Twin River Casino is adding poker to their selection of table games.

According to a news release, 16 poker tables will be built inside the casino’s new poker room and eight traditional games, such as Blackjack, will round out the other additions. Twin River Chairman John Taylor said the gambling expansion will create 120 more jobs.

“An important part of our business philosophy has been to listen to what our customers want, and the addition of a poker room is one of most often heard requests,” said Taylor in a statement. “We’re thrilled to increase the number of table games we currently offer, which also means we will expand our workforce once again.”
The addition is meant to fill out the non-smoking floor of the casino, in order to replicate the gaming experience on Twin River’s first floor.

“We’re consistently looking for new opportunities to deliver an exciting gaming and entertainment product in a customer friendly environment.”

274 slot machines will be removed to accommodate the new tables.

The new games are slated to be operational by August.

Great news! Cuts the commute to a poker room in half! Glad to hear Twin Rivers listened to their customers.

According to an article by the Associated Press that I read on the internet:

"Twin River Casino will add 28 table games, including 16 poker tables, starting later this summer and into the early fall..."

To be fair, the OP doesn't mention anything about early fall.

So with 16 tables we can assume there will be spreading 13 1-2 no limit, 2 2-5 no limit and 1 2-4 limit.

I think they are going to spread w.e game is in demand while obviously highly prioritizing NL . People in the facebook group are worried that all of the tables will be full, but I have my doubts (at least after the initial opening buzz).

I expect there will be a much greater game variety than that. You have a lot of Foxwoods players from MA/RI and they spread roughly 40-60% NL games as opposed to the 87.5% you are suggesting.

This room is very small for the market it could attract.

I hope I'm wrong but check out the rooms in Florida, Ohio & Pennsylvania that have opened up in the last few years. Mid limit hold'em and mix games are rare.

I don't disagree with you. I was only responding to the post who had this as strictly a 1/2 room when a large piece of their player base is coming from a room who does spread a lot of Limit variations and Mixed games.

I'm not sure what FL, OH, and PA have to do with New England but the largest room on the East Coast is an hour away and does spread a lot of Limit variations and mixed games as well. The problem with getting these games going will be the size of the room......hopefully they realize this and find a way to expand from 16 to at least 24.

I live 5 minutes away from the casino.

Looking forward to this.. Though I have my doubts about how successful it will be.

Great news. Looking forward to checking it out instead of the 100 mi trip to Foxwoods.

Thanks for posting.

How can it not be successful? There will be a waiting list for those 16 poker tables with all the poker players in the area (RI and MA).

not to mention VT and NH and ME that would otherwise have to drive another 1.5 hours to FW/MS

16 tables is definitely not going to be enough

the only reason they may not expand is because poker doesn't generate much profit for casinos (relatively obv)
