotions. Bad beat style promos such as our $10k Chase is different though. A dealer cannot win the winning or losing portion of a bad beat type promo. But they can be part of the table share!
So, what happens if a dealer beats the qualifying hand? What happens to the $2,500? It gets added to the table fund of $1750 and the new table fund is $4250, so everyone, including that dealer, shares this larger amount.

Hello!
Yes, the shufflers are installed and it’s going well!
Although we have 16 tables, we have installed shufflers on 9 of them. They are expensive and we prefer to see the value for a while and decide later if we stay at 9, or increase/decrease from there.

Hope to see you at Chasers.

That's a pretty convoluted dealer policy. They can't win the bad beat on either end, but can win a table share? What even is that? What integrity is it protecting? Just seems strange.

I agree that it's a bit of a head scratcher, yet I give Chip credit for coming on here and setting things straight rather than leaving it unanswered.

I used to have that job, at an offshore sportsbook, posting on a message board like this one, only for sports bettors. There was no pleasing that crowd. The sign-up bonuses were never high enough, the WR were never low enough, they could nitpick every policy to microscopic levels...and we'd ask ourselves, "Why are we so worried about the guys who read that message board? They can't be more than 0.1% of our customer base."

The answer, I figured out later, was that "free message boards" was the company's advertising plan. While other books were buying ads in Maxim magazine and USA Today, I was on www.PlaceWhereTheSharpsGo.com trying to sell our services. All we ever got were the customers we never should've wanted.

I'm reminded of that every time I see Chip or Puck post here. The responses always follow the same pattern. Sure, they usually deserve it--but not EVERY time.

I'm imagining Bill Belichick posting in the Patriots thread, and posters over there (you know who you are!) questioning his every move and calling him an idiot.

It's too bad that all the folks who know how to run a cardroom or an NFL team are busy being hair dressers and janitors, posting on message boards.
