I noticed that too. Also, it’s showing tourneys for this Saturday there.

Speaking of PokerAtlas, I noticed you can’t get on the wait list at Chasers via the app, or at least not on a consistent basis.

I told one of the guys at Chasers and he said it’s an issue on the PokerAtlas side.

Dan, just an FYI if you aren’t aware in case you can work with PokerAtlas if you are having any problems with players trying to get on wait lists via the app.

Wow, I wasn't expecting that. I'm not saying a higher rake would prevent me from playing anywhere but given the choice of venues us poker players will have to choose from , I'll have to wait and see. $7 is as high as I've ever seen.

It will be interesting to see which venues make it. With Springfield, Everett and another casino opening in Ct along with all the NH locations, we will have
a ton of options within a 2 hour drive. In the end , it will be the players who decide.

Thanks for following up on this. I tried it last week and was excited about this feature, then disappointed to have it fail on me.

The River Casino in Nashua was doing something like this. Jackpot rake, plus a separate rake to split amongst the top 20 players with the most hours in the room that month. Completely annoying. So if you stopped by one night a week you basically are just donating.

Maybe since Puck is a player he will offer a table/s with just $5+1 that don't fund promos for regulars. Log hours at the $7 table your hours count towards promo. This would be similar to the 5/10 and 20/40 game at Foxwoods staying out of the BBJ rake.

Very liberal and generous plan in place....
Your nearby competitor has a much better rakeback program: not taking the extra dollar in the first place.

If you're raking $6+$1, I will visit your room once just to see the place and then never return unless you reduce the rake. Taking $5+$1 already puts a big dent in a $1/$2 game. Taking $6+$1 is murder. Doesn't matter how many bells and whistles you put on it.

I think taking the most rake in the area will cost Cheers some players. Time will tell............

There are fish everywhere. I find it interesting that you would take this position when there are multiple posters here, players in this market, who are telling you that "No, we won't pay 6+1 rake as it is not competitive with the NH marketplace." There isn't a debate over "possibly" losing players when it is these players who are telling you that they will not play the room due to the rake.

If the rake is indeed $6+ $1 or $2 I will not even go there to check it out!!!

If Puck thinks high ceilings and lots of TV's make it worth visiting what might be the highest rake in New England (or damn close to it) then I think he has seriously misjudged the market.

While it doesn't seem like much it adds up... If you are a frequent player who logs 500+/- hrs per year the extra dollar or two of rake will cost you $1k-$2k per year right out of your pocket depending if its $6+$1 or $6+$2. How much long term rake you pay also depends on how its taken i.e. if there's $1 taken even if there's no flop or if there's $2 taken on the flop no matter what the pot size is. It's hard enough to beat the rake and be a long term winner at $1-$2NL as it stands now so taking an extra $1k-$2k per year right out of your pocket will make it much much tougher to flourish. The high hour per year regs that drive a rooms business will certainly not go there for that reason... They will look at it as a free $1k-$2k per year if they play at Chasers or Hampton vs Cheers!!!

Per Dan and Cheers staff on social media, seems like they are opening this Saturday at 11 am.

I think he means comps (reward points are a sort of rakeback). But yes he can if he does so before Saturday 11am apparently.

That's what I was thinking, but I don't want points to offset an extra dollar. We get points elsewhere to offset the already in place cheaper rake.

Would much rather see a room with just $5 rake no jackpot or promo rake. Reward your regulars from the profits if you are so inclined. A single 1/2 table open 12 hours a day should rake over $400k a year. (Just assumed 20 full raked pots an hour * $5 * 12hrs * 360 days). After the charity and state that leaves the house over $220k. The comps can be much lower if you aren't asking players to pay for them.

Sounds like Cheers went all-in on the buildout of the room. I will definitely check it out. I'd suggest making it the best room for players via the game itself rather than promos. It is about a 25 min drive for me. Probably similar or longer for most players since it isn't exactly in a large city. (Population 28k.) Other than a few times of trying a new place, I'm probably only making the drive if Poker Atlas or Bravo tell me there are several tables running. I think if you make the masses pay for the benefits of a few you run the risk of just becoming a room supported by a table or two of regulars, rather than a destination for all to seek out.

The room isn't even open yet, so too early to make any judgments. Apparently they have an experienced crew. I'm sure they want 10+ tables running much much more than I do. Just offering my 2 cents.

That is taking it to an extreme in the other direction as well marketed promos DO attract rec players. Puck is certainly differentiating himself from his neighbor 2 miles down the road which is a good thing for the poker community.

It appears as though the business model from a poker perspective is to attract players with their tournaments (low rake) and offset the low margins with higher rake cash games. When a tournament players busts out they are more likely going to sit in a cash game then go home 6 hours earlier than they wished.

Either way I'm excited to see the room, play the tournaments but I won't travel here to play cash when I'm in the area when donkaments aren't running.

Puck knows what he is doing. Why be competitive when people have already professed their loyalty to Cheers without a hand dealt?

Friends/Family back home have been loving Chasers. Guess the games are real good. I still have a hard time believing people are gonna get off 93 and trek all the way up 28 to Cheers when Chasers is staring them right in the face when they get off the highway.

Brother said the Rock is completely torn down now and that some 3 or $400k condos are going up. Shame .

Chasers may be a little more convenient to some, but Cheers is literally two miles up the road. If that turns out to be the better room, I don’t think that’s a huge deal.

Either way, as someone right on the Salem, NH, line, I’m beyond thrilled that it seems like we are going to have two quality places to play at, that are both about 10 minutes from me.

Long gone are the days I’d be driving 100 miles to CT to jump in a live cash game.

I addressed a previous comment as a response to a specific person, but I'd really like to know something about Manchester Poker Room (formerly Manch Vegas, formerly Jokers).

I've heard a fair number of people refer to that place negatively, as if they're up to some shady business, and in particular the owner. Former staff seem to have a negative opinion of it as well. I've heard words like "corruption" get thrown around, which makes me uneasy about going to the place—not to mention their $5+$2 rake.

I'd like to know more. Can anyone help inform me about this stuff?

1. You'd have to be crazy to get off at Exit 1 to get to Cheers! You're making it a LONG two miles!

2. Salem population only 28k? I couldn't believe, but Google checks out. I would've guessed a lot higher.

Exit 2 ain't gonna be much faster unless you know how to cut thru all those neighborhoods off N. Policy. Even then....Where does Exit 3 dump you off now? Haven't taken it since they redid all those roads/ramps.
